Is it basically saying that they turn their guns on eachother for a second and then just continue running? O_O

Truth be told, it doesn't really say what happens after that. Just talks about a cutscene immediately after that. Perhaps they are both feeling the symptoms of indoctrination?

The sound of my *sigh* and the *clap* of my facepalm should echo though time and space.

I'm kind of wishing I'd never looked at the spoilers. I'm a little disappointed if its really going to be this linear. That's saddening. Hopefully the script was in fact old, and that most of it has changed. And hopefully they don't push back the release date.

Can I have a link to this spoiler files :) - I cant wait to find out for myslef ... :)

Spoiler

Plus I have heard that Ashley is going to screw us and betray us aat some point.

Spoiler

Is that unavoidable, and if it is can she return to us later on or is this betrayal permanet ??

THX :)

It's not really betrayal and it's avoidable. I think every squad mate can survive (probably 'cos previous squad mates except Liara are barely in the game)

Not necessarily.  Indoctrination can happen quickly or slowly, depending on what purpose it serves.  Judging by their proximity to the armada, not to mention time spent in the presence of Reapers through the course of the game, it might not be difficult for the fleet to "push" Shepard and Anderson's mind.  By that point I'm sure the Reaper's aren't too concerened with Shepard's mental stability.

Ah true.

So Harbinger doesn't want my Shep's body anymore? I thought we had something! :crying:

After carefully reading through the material twice its obvious that there are only a few fleshed out outcomes and that the rest are being worked on.  The fact that there were multiple variations of certain scenes should tell you that its anything but linear.  Of course the main narrative, Reapers invade the galaxy and start with Earth is going to remain the same no matter what you choose, but I saw plenty of wiggle room in my reading.

Linear is a bad word, and people are tossing it around like the datamine is the word of god etched into a mountainside with a thanix cannon.

Can people at least wait for the game to come out before writing it off?

What is this nonsense? You suggest the people on the internet are not smart enough to know the entire plot, every choice, prerequisites, outcomes & variables involved and everything else based on incoherent compilation of in-developement plots points? Simply ridiculous!!!

The notes pertaining to the Shepard/Anderson standoff do seem to suggest that there is some form of indoctrination or mind control at work affecting them; the script mentions that the sensation Shepard is feeling reminds him of/is related to another feeling he experienced earlier in the game -- I believe it was on Sanctuary, but I could be mistaken.

Also, Balek-Vriege's earlier post explaining what a deus ex machina is hits the nail on the head; the object everyone is referring to as being such is not because the groundwork and possibilities for it have been laid out in ME1, ME2, and Lair of the Shadow Broker. It's not something that just pops up randomly near the end of the game to give you a chance to beat the Reapers.

I know, it was completely obvious to me after reading it that we only have part of the picture and not the whole story with all outcomes, yet people have ending counts and are complaining about linear storytelling in what appears to be a single runthrough with one set of variables.

It's good that I don't visit these forums often. I take it that someone leaked the information onto here?

Someone posted a link...I believe the initial sticky on the beta leak was where it started.  Within 3-6 hours or so this whole place started blowing up with spoilers and trolls.

No, someone posted a link to a site, that if you dug far enough, contained an english breakdown of the plot through extensive datamining of the beta.  It was disjointed, hard to read an appeared to only have considered a few possible start states in ME3.  There is a lot of disinformation going around, so don't believe everything people blurt out, and stay out of this thread if you don't want things ruined.  Loose lips are abound in here.

What he said.  I don't know if he's referring to the plot, but the whole way it's presented is head ache inducing.

The thing is head ache inducing like no other. I read through it because people were going crazy over the "bad story" and I had no idea where they were getting everything from. It is constantly jumping around, going over the same mission/scenario a few times... the entire thing is irritating to read!

Spoiler (highlight to read)
From what I read I would say it starts way before it. There is mention in the script of Shep having some nightmare scenes beforehand. I'll wager Anderson probably has something similar. Let's not forget that during Arrival there is that bit where Shep is out cold for a couple of days with a indoctrinated Kenson in close vicinity. Anderson could've easily had something happen to him whilst he's been left on Earth.

Then we basically end up with the two in similar scenario to what Paul Grayson went through in 'Retribution' where the Reapers are getting into their head and putting subtle thoughts in there making them think that turning the gun on the other trying to question the trust in them, giving them idea that the other is indoctrinated when in fact they both are going down that path and yet at same time still have enough will in them to resist if it came to it.

Quoted for truth, that's why I keep saying that it was a disjointed mess and pulling conclusions from it has to be done with a grain of salt and done carefully.  No body is thinking about what they read, only using confirmation bias to hate it even more before its out.

Read bits and pieces of it. What's wrong with the ending? Anyone who has played past BW games would know how predictable they can be. After ME 1, we all knew it was going to be either destroy them, join them, or die trying.

And I could write a draft for ME 1 that makes it sound like the worst BW game.

Ooooh. This makes sense and sounds awesome. I'll run with it.
