I understand the VS point of view, but outright calling me a traitor hurt. Then again, what are they supposed to think. You were dead, then bought back and roped into helping the enemy. So, pretty much brought back in the worst situation imaginable, but the VS doesn't know the entire story, so they piece together what they can from the information they have available. I don't blame them one bit for their reaction.

Forced? How so?

She's been alone for majority of her life, gets saved by Shepard, who has most interesting Prothean stuff inside his/her head, is supportive and understanding of her and in my case, finds her social ineptitude very cute. Shepard is probably the first person who takes and accepts her for what she is, without burdening of pressure of what is expected of her. Now she is a woman actively able to take care of herself and will even argue with Shepard if pressed. When you invite her to your crew for the first time she flatly rejects you, because she has things to do and her own agenda. She is no longer the person following around Shepard blindly with no questions asked. She is now an independent, strong character.

I would fall for someone like that.

It's funny, how people accuse of Liara romance being "forced" where her development is almost exactly the same to Tali's (except we don't get to romance her in first game, but feelings are there and are very real from the first time around), yet I don't see anybody shoving that argument around whenever seems convenient.

I have a very negative view of all Asari. Not out of racism, but simply - why a race of women? It reminds me of Orion slave girls from startrek? And I guess she's simply not the kind of person I like talking to and that I empathise with Ash more. She and I share a lot of traits, agression, something of an inferiority complex... the same name, and general attitude. Though I'm not a particularly religious person, I have a fondness for good poetry. Preferably Dante's Inferno.

Liara makes a pass at Shep way too fast...second conversation...Tali gets to know Shep first.

Neither. They are already taken by my Shepards.

Keep him single until ME2 and then have it! Image IPB

So, so far I've had more arguments toward Ash. Lol guess there aren't as many Liara supporters as i thought.

The answer is quite obvious, Liara loves Renegades.
Ashley on the other hand is a perfect fit for Paragons in my opinion.

Problem solved. B)

Im a paragade turn Renago in ME 1-ME2.... mainly cause I like the scars. I really wish you could keep them, but no - Paragon has the heal them and so on. Why can't Shepard keep any badass glowy scars?!

I'm on my, probably, 50th playthrough of ME1 (sadly not exaggerrating). I plan to make this character my absolute perfect Paragon character. Just having trouble deciding who I should romance for ME3. Opinions?

If you want more interaction with the ME1!LI in ME2, you need to go for Liara. If you can take a punch in your stomache and doesn't mind Horizon's bad writing, pick Ashley.

That's all I can say - it's a matter of taste. I'd go for Ashley all times, never cheat on her ... but the decision is up to you.

Tali's first line to Shepard includes "not that I don't appreciate the help". The first thing Shep sees Tali do is throw a flashbang at Saren's assassins barely 15 seconds into a confrontation, Tali's been out alone on her pilgrimage in the seediest areas of the Citadel and other dangerous planets for who knows how long.

Liara's already stuck in a helpless position with a Krogan battlemaster and geth trying to get to her in the Prothean security field for who knows how many hours, unlike Tali she's had plenty of time to brood on the situation she's in until Shep and crew come to the rescue on their (mostly) white SR1 steed.

The 2 situations and reactions to them are believable - Tali's "I was fine, but thanks for the help" and Liara's "I thought I was going to DIE". Liara reacting more strongly and immediately to Shep makes sense.

I always chalk that up to being a side effect of that mind meld. For a lot of people it takes time to get to know someone to have an attraction for them beyond the physical, but Liara has been rummaging around in Shepard's brain. By that second conversation she already has an idea of who he is as a person.

Consider also that Shepard is 2 for 2 with Asari women that he's done the mind meld with, immediately finding him attractive after that mind meld. The same thing happens with Shiala. She does the mind meld with Shepard, and returns in ME2 wanting to date him.  On that note, I think Sheppy needs to embrace eternity with the Asari Councillor. Image IPB

If Shepard needs to 'link' with another Asari, then I am hoping I have the option to shoot them soon afterwards.

I chose Ashley because it's easier for me to blow her off after horizon for Tali in ME2 without feeling like a pr*ck.
Liara was way too nice to cheat on. I'd feel too guilty.

Flip a coin? They're both great and I'm sure you'll be satisfied with the outcome in ME3 regardless of who you choose.

Although I must ask, how did you manage to do 50 playthroughs of ME1 and not manage to have the urge to romance Ash or Liara?! Lol.

Oh I've romanced both multiple times. Ash more than Liara. But most of my old saves I deleted due to them piling up so I decided to start from scratch. As you can tell I like playing the game. lol

Liara by a long shot. She is the only one that was there for Shepard when everyone else was not.

Not the VS, not Anderson, not your mom, nobody even bothered to confirm wether that you were really dead much less search for your body.

Ash and Kaidan left you hanging, supports the organisation that smeared Shepards name and work. Instantly after death.

Really who do think is better.

Saw this coming. What you call devotion I call obsession (which really, is part of Liara's characterization).

And god forbid VS and Anderson decided to work within the system and refused to join Shepard with Cerberus (ignoring the fact that Liara refused to help out to because she put tracking down the Shadow Broker on higher priority even though she actually knew Cerberus was being legit unlike Anderson and VS.)
