I've played both Mass Effect games on a PC which is still in use, but is now not my main computer.  I recently bought a new computer which I plan to use for Mass Effect 3.  My question is, how am I going to retrieve all the save game data from the older saves on my old computer and get them on the new one?  Am I gonna have to install both games on this one?

I'd definitely prefer not to install both games on this one since I've already played both of them far too much and don't need them sitting around, but if I have to I will.  Is there any Steam or Origin save cloud sync that I could perhaps try doing?  Any help would be appreciated.

As far as I know, savegames for both games are in the Documents/Bioware folder, sooo... Just copy and paste it into your new comp's directory, and you're good.

Be thankful you're not stuck on a 360. I got a new one and it was a nightmare getting around the game's forced register of save data to ONE SPECIFIC console (stupidest thing Bioware has ever done).

Yep. I just did this a few months back when my main hard drive started dying.

Congratulations.

Documents/BioWare/Mass Effect or Mass Effect 2/Save Copy saves you need from there on flash drive and...

Nope. To make ME2 recognise ME1 as "transferrable" save you should put them in "ME1" subfolder in ME2's "Saves" folder - that's all, ME1 itself isn't needed. Saved my bacon after hard drive failure and installing another OS - now "backup" flash is always nearby. Technically that saves may not even be yours and ME1 can be never installed on this PC. I think the same will happen for ME3.

Cloud sync? ;) PC isn't that nervous about whose files are these, so any method that will get your saves on new PC should work.

I aplogize for addressing such an old post but I'm having a similar dilemma.

I'm going to finish a new computer that I'm building. It will have a new hard drive and new operating system. (My current rig is using Vista, the new one will have Windows 7) I obtained my copy of Mass Effect directly as a download from Origin. My concern is, will I be able to (once my new computer is up and running) be able to transfer my saves over? Will Origin recognize them as belonging to the same account? I really enjoy Mass Effect 1 but I've beaten 3 times. And yet I don't want to lose my progress which Mass Effect will be based on. Any help? Pointers would be appreciated as well.

PS: Please contact me directly via profile or whatever it is that is used, I'm not sure I'll get the update by this.
