I usually play as a sorcerer. Was thinking about a rogue or fighter. Who is the best henchman to use with these classes?
henchman tips.

It's quite important to use them all as each one of them's got his/her special quest... with very powerful rewards. Good luck with Boddyknock Glinckle & Linu La'Neral, you gonna need it...
It's also the best NWN training watching every single one of them the way they "work their very own class".
Fighter is quite a bore, quickly. And spellcasters are badly managed by the game AI. So it's better to play one yourself and use henchies as front raw, sorry, row.
I see clerics as spellcasters myself for instance... with Grimgnaw as my favorite tank. Or Sharwyn, anytime. Anywere.

I use Grimgnaw with my sorcercer. I already know about the special quests. One day I was bored and used a lvl 17 character to complete each henchman quest. Think I will go with Sharwyn for a change of pace.

I agree, Grimgnaw is the better tank. Linu works great if you change her equipment and a good choice if you are often in the need of healing. I use them all but the choice could be influenced by the difficulty level you want to use. Boddyknock could be your worst enemy in high difficulty since his casting kills friends and foes...

Personally, when I play a sorcerer I prefer to use Tomi as the hench (to deal with locks and traps) and use a familiar to provide the muscle. I find the panther works very well in this department. Tomi's no pushover either, particularly early in the game - if you beef him up. Later in the game you could beef your sorcerer up by adding one or two levels of RDD.

I plan to add RDD levels when I install Hordes of the Underdark. Have not installed yet because Shadows of Undrentide is too much for my graphics card. Short on $ so looking for cheap but good graphics card.

To Leematon: maybe you could use another tank, by using spells like "knock" and "find traps" Tomi could be redundant and easily replaced, moreover the panther has already sneak attacks.

Decided to make 2 new charaters. Rogue with Boddyknock and a Fighter with Sharwyn. I am at the beginning of chap 2 and both are working out great.

Only if you consider that "forever noob sorcerer" as your main opponent from the start, you may have a chance to stay alive.
Kill him first before taking care of your regular foes. At least those should fight you with honor, not fireballing you from behind...
And I'm not sure either about a rogue/spellcaster team for the OC. Too many dragons and undeads for a rogue as tank.
The best tank being that monk guy in my opinion. And the less boring one... for a while.
If you ever run into trouble there is a way to switch your current PC with one of a different class.
But one with the same name.

How do I switch my PC class but keep the name

You'd have to build two different PCs in the first place, one for each class, same name (& same level I suppose), & having them both in your localvault folder. Read my "Add-ons & Tips" list in my signature, down to:
*32) Shia’s sunniest & brightest trick ever, by Shia Luck (My post N°3.)
It's easier than it sounds.
I'm not sure that's the best way to go if you're kind of new to NWN (sorry if you aren't).
You might want to save that kind of "procedure" for later; instead first learn from your mistakes as a beginner, the best of what life has to offer in my forever noob opinion.
Your call.
(That works for genders as well. I think the name is all that matters... wait... I'm not even sure actually... I tried too many illegal but honnest stuff with NWN to be sure of anything anymore. Well, keeping the same name might be sometimes important on the story and roleplaying side anyway. )

Leto
- #27 on j-m's list of NWN hits. Haven't used it myself (though I have it tucked away ready to go when needed), but users claim that it can adjust module variables like the gender-specific and alignment-specific ones so that the convos still make sense when you encounter them.
Figured j-m would eventually get around to mentioning it when he thought about it

Can't use Leto, teddybear. ;-)
I have a Mac app that does just that. I just heard Leto does everything.
Hey, happy new year! Loads of honeys... if you get my meaning...

Nice tips but I can't use any of them. All I have is NWN Gold Edition straight from the box. No extra AI programs or apps.

Well, you'd have to get them obviously.
