No, it was him and Drew Karpyshyn and Casey Hudson and Preston Watamaniuk.  Oh, and then the entire writing team got to give their feedback on it.  This incredibly persistent meme that "Lead Writer == Primary Author" is completely incorrect.

I dont really care who ruined the story...point is, the story is a ruin and htere's nothing anyone can do about it anymore.

If anything, I'd let you guys skip the mission and give you extra resources because you had one less threat to deal with. Maybe some convo options that let you brag about it to the Krogan. Would that be enough?

Or maybe an entirely different situation arises influenced by the lack of a presence? The possibilities are limitless. I think it was Seboist who said that killing the her should have generated more popularity for Shepard amongst the krogan. There are any number of ways that could manifest.

Like I said, the possibilities are limitless.

That's kind of what I was going for by 'brag about it to the Krogan.' I'm sort of blanking on situations that them not being around would have caused. At least, not ones that are less of a stretch than the Reapers making one of their own. Besides, replacing their part with something equally dire doesn't really validate your choice more than just replacing her with a clone with a different name. It just means they put in more window-dressing to hide it.

Why should the rachni be a huge part either way? They've only had two years to build up from a single queen. A massive armada or war is not something I would think is likely. A few rachni here or there or in one mission (and then maybe the finale) is it. Or the rachni thing could even have mostly played out back in ME1.

Perhaps the rachni being present results in the deaths of certain characters or the destruction of certain locations? Thus these characters and locations could only be interacted with by a Shepard who killed the queen.

I know.

And it's a shame, because the multiplayer mode looks quite promising.

The Thane thing is pretty cool (assuming you ignore that spoiler is spoiler)
Plus I like that you can't solve the quarian/geth conflict without spoilering spoiler.

Renegades would still be missing out on them being here or there, or in that one mission. Still unequal content distribution.

However, I like your last idea. I'm facepalming because it's a logical consequence and simple enough that I should have thought of it. I was looking at things from the standpoint of them being gone adding something in for Renegades instead of them being present taking something away from Paragons, but that would make sense.

Ironically this beta probably wouldn't even been planned as a "sneak peak" if multiplayer didn't exist.

No, they get something else to compensate. It is also entirely possible to have Paragon decisions which have a negligeable impact on the next game, but where the Renegade decision has a large impact. Paragon does ALWAYS need to equal a cameo in the next game. Sometimes it needn't import anything at all where-as the Renegade decision can have future consequences good or bad.

I WANT TO BELIEVE, but everyone is just so negative about it. Though this is a gaming forum and the slightest news can cause major ramifications such as riots and the dreaded petition.

I view multiplayer separately from singleplayer.
Bad wroting/story doesn't really influence multi.

You didn't state that the Renegades were getting something to compensate (I assume in this case Krogan bragging rights would be worth a missionless cameo?), but now that I see what you meant I suppose that would cut down on the complaining. I agree that Paragon doesn't always = cameo, though in this case I think the game would have to say something at some point, or it would look like they just plain forgot to resolve that situation.

Now what does that sound like? Oh yeah, ME2. Maybe I should watch the leaked footage after all...

I feel that Cerberus has been extremely poorly handled: relatively small terroist group, then group with a fantastic space station and that plasters their logo on everything and works with Shep, then to a freaking army that now wants to kill Shepard. It's just...off.

Yeah. Especially when the latest novel had them basically crippled, but now they seem to have more resources than ever, with state-of-the-art mechs and unlimited soldiers armed to the teeth with uber-leet gear. Cerberus already seemed massively and unbelievably funded and secretive given everything else in the universe and against all logic, but considering how much they supposedly spent on rebuilding Shepard and the SR2 and what happened to them in Retribution it's getting ridiculous. They shouldn't be much of a threat at all.

Guys.

Holy hell.

Guys.

This game is huge.

Wow.  I mean, wow.

Your decisions (at least who lives and dies) matter.  And you won't believe who's coming back, the places you get to go, the things you get to do, who lives and dies, who's siding with whom and why...  For a sh*tty rough outline, this is gonna be amazing.

This is AdmiralCheez, tell you personally that the game has not been ruined.  ME3, judging by a very early implementation of its storyline, is going to rock and rock hard.  And, looking at the gameplay footage, combat and squad banter has been improved 300%.

There were some parts that were a bit blah, but no worse than what we've already dealt with and nothing so facepalmy as the Lazarus Project.

And I can guarantee you will f*cking cry.

(If you think this is too optimistic, please, read the damn title.  I am legit gushing over what I've read, though, and I haven't found any game-ruiners in here at all.)

Based on your posting history I know that we have very similar views as to what we both like and dislike about the ME series so far. So I'll gladly take your word for it. :)
(Although TBH from the party banter and character dialogues on SurKesh I saw/heard from the leaked beta video footage already got me convinced)

It's amusing that an overwhelming majority of the people going "LOLOLOL PLOT RUINED" are people playing renegade sheps.

Yes, having choices being invalidated (instead of being ignored like in ME2) and being forced to do things against our characterization is legit. I apologize for our complaints, we shall humbly not post about it for five minutes.

Some of the dialogue/story is class. However I would say most of it is head scratching wtf, and in need of revision or clarity. So maybe that 25-40% we're missing will fix that, but some of it is just poor plot design.

Sheeesh..just finished reading the intire leaked plot file..

Ye gods...I've seen fanfiction 100 times better than this.
Reapers are even more stupid and ineffectual.
TIM and Cerberus even more unbelievable and cliche.

I won't go into any details, but if this is the real story as planned...then it effectively killed the ME universe for me.

And it looks like ME3 will follow.
All the fancy graphics in the world and all the shooting mechnics can't save it.

This is yet another YOUR MILEAGE WILL VARY.

Bad writing is bad writing.

I don't care if you enjoy a 9999 page story about monkies flinging poo and consider it the best and most entertaining thing ever. You may like it, but it's still bad.

The plot leak butcheres characters, logic, reason and plenty else.

No.

You're a moron if you think that something as subjective as writing can be dealt with in such a cut-and-dry fashion. A lot of people enjoy romance novels, I don't - that doesn't make them all bad, it just means IN MY OPINION THEY ARE NOT. Your opinion is not fact, sir.
