Kinda OT but yeah ... think paragon charm is a bit more dangerous, although it can't convince indoctrinated people (Kenson anyone?).

At least paragon charm guides Ashley / Liara / Kaidan into Shepard's bunk. Uhh and Shepard pulls a really cheesy paragon!line to get into Miranda's pants.

Never had a romance with Liara so I can't confirm your observations.

I kinda liked the sappy romance scene. "Oh captain, my captain". And Shepard is pulling one cheesy line after another. It works ... it's a bit awkward. But it also fits; after all, it's between a crewmember and her superior officer - that should cause a great deal of awkwardness.

The funny thing is: Ashley is more "outside renegade" but definitely has a "inner paragon" side. I won't go into details, I just know it. Prereq is a romance.
I like your "someone needs to be smart" line. Think Ash keeps a paragon!Shepard grounded.
And I definitely like "Oh captain, my captain" - and "Skipper". Hey, if a girl would talk to me like that, I'd leave my fiancee for sure. It's hot. Darn hot. Okay, maybe just because Kimberly Brooks adds a lot of sex to those words - but it works.

I definitely need to do a Liara-playthrough and renegade!romance her. :happy:


"Paragon Charm" definitely guides Shepard to some lovemaking. I still miss a renegade path were you can have multiple LI at the same time.

Out of curiosity does anyone know if you can romance Liara in LOTSB then move on to a ME2 character? I'm trying to make the biggest mess out of a ME1 playthrough with Ashley.

1. Romance Liara in Me1.

2. Renagade sex Jack in Me2.

3. Start a relationship with Tali, have sex with her before suicide mission and give her space aids. Then break up with her.

4. Talk to Miranda do her loyalty mission have sex with her. Keep the relationship.

5. Do Lotsb continue the Liara relationship. Have sex, hence cheating on both Miranda and Liara.

6. AND FINALLY start a romance with Ashley in Me3.


And there you have a perfect game.

Um...no.

I was playing ME1 lately. Was gonna do Wrex's quest after Virmire. Didn't have enough paragon/renegade (I was playing a paragade) so she shot him.

All it requires is not playing a pure paragon/renegade and not doing Wrex's quest early enough. That's all. It's not "stupidity." 

That was the first game I didn't feel the least bit of guilt leaving Ash on Virmire.

Wow! Tough first play through Ryzaki.

In my first playthrough I was romancing both Ashley and Liara. I first Vermired Kaidan. Then after the mission the Liara/Ash confront happened. So I reloaded to the Vermire choosing point and choose Kaidan.

Ashey betrays you. Leaves you hanging when you need her most despite claiming to love you.

She is a traitor to Shepard and an Alliance puppet.


Liara saves you, never betrays you and always did the right thing and cares about Shepard.

The answer is obvious.

I think that both Romances are well done in Mass Effect and I am a little concerned about Ashley in Mass Effect 3 her character at least I hope whoever took over writing her character does her justice and doesn't completely change her.

And in my opinion the best Pairs are Paragon Shepard/Ashley and Renegade Shepard/Liara as well so to have to choose pick who ever you like most.

Also if you want the most developed Romance than I would say pick Liara I mean with the LOTSB DLC Shepard/Liara are back in a full Relationship before Mass Effect 3 even begins so there won't be any work to get back together like us Ashley Romancers will no doubt have to go through.

The only time she manipulated anything is when Liara is Romanced in Me1 and Cheated on her with Tali in Me2. And then dumped her in Lotsb.

She stays something like.

Liara: A chance to give Tali vas Normandy a homeworld.

Shepard: Tali is very special to me.

Liara: I know, and I am glad for you two. She always idolised you even from before.


Shepard: Why didn't you tell me anything then.

(Unromanced) Liara*smiling*: And miss that look on your face when you found out yourself!


(Romanced) Liara: I had vested interests, I didn't want to add more to the competition.

That might come across as slightly manipulative. But hardly much as you have to romance Liara first and get that dialogue.
