If only it was that simple.

Sorry I can't have faith in someone who screws me over because he smells a "wider audience" somewhere.

If this is about the leaked beta, it gave me more faith than I had before. I loved it.

Sadly, it's life now 'n' days.
DA2 was a bad game, I admit. But with Mass Effect 3, I think it'll be better now , in some ways.

EDIT: Added more and fixed typo.

@UBER GEEKZILLA

I hear ya buddy, but I'm afraid BSN won't change. It'll always be filled with "fans" who jump to negative conclusions at the earliest opportunity.

Not jump to conclusions? But that's what the BSN does best!

It is up to them to prove to me that I should buy their product. If theey are incapapble of doing so, it is not my fault for bringing up concerns that I believe are valid.

It's just a vocal minority who like to huff and puff, but never actually blow anyone's house down. They'll still buy and play Bioware games and products at the end of the day, no matter how "terrible" they claim them to be.

Nothing to it.

It is usually the same voices over and over again on BSN. The reason why it seems like there is so much of it is because...

1. There is way too much thread hijacking in this forum. If any thread goes on long enough, it eventually derails into a "BioWare no longer makes RPGs" argument.

2. While the BioWare critics keep complaining, eventually the fans get worn down. It gets tiring fighting the same battle on the forums over and over. And BioWare has made it pretty clear that they are filtering out all the noise, so there isn't really a worry that some of the haters are going to unduly ruin the final product.

Also the Mass Effect and Dragon Age franchises each has their own separate development teams.  But the negative nancies that want to be negative about ME 3 love to say "but DA 2" when they want to be overreactive and negative about ME 3 a game that still doesn't even come out for four more months (and the wait is killing me)

So we can't decide to have faith in something or not for our own personal reasons?

I mean, I have no doubt that ME3 will be a decent game, but I have little faith left in the premise/promise of our choices actually mattering and changing the story and the universe. If I find the latter to be something I value and a good enough reason to lose faith in the product as a whole, no matter how good the new additions are (and I will admit, GAW looks good), then that is my God given right.

Same goes for things on the Dragon Age side of the fence: It's nice and all that there are people working on it with a repertoire that goes all the way back to Shadows of Amn, but if I choose to judge the team on their more recent work, then I will do so.

The overall gaming community can be a bunch of uptight *ssholes. Just look at the pricks online on GoW, CoD, and Halo. Others just seem unable to adapt to the games of today.
No matter what others b*tch about, I'm behind BioWare 100%.

This isn't a new when compared to the original BioBoards, there were disappointments over NWN and the subsequent entries to the series. The tendency to disapprove of how things are going in pre-release forums has grown immensely over the years, and it isn't just on BSN.

DA II wasn't well accepted and was a bit of a disappointment to many. Much of that is a result of individual expectations, some so extreme that they claim the developers had broken their promises, except that the developers never make such promises. So, hey, they tried something different and it didn't work out too well. The last I saw, there isn't a AAA developer out there who's every single title is up to fan expectations.

ME 3 looks to me like they are working very hard on releasing a very smooth and polished finale to the ME trilogy from what I have seen in the unfinished and unpolished beta that got leaked and spread like wildfire on the Web.

Bioware lost the position of favorite developer or even one of the better ones in my eyes years ago. These days I'm mostly wondering where the line is going to be draw and when I will find myself having no interest in anything they make at all. People say Mass effect was always a shooter but it never felt like I was playing a action game until ME2, then they ruined Dragon Age by adding a awesome button and now ME3 looks like it will try even harder to draw in the action crowd. SWTOR is the last product they have that still interest me. I almost look forward to the day Bioware lose the RPG crowd and has to try to survive on their action alone.

the same words (those from the OP) were spoken many times before DA2 came out.........

yeah........nuff said. I do not like to be pessimistic but I will take anything ****** grano salis until given proof of the truth.

Hell, you'll find this attitude on the Assassin's Creed forums as well. Just recently I saw a thread remarking how Revelations is "unrealistic" compared to their past games and how Brotherhood was an abomination compared to the first two installments. This negativity is really just an online phenomenon.

As long as something sells, your expectations a as community are irrelevant.
