What kinds of things could the community do with source code?

What are some things that people would want done?

Personally, I'd like:

1.  the length of the round lengthened to allow for fighting--dance of death would be great.
2.  head to follow the pointer to imitate the character looking at something
3.  several phenotypes -- especially one for high dex characters, a character that doesn't look like an American football player

man, i really miss dance o death.

I remember when i first got NwN2 & it was like, Okay time to try out the dance o death .. but when i hit sidestep it just broke off combat (instead of skirting around to take AoO's on a nearby caster).

the head-follows-pointer was irksome 'cause ya always knew when someone was looking at you. (but valid nonetheless)


- another thing I really miss is not having that purple highlight box around the loaded weapon-combo ...

oh, and sounds that fade instead of getting abruptly cut off - in NwN as i was running to zone I got in the habit of letting out a voice chat just to hear the fade

Those are the kind of things that keep me playing NWN more than NWN2. It would be so nice if they could be implemented one day.

Move the enforce legal chars code into a server side script. So we could customize whats legal on our servers (and fix bugs).

Note that everything above described which could be done with source code, can be done with NWNx as well. Same results. ( and i can level up to level 40 on my PW to prove it. ) Sometimes there are multiple ways to achieve the same goals.

( Phenotypes, dance of death, etc is more modeler and animation department even though some work could be done to control those animations better )

The only limitation is it's MP only, but you can run SP modules in your own private MP session, and the NWN1 folks have a client extender that allows NWNx plugins.

@painofdungeoneternal--I had no idea. I like modules, but could you recommend a couple of servers were I could see some of this.

Also, what's the best resource for learning more about the difference between building a PW v. SP?

It's literally almost every server at this point.

Most use skywings fixes via client extension and xp_bugfix. The level 40 is only on my server at the moment, but it's got fixes to uncanny dodge, caster level caps. But quite a few things are fixable via other means.

Roleplay --> Sea of dragons ( uses my scripts )
Action - > Dungeon Eternal
But there are many more.

Most of this i am just getting into myself, but in NWN1 there are far more extensive changes to what you can do.

I just read a couple of threads about the NWNx, pain. I can't say that I follow a bit of it, but--

I haven't been this excited about NWN in awhile! I'm going to buy a new computer with 4 cores!
