1. I don't think we should be adding new characters to romance in the game. Aren't the current characters enough? (Sorry Vega fans *ducks*). If we had new romances with established characters that would be okay (eg Joker or Kal Reeger).

2. My tops choices? 1-5 are Kaidan. For so many reasons. I've never met a VG character like him before.
Ash and Liara are next.
Then Jacob.
Why these characters? They are the only ones that ask Shepard how she is holding up with all of the pressure she is under. the VS in ME1. Jacob in ME2. And Liara in LotSB. This is a big issue for me that (in my mind) distinguishes a real relationship from a hook up--which some of the ME2 romances felt like to me (and yes, I've played all the femShep romance options as well as one of the mShep ones).

 Whatever the number of romances option, there is only one for my Shepards : Miranda's romance.

1. Joker (!) for paragon
2.Vega for renegade

For my one male shep -Ash only =)

1. I think 3 or 4 options would be okay without pushing it. As long as the romances don't overwhelm the player, I'm okay with having lots of options. As for past romances,  in ME3 I think Thane and Jack's relationships should only be available if you played ME2. Jack's LM is such a huge hurdle for her to get over so that she can move on, and Thane should have been recruited in order for him to have the time to fall for his Siha.

2. MY top choices? Hmmm.. Kaidan, Vega, and Garrus. Those choices go for any gender Shep; Equality for all!

It'd be really awesome to know who you think should be the options, keeping in mind that ME1 had 2 options and ME2 had 3 options in theory (minus Kelly, Samara and Morinth). 

In a personal view, I think sticking to 3 or possibly 4 options for either Shepard would be great though more than 4 options would be pushing it. Taking into considerations, if your import game has history and 'dumped' relationship characters would you not be able to pursue them again for obvious reasons.

I'm gonna put here the Romance options I've scripted for my fanfic:
MaleShep:
Ashley, Miranda, Tali and Jack only if romanced in the previous games.
New Human Squad Mate Elanie Johanson.
New Turian Squad Mate Delexia Tanis.
As-yet unrecruited Asari Squad Mate.

FemShep
Kaidan, Jacob, Garrus, Thane only if romanced in previous games.
New Batarian Squad Mate Etarn Kol'mehk.
New Quarian Squad Mate Jano'Yorish.
As-yet unrecruited Human Squad Mate.

Both:
Liara only if previously romanced.
Samara, now released from her Justicar responsibilities by her Exile.

Out of that number, who would be your top choices?
Aside from Jack, Jack, Jack and more Jack?

MaleShep would either be Jack or Delexia, with the New Asari coming in a close third (trust me, she's got an interesting story).

FemShep would have to be Etarn. The conflict of the two species adds depth to his struggle to come to terms with his emotions.

I'd like to see a number of "off normandy" romances, i don't do a whole lot of romances in games, purely because i tend to make characters who wouldn't romance people who are regularly under their command in combat.

The few that are in romances are either with Jack, or pining for Samara. I have a single FemShep with Kaidan, the rest of them are single, either waiting for an out of Normandy romance of interest, or waiting to find someone interesting enough to pull her out of her command role.

My favourite Romance is definitely M!Shep/Miranda (because this and the romances with Thane and possibly Jacob and Liara are the only ones where it does not feel like Shepard of either gender is taking advantage/damn creepy/being a really terrible commander...). I love Miranda,I think she's an amazing character and I find her romance believable. I hope IF she's romanceable for a FemShep that romance will also be good....
I guess Ash's romance might also be nice but that's the only I haven't tried yet (I just can't stand her ninja-mancing and forced friendship) so I can't comment on that

To me 3-4 options per preference seems ideal. My lists assume I'll eventually play a mShep but I'm still working through my first ME2 playthrough so I haven't gotten done with my femSheps yet).

Though from what I hear, Samara's romance attempt is flagged or import in ME3! If there is ANY chance of further romantic development, I will split my heart in two for them.
