 In curiousity to the young and old of the community, I'd like to know what the general thoughts of two questions.

• How many characters do you think should be a Romance Option of or either (F)Shep and/or (M)Shep?
• Out of that number, who would be your top choices?

It'd be really awesome to know who you think should be the options, keeping in mind that ME1 had 2 options and ME2 had 3 options in theory (minus Kelly, Samara and Morinth). 

In a personal view, I think sticking to 3 or possibly 4 options for either Shepard would be great though more than 4 options would be pushing it. Taking into considerations, if your import game has history and 'dumped' relationship characters would you not be able to pursue them again for obvious reasons.

1. Overall, I think each gender of Shepard should not have more than 3 primary LI options and maybe a couple of secondary LI which are only available in one ME game.

2. My personal favs for m!Shep are:
#1 Ashley
... long wait ...
# 2 Miranda
# 3 Tali

I don't have any f!Sheps, but in case I'd have, my top 3 are:

#1 Kaidan
#2 Thane
#3 Jacob

So yeah, less is more. Less potential LI but more development for those would be fine.

Still go with Tali always anyway, love the character and gradual lead-up too much. After so many playthroughs It just feels too natural and canonical now for me.

Still, the most mature, adult relationship was with Jack probably.

Ashley and Miranda

Slight edge to Miranda. I have a Shepard for each. Liara is a good option to consider too. However she is alien and that is a knock against her. Jack I would rather be her friend than her partner. However if I try and be her friend she tells me to **** off :/.

Dunno. I like aliens - Tali is my #3 fav for romancing, Thane if I had any female Shep. But yeah, since I have only m!Shepards and all of them go after Ashley in ME and all of them are loyal, neither Miri nor Tali made it to LI in ME2.

Liara simply never got my attention. Maybe I don't like "devoted" women? She's a bit too uberloyal even if you don't like her a bit and use renegade options in dialogues with her. She's a fangirl of Shepard, not as bad as fanboy!Verner, but still in a way I don't want have her around all day. She's, however, a good friend.

I liked Liara in ME2 a lot more particularly after LOTSB, and even came to accept the plot armor. This was probably because the game acknowledged that since I hadn't started a romance in ME1, I would have interest only in good platonic relations. I appreciated that refreshing change in relationship dynamic, and consequently she jumped to the top of Sheps friends list as the only female who doesn't call you a traitor or try to get into your pants.

I'll be quite happy to have her along for the whole ride in ME3, as long as she doesn't start hitting on me again.

Dunno about LotSB - I don't like her more than before, but also not less. She's simply not my fav character and not of the kind of woman I would date. To be fair, that applies for Jack as well and, if Samara were a full romance, same for her. They're simply not my type.

If I had to pick a different romance than Ashley, I'd go after Miranda or Tali - both are pretty the opposite from each other (Tali - Teen crush, Miri for experienced lovers) but also quite even when it comes to "interesting story". But Jack and or Samara? They don't fit my prereq for a good (or healthy) LI. And so does Liara for me.

Don't get me wrong, they all could be interesting LI, they're just not interesting enough for me.

The whole alien thing is just personal preference on my part. I roleplay my Shepards not being attracted to other species[not saying it is wrong] just not his mindset. He just sees more in common with human females, and a stronger possibility of a lasting relationship.

Liara is a bit Mary Sue throughout the series so far, and kind of meh in Mass Effect. LotSB she is class though.

if I had to pick one, I'd pick Tali

And I rarely play MShep as well, so my top pick for FShep is Thane!!
I never really cared for the others. Not even Kaidan.

But if I had to choose 3, it would be:

1)Thane
2)Jacob
3)TIM (if he were an actual option - I think the explosiveness of their relationship could be awesome)

-- Aria T'Loak.

Romances I liked:
1.) Jack - my favorite and my canon-career LI (where I basically play as a glorified-me). I liked it because it was a relationship built on trust and respect, and I felt like it totally made sense that she and Shepard would have feelings for each other with everything they'd go through together along the way.

2.) Ashley - would have done this on my canon in ME1 but I utlimately had to sacrifice her. I felt like Ash and Shepard had the same thing going on that I later did with Jack. She's one of very few people that Male!Shep can talk to on a friendly level and in a less uptight way, he's like a different man around her. And she's not needy about it either.
3.) Tali - it's not for me, but I thought it was cute.

Romances I didn't like:
4.) Miranda - I pursued her on my first run but the romance made me lose interest in her. I still like her, but on a completely platonic level. The development is pretty much "omg what is this feeling, like, love or something?" and then when she finally does 'embrace' her feelings for him it sounds like they're closing out a business deal. Then, the dry-hump scene, on the floor, in the engineering room. It's so bad. =\\

5.)  Liara: "Shepard, is there, some kind of, attraction, between us?" (after two days)
Shepard: "I think you're right."
Liara: "I knew it. But, isn't it, strange, we only know each other for such a short time!"

Would like to see: Vega (nice to have a hot muscular dude for once), Thane (the only male LI that comes across as bisexual/gay possibility), Kasumi (we need an ethnic female LI...too many white chicks imho), Gianna Parasini (see Kasumi...she'd make the perfect Vigilante), Emily Wong (would take her over Kelly anyday)

Female Shep:
-Kaidan & Jacob (Female Vanguard)
-Kaidan (loyal) (Female Adept)
-Liara (loyal) (Female Sentinel)

Liked: Kaidan, Liara
Disliked: Jacob (the romance subplot...I love his character and my canon plans to be Mrs Taylor, but the writing was rushed and pretty sloppy). I refuse to romance a dino-raptor so forget Garrus and have yet to do a Thane-mancer.
Would like to see: Kasumi (we NEED a non-white female LI for once), Vega (to sweep FemShep off her feet in those big muscular arms...provided he isn't sweeping ManShep firstn ;-D), Engineer Donnelly (hot Scottish redhead ftw, esp now that Gabby's out of the picture in my canon)
