It was okay. Not the greatest movie of all time but not the worst either. I think if i was some fangirl of the original Star Wars trilogy i'd likely have more hate for the new films but i don't think they are that bad.

Certainly me. Second the best movie in SW saga - right after "A New Hope".

As a whole? I didn't care for it much.

Pieces of it? Sure - the pod race was impressive for sound and effects, and the battle with Darth Maul was pretty darn nifty.

Out of the 3 prequels, the first made me feel the least amount of pain. The second felt forgettable. The third ended with darth vader pretending to be emo frankenstein. :3

Princess Amidala had a great look. Pod racing was very slick, visually. The outdoor robotic battles were also quite nice.

The Phantom Menace has the unique distinction of being the sole Star Wars film I gave up on. I didn't make it twenty minutes in before getting bored and walking away. >.<

And I quite liked Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan there.

It was okay in parts, others it makes you sleep, the 2nd film minus the parts with Obi Wan, Jango, or the battle at the end, you can go to sleep watching. I liked the thrid the most, minus most parts with Anakin.

I actually liked all of them pretty well. The prequels (as a whole) definitely don't compare to the originals, but one thing I give them is presenting a sense of scale to the universe. The sheer size of the Galactic Senate Building made that more clear in a way which the originals never could.

It was the only film where Anakin was tolerable. Much better than Skeevy Sexual Predator Anakin in the next films. But on the other hand it had Jar Jar.

I do. Mostly because Qui-Gon Jinn is my favorite Jedi in the saga.

Not me. Qui-Gon Jinn was pretty cool, but that doesn't compensate for the rest of the movies. And saying it's better than 2 and 3 is like saying that getting hit in the face is more pleasurable than being stabbed in the stomach. All just my opinion, of course :).

Good movie. I liked the other two prequels as well - especially Revenge of the Sith.

Yeah, Jar Jar is annoying and Hayden Christensen is a terrible actor... I get it. I also don't care enough about those to look past the good things in the prequels, of which there are many.

EDIT: Also, nothing in the Star Wars movies is worse than the Special Editions of the original trilogy. With the exception of Empire Strikes Back which is excellent for the most part, the ANH and ROTJ's changes made me wanna vomit.

I don't even want to witness any of the changes in the Blu-Ray versions. Enough is enough.

I liked most of the changes in the Special Editions that were on film in the 90's. On DVD, even yet more changes turned to suck. Though in ANH two things should have been left alone

Han Shot First.

And the StromTroopers running into a Wall and going "Wait its two guys why are we running..." that should have been left alone.

And what should have been added in Jedi, was Fett escaping the Scarlac. Which was apperantly filmed but never added for various BS reasons.

Winced at Jar Jar, and wondered aboot Christensen (ie; was it his acting, or poor direction?), but still liked the films. That said, it was easy for me to distance the two trilogies apart from each other.

I enjoyed it when it came out. Today I don't hate it but also don't overly fancy watching it again.

Oh god, ANH... what the hell was Lucas even thinking when making Greedo shoot first? It doen't even make any damn sense. Easily the lamest change of them all.

That "restored" scene with Jabba was also horrendous - Jabba looked and sounded absolutely terrible. It was also a pointless scene in the first place - why restore it with an ass-ugly CGI Jabba?

And let's not forget the lightsaber that magically goes from blue to green, and back to blue again. Damn, I want a lightsaber that does that.

And what about that cringeworthy band scene from ROTJ with the CGI singer and dancer? Or replacing the older Anakin with Hayden Christensen at the very end?

Lucas needs to get his head screwed on straight - making all of these ridiculous changes every time a new edition of Star Wars is released is pointless and detracts from the movies.

BTW, I heard in the Blu-Ray edition of ROTJ, Vader yells "NOOOO!" when he picks up Palpatine and tosses him over the deck. The very thought of that makes me sick.

I like my 20 minute version. It goes like this: A couple Jedi are sent to Naboo to negotiate a settlement between the Trade Federation and the planet. The Trade Federation are like "Pfft, let's get this invasion started" and they try to kill the Jedi. But the Jedi make it down to the planet and are like "we need to get to the Queen!"

Skip ahead (Read: skip the Gunguns) and the Queen is being escorted to wherever by these robots when two kickass Jedi jump from above and destroy everything. And then Qui-Gon is like "we need to escape" and the Queen is like "no" and so then Qui-Gon is like "....fine."

Skip ahead (Read: skip all the way to the end. Like, all the way.) Everyone is trying to sneak back into the castle through the back hangar, but suddenly this BAMF is standing in the way. Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan are like "we got this," so the Queen's handmaiden is all "we out."

So the Jedi are fighting Darth Maul while the Queen is trying to make it back to the throne room. And her handmaiden makes it and is all "EPIC FAIL" to the Trade Federation. And then the Trade Federation is all "you're not even the Queen!" But then they discover she, like, totally is and we're like "Whaaaa?"

Then Qui-Gon dies and everyone is sad. And Obi-Wan and Yoda are talking about how Darth Maul probably wasn't the real mastermind. And then Yoda tells Obi-Wan he's leveled up and gets his own padawan. Cut to a lingering shot of this young kid at Obi-Wan funeral and the music is all "Dun dun DUUUUUN!"

The End.

That said, I really did like the movie when it first came out and feel it's the strongest of the three prequels. That's right. Strongest. Revenge of the Sith is very likely the worst movie I have ever seen, saved in public opinion because it has shinies and supposed (no, not even) depth.

@GreenGoron

Ah I forgot about that fat ugly thing. The rest of the number minus that was good though. Jabba I didn't mind though it was more of a "Wait why do we need this, Greedo just said people are after you."

The Light Saber I think is soemthing from the original films, not sure though. In the Special Edition it WAS the old Anakin, DVD is where that changed, on VHS Its still him, why they made that change beats me, also speaking of changes from VHS special Edition to DVD, was changing Boba's voice, in VHS first release from theater it was the same good ole Boba, in DVD remakes in the early 2000's it was dubbed over with Jango's VA.

Its like I said pick up the Special Edition on VHS if you can or hell google it and then Watch the DVD, its like Lucas went

DUDE THEY LOVE THE CHANGES LETS MAKE EVEN MORE THAT WEREN'T IN THE THEATER EDITION LESS THAN 4 YEARS AGO AND TELL NO ONE!

And yes the Blue Ray will add even more changes that that. Basically, its like...

First release in 70's, re-release in 90's lets refix some of the technical stuff, add some cut parts of the films, 2000's DUDE The fans hate our prequels and brag about the Triligoy, lets add more stuff connecting it to Episode 1-3, and make the bad guys look more lame (In reality Lucas is pissed the Empire has more fans, praticularly Boba Fett.)

Blu-ray will be more of the "tie-ins" and character degradations I expect.

But the Special Edition on Film, is great, the transfer a few years later screwed it up with more add ons. In fact the haphazard way Star Wars is ran I'm willing to bet if we broke into the Lucas Ranch right now and found the "book" as Lucas calls it that states all of this was planned from the start, all will see is a cartoon picture of him in it swiming in money. And in an Ewok Suit.

What worries me is what changes we will see to ALL of the Films if he makes the rumored Rereleased Special Edition 3D collection *shudders*.

Not I. It's a travesty of film making. But I won't go on a rant as this is for those who want to commiserate about liking it.

I've never hated it, but there were stuff that just bothered me, it's been blown out of proportion and exaggerated how bad it actually is.

Nein. Though, in it's defense, it's not as bad as Attack of the Clones, which I thought was a travesty.

But still, it's an underwhelming film. The plot is boring, the aciton feels rote and uninspired. And casting Jake Lloyd as Anakin was a mistake, the kid is robotic (but I do feel for the guy as he gets so much hate nowadays from SW fandom). Killing off Darth Maul was big nono, he should have been a recurring villain throughout the prequels. Fine actors like Ewan Macgregor and Natalie Portman feel wasted. The only saving grace is Liam Neeson as Qui-Gon.

And Jar Jar? The less said, the better. <_<
