I don't know if anyone else noticed this in the video, but when Anderson tells Shepard that he's staying on Earth, this is Shepard's facial expression:

It's nice to see him be less stoic.

Shep had many good facial expressions in the beta. Happy about it!

Wow, he's almost unrecognizable. Seriously.

He did show emotions before, though. Remember? Emotions such as...

Rapefulness.

I thought that even with some facial animations unfinished, Shepard had some pretty sweet ones.

3:40, when he says "It was that or let the Reapers walk through our backdoor," I thought it was awesome.

22:20, his expression as he observes the scene unfold before him and the way he reacts to it is marvelous. Best of Shepard I've seen so far in any ME game.

Yeah and what about when kid's shuttle got shot down? I like that expression the most.

Uh, wouldn't FemShep suffer from this perceived emotion problem too then?

Sometimes it feels like misandry, the way male Shepard is seen as inferior.

I've never played femShep, so I wouldn't know. But I always notice the manShep's expressions tend to be robotic at times. ME 3 beta/trailer is the only time I saw his reactions and thought: "Wow! It's like he's actually human for once!"

Shepard seems to have a wider scale of feelings in ME3. I hope we'll see a lot of such moments - that wouldn't make him or her to a crybaby, but at least more human. I dislike the fact Shepard almost never shows any emotions in ME1 & ME2. And if s/he does, it looks fake.

@Shoto

It's probably just because there was only a Sheploo version of the beta. FemShep is fairly robotic as well, at least as much as Sheploo.

Yes of course. People have been pointing out and complaining femShep haveing the same stoic behavior as manShep. Shepard, BOTH GENDERS, will actually be showing human emotions beyond sterotypical masculine behavior. Soldier guy who hardly ever shows emotions cause he's too hard core.

Let's celebrate this. Not turn this into another gender war because someone is commenting on a picture of manShep showing emotions and saying look, he has emotions, when there is nothing, NOTHING, on femShep in game that has been released at all for anyone to comment on her facial expressions, and say, look, two pictures, both Shepards showing emotions.

Oh great this is gonna be horrible.

Why? I'm willing to bet many of those expressions hit uncanny valley faster than a speeding bullet on my custom Shep.

Saying that Maleshep has absolutely terrible voice direction isn't misandry.

For me, its the very very subtle smile he has once he sees the boy next to the shuttle that gets me.

And then expressions as if to say to the boy, "Get on the shuttle. Get out of there."

Some terrific stuff there!

I know! I'm so happy! I can imagine it'll be like that for Femshep too...

Heck, ANY bit where he/she acts human is a good part for me!

I prefer Female Shepard to Male Shepard. I realy liked Female Shepard a lot, but even she could have been stronger. She's great but not perfect in my view.

About Male Shepard. His voice to me seemed robotic. Now, I have a bad feeling that we're going to have a trolling session where both sides shout at each other. So to save this thread from being locked by the moderators, please don't make it personal.

Pro Femshep has their views, and pro maleshep has their views. Express them but don't shout them. Please. And just because someone prefers female shepard doesn't make them hate men, and just because someone prefers male shepard doesn't make them hate women.

Once again,

KEEP THIS THREAD CLEAN!!!

More subtle facial animations are a good thing. Hopefully they won't look like crap on custom Shepards.

I think this one shows the subtle improvements better.

Gross, feelings are for the weak. Shepard should have no dialogue except for Renegade interrupts so he can the killing machine he was meant to be.

Now I'm starting to think people are just going to be exaggerating how little emotion Shepard shows throughout the games.

It's really not that bad. One scene like the Normandy lockdown in ME1 or Liara's visit to the Normandy in ME2 is all you really need, as long as your normal interactions throughout the rest of the game make Shepard a believable character.
