I cannot get my DVD drive to read the DA2 disk I just bought.  It still reads the DA:O disk, but not DA2.  I updated my firmware to the most recent, and have tried disconnecting the drive.  Still, it simply does not read it, so I cannot even install the game.

2 options I see for you to play the game are....

1) Buy a new DVD player, external drives are pretty cheap, around 40 bucks US.

2) Register the game with Origin and use a DL version.

That is a comparatively common problem, answered a comparatvely frequent number of times.  It has happened to me with DA: O, DA-2, ME-2, and (Bethesda's) Fallout 3.  I don't happen to have an external DVD Reader drive, nor did I know anyone else with one.  I didn't consider it would be a good investment.  I did have an older Sony DVD drive that worked, on the PC I kept on the LAN that has an LPT port for my old model LaserJet printer.

I tried copying the contents of the disks to folders on the gaming PCs' hard drives.  Many game players have had success that way.  It didn't work for me.  What did work was reaching across my LAN from the gaming PCs to the Printer Server PC's old Sony DVD.  I'm not impressed by the Origin apron strings situation, but it didn't exist by that name and in its current form when I needed an alternative to my Plextor DVD Burner drives.
