I agree for the Volus. But it seems the same case for hanara, even if we don't know enough about them. They are the next after humans considered as potential to be member of the council.Saphra Deden wrote...

So, nobody of you would feel bad to leave Volus, hanar and elcors because they are weak ?
plainly
The hanara and elcor? They're not potent enough to matter either way as far as we know. The volus however are useful allies. Most especially in the aftermath. The economy is going to be in shambles most likely and we'll need their keen grasp of economics to get it back on track.
Which species would you abandon?

Really? your willing to let humans go over, oh I don't know, the drell? or the hanar? or elcor? We have so much more to contribute to galactic society! Or is this just another case of the ridculous self hatred that I see so often on these forums?
The drell are barely existant, they have very small numbers, maybe when the regain their numbers, but not in their current state.

Quarians have the largest fleet in the galaxy and the batarian could unite all the Terminus Systems under Shepard's banner if convinced.C9316 wrote...

That could mean the hanar will be eligable for Council membership in a decade or in ten decades or in 50 decades. Or never. The Council has a long history going back some 1300 years of not inviting new members.

The Quarians have a large fleet of obsolete space junk held together with duct tape, chewing gum and a prayer.
Yes, the Quarians have the largest fleet in the galaxy. But most of the ships are far from being combat ready and are packed with civilians. The combat effeciency of the Quarians would be far below that of the Turians, Asari, Salarians, Humanity, the Geth, and probably below that of the Hanar as well.

Agreed on the Volus.
In ME1 there was some speculation that the Hanar would be next in line for a Council seat. Since one of the requirements for gaining a Council seat is a capability to defend Council space, we can safely assume that the Hanar have a powerful fleet. No one would be speculating about the Hanar gaining a Council seat if they were considered militarily weak.
The Elcor: Do they even have much of a fleet? Either way, like the Krogan they could make useful ground troops. They apparently go into battle with cannons strapped to their backs.

If they were below combat readiness they shouldn't have been able to knocked out that Reaper for a few moments and convince Shepard it look like it's hurt from that shot.Han Shot First wrote...

Being unwilling to waste any resources on a species that is likely to just hamper the Reaper Defeat seems like a good reason to abandon a species.

The goal at the point in time ME3 takes place in is to destroy the Reapers at any cost - if it means allying yourself with an enemy race to do so, then that is the price that must be paid.

1) Geth can survive being completely wiped out by having a backup of all their run time software downloaded and a safe location. Maybe like a Jupiter brain. Then once the reapers are gone they can download themselves into new mobile platforms built from a hidden factory that survived with their run times.
2) Asari can survived being nearly wiped out because of their gene pool includes other species. Keep like a hundred fertile maidens safe in cryo somewhere and let the reapers blast 'em all. Once when the war is over take them out of cryo, and if at least one species with a viable gene pool survives, they can spend their 1000 year lives breeding like rabbits since asari can breed outside their species.
3) Humans. Plot Armor for one. Another that since Mordin said we have a more diverse gene pool than any other race in ME universe so our species could take the hit of loosing most of mankind. I can see them making a comeback if humanity was reduced to quarian (17 million) and possibly drell (375 thousand) population sizes.Remember! Plot armor!

None! I will save them all.
All of them if it means winning!
As few as possible, but losses are sometimes necessary.
(I don't actually know who I would abandon, but likely whichever race had less strategic importance and fewer war assets.)
I would save everyone, or kill my shep trying!
