As someone who revels in story creation and creative writing, who holds two degree's in the field and has attended the Clarion University of science fiction and fantasy writing at UCSD, I can safely say that the story is a jumbled mess of pretenses and linearity that provides little to no player choice from the previous two games.Balek-Vriege wrote...

Thanks.
Feeling awful that this has happened to Bioware.
Hopefully this will reverberate throughout the community and push the game back even further as to fix the **** storm that is the Mass Effect 3 story.
You should because your scenario is never going to happen. They would have to rebudget and redo all of Mass Effect 3 pretty much to do that. It's not free to rewrite a story. That's like saying "Ok Avatar's story is leaked and I don't like it, they should completely reshoot everything." Not going to happen.
I love how people think the story is crap and linear when you can see from the stuff taken from the datamine that they list like 5-7 Shepard responses in there. We have no context of how events unfold and when (yet). Basically all the negative nancies jumping on this when in fact a lot of the data disproves a lot of beta criticisms.
*Spoiler*
The Rachni Queen is somehow still alive, because "LOL indoctrination." Really?

Argument from authority? Seriously? Are you REALLY trying that? Also, again, the datamine offers no context and no application, just a bunch of possible dialog/script that really doesn't mean much of anything, already stated to be outdated. Why are we still having this conversation? Nothing that was leaked is relevant.

1. Why would you post a spoiler on this thread when a lot of people don't want to see them.
2. As someone who is "learned" in story creation and writing, you should know that dialogue in the spoilers is presented as just *dialogue.* It's not even truly a full script. From what I have read, there's no description of actions, noises, character reactions/expressions (a bit of it), scenery or plot progression. It's basically the data which shows dialogue and how it's setup. As a writer, how can you judge a piece of work soley based off that? That's like taking a novel and taking out all the descriptive portions and only judging it by character dialogue. Then saying it sucks.
I hope they teach objectivity at Clarion University as well.

Wow, man -- You have got to calm done. BioWare's plots have never been amazingly original. What matters is their execution, of which you have no idea how they will be done. Sing The Beatles with me: It's gonna be allllright....

And of course that makes you the only one who knows how to properly tell this story. Obviously.
*SPOILER*
And there could have been other unhatched queens floating around in space - it's not that big of a stretch really.

When the beta leaked i've talked to some friends on another forum... "what concerns me about these game modes (story, action...) is that how they gonna make choices for you? It will be randomly? I mean, sometimes the game will choose to kill a guy, and other times it wont?
Or the decisions in game are so shallow that doesn't matter what you choose the result will be the same? DA2 was like this..."
And for what i'm reading here, im kinda worried...
Actually to be honest it depends on the way you look at it. In DAO no matter what you did you save Fereldan by killing the Archdemon. In ME3 I believe it was confirmed that you can actually lose the fight.

Why yes!
Kai Leng ends up convincing the dumb @ss Virmire Survivor to turn on you.
You must either convince or kill the VS.
Then Kai Leng kicks your arse, steals your live Prothean and you have to choose between saving Liara or the VS jerk.

I'm just keeping my fingers crossed everything works out fine because no amount of my ****ing and moaning is going to stop something that's been set into motion for lord knows how long. Even if it sounds like a train wreck, there could be something valuable in there. /hopes that my choices count and it's not like Arrival. LOL YOU MEANT WARN THE BATARIANS? WHUT? I THOUGHT YOU MEANT ASDJFIAEWHROfaow
Okay not ****ing cool. Way to post spoilers about Kai Leng and VS without a spoiler tag ****. I'm going dark on this whole subject. Later BSN.
