I guess it all depends on what happens in between the books and ME3.  I guess it's possible TIM goes on a recruiting banaza, hires/indoctinates mercs, clones an army or is using deserter military.

Which is the kind of stupid crap that I'd expect to come out of a comic book or maybe George Lucas.

What about the fact he had the forces all along and just kept them seperate from his espionage/research group cells?

Yeah. Even if that's incredibly stupid.

Cerberus has done plenty of incredibly stupid things before that backfired on them, and never learned.  It may seem incredibly stupid to try and control something which we know so little about anyway, but it's not-unlike cerberus.

Saph, I'm sorry, but you seriously can't see the forest through the trees here.

You know if that statement came from someone I had even an ounce of respect for I might take it to heart or ponder that perhaps the person saying it had a point. However that isn't the case with you. I point you back to what I said regarding your optimism about this game.

I guess nobody noticed this massive galaxy-conquering army building up. Who'd have thunk it?

The leaked story proves what I've been saying about Cerberus being the dev's "plot clay" that can be molded into whatever's convenient at the time.

Whoever leaked the beta is a hero for stopping us from wasting our money on this piece of sh!t of a story.

Of course not. As usual.

Attacking schools filled with children and bombing science facilities? No, that's not terrorism at all. That's just something totally justifiable.

They were a big deal. In case you didn't notice a lot of those side quests involved Cerberus getting killed. ME2 stressed that building the SR2 and resurrecting Shepard drained much of their resources. Retribution emphasized Cerberus being drained even more when they were hit by the turians.

The series was weakening them bit by bit.

Saph, I'm sorry, but you seriously can't see the forest through the trees here.

Cerberus is getting more and more involved in the story and you're fussing about how much money they spend?

There it goes.  Head through the desk again.

I resent how much attention Cerberus is getting in marketing. Really, I had enough of them in ME2. The white/yellow/black color scheme on everything around you gets old after a while. Really, the only Cerberus agents I want anything to do with are Jacob and Kelly....

If its the money issue that bothers you, what makes you think TIM hadnt planed this exact scenario all along,

I know he didn't because his own notes in ME2 say otherwise.

If everything about Cerberus in ME2 and Retribution was just going to be un-done and ignored by ME3 then none of it had any point. It was a waste of time. It was filler.

And what makes you think the soldiers you see in ME3 arent the last...final resources TIM had left? Do you really think he would have his plan all along without an extra team for the final part of his plan? Did you forget all those ships going towards the Collector Base in the end of ME2? He clearly had a small fleet/army left in his pocket, you just didnt pay attention.

Cerberus is one of the chief antagonists in ME3 for a simple reason -- to put a human face on the enemy and give you a powerful, charismatic villain you can fight against. Most of ME2 involved fighting random mercenary groups; in order to avoid repeating the act of having the player simply fight random indoctrinated people throughout ME3 or hordes of mindless Reaper husks, they chose to have Cerberus work with the Reapers. This gives you recognizable humanoid enemies to fight whom Shepard has a personal interest with, and a striking villain presence in the form of TIM to foil against for most of the game. I'm not saying that it doesn't make sense that TIM is playing the game he is, I'm just saying that it's also a logical decision on the part of the writers/producers to make them an enemy, especially considering how great TIM is at chewing scenery and playing the ambiguous, menacing figure.

Of course they are, from a certain perspective. Sure, many of what they've can no doubtedly be described as "criminal", but "terrorism" doesn't describe their modus operandi in the least.

Most likely. I have been trying to talk sense into people on the BSN for a long time now. People just call me a troll. Likewise when I talk about Protoss imbalance. It is legit and action must be taken but people dont listen.

I was specifically talking to the "critics" who were saying those things when you started the argument with me, if it dosent apply to you, dont assume i was talking about you

Well then maybe you should refrain from using words like “you’re” when addressing the critics. It would make people not assume you’re talking to them. Especially using it when replying to that person.

You did ask proof from me and Dave. Neither of us ever said the thing you accuse the “critics” of. In fact, a couple of other people you asked “proof” of didn’t say those things either. And no one picked an argument with you. You came out swinging and brought it all on yourself by saying mostly everyone who complained were trolls and had never played the game before.

No really it wasn't. At least not on this scale. Cerberus was being set-up to have a smaller role in the game right up until the first videos and images of ME3 were released. It makes sense; a smaller role is a more flexible one. Cerberus having a small part would allow the players more freedom to choose to side with or against them.

Okay, so this all goes back to people wanting to side with Cerberus...

WHY IS IT ALWAYS CERBERUS?

Same reason people like The Empire in Star Wars.  They dress better.

Again though that's been a problem with Cerberus in general.  Since ME1 they have had all these bases and space stations around the Galaxy no one seems to knows of.  Like that major fleet I previously mentioned at the end of ME2.

As I think more about it a best explaination for the troops, it would be the infrastructure the Illusive Man has built up with front Corporations and influence within the Alliance Military.
