They should just make a spoiler forum and let us talk about it. The damage is done.

There was no hacking involved.

However, your example of the TV series is a bit faulty...I've never seen a series that has as many as 15+ characters that you got to see every week in every episode of every season.

Sure there was.

And both of them were from this decade. It's not faulty.

Touche. However, I have seen Lost...and I quit watching it because it was a bit hard to follow after a while. I blame that partially on having a ton of characters to keep track of week after week.

Also, comparing Lost/The Wire/any other TV series to Mass Effect is a bit like comparing apples to oranges, wouldn't you say? Both are long-running shows over the course of several seasons, not trilogies. Episodic stories are much different from long-running stories that are like 30 hour movies. Even serialized shows like Battlestar Galactica are different: I'd also like to point out that Battlestar had many different, deep characters...each made their appearance when the story deemed it appropriate and necessary, and we didn't see every single one every single episode.

But I digress, the TV comparison might have some crediblity. That still doesn't change the fact that it makes almost no sense to cram all your former crewmates on the Normandy and have them follow you around like baby ducks. In this galactic war, Shep's going to need as much influence in as many places at the same time as possible. There is no way Shep and squad can single-handedly liberate the galaxy without a coordinated effort...anyone who studies strategy should know at least that much. Having personal connections through former squadmates is the path that makes the most sense given the situation.

However, I don't expect that any attempt at persuasion will convince someone that's peeved that their favorite ME2 character won't be nipping at Shep's heels the entire game to cool their jets. All I can do is offer my own insight, analysis, and opinion.

I haven't read the leaks, but the fact it's been leaked makes me worried Bioware might delay the game to make changes.

It's too late for that now.

No Its not. I think Half Life 2 did the same thing. Also they really should rewrite stuff becasue some of it sounds very very stupid.

Yes, genius, it is.  Unless of course you want an extremely butchered game, which is what major content changes at this point would result in.  It will have to go gold in about 3 months to make the scheduled release.

Actually, in the original sense of the term, there probably was: likely someone had to whip up a tool to render the TLK file into a human-readable format.  Even if that just amounted to modifying existing code, still hacking.

True but HL2 was also delayed for a year to make those changes and make sure they worked. I can't see EA funding the development of the game for another year just because of a story leak. Especially when it's an EOFY game that will boost this years numbers and look good to the shareholders.

No way that they are delaying it. They are just going to let it slide and hope for the best.

In Half-Life's case it was also a bit more extreme. An early version of the whole game leaked.

I remember when a leak came out about the protheans fate, Bioware reps were saying it wasn't a final release, don't believe what you read on the Internet, yadda yadda. It's fine; it gave me plausible deniability for when I accidentally read a spoiler.

So, the beta leaked. And now the whole story leaks.
What's going on, Bio?

Well, the second is the direct result of the first: someone pulled a copy off the beta of their 360, poked around in the files, and managed to extract the (normally unreadable) text.

BTW, I still can't understand how Bioware could put cryo/pyro/whatever ammos as skills AGAIN.
Seriously, Bioware, lack of imagination much?

Jesus Freaking Christ on a Bike.
I see now...I haven't been spoiled as of now, but I guess it's inevitable, sooner or later. There are still four months to go. I'm just hoping they won't delay the game again to rewrite stuff.

This situation is almost eerie. It was interesting to watch how quickly the rage took hold in the last 12 hours or so, having observed from the original post holding that first dastardly link. It all seems so unbelievably unprofessional.

Bioware needs to mobilise their PR department pronto to try to smooth this over.

I finally read the thing, and honestly I can't see what all this fuss is about. Yeah, there are some huge spoilers but nothing that we haven't expected, and the script is written in such a manner that it resembles gibberish (godzilla fights an ewoks :D). All this leak did was make the wait even more unberable.
