Hello all, I am an old d&d 3rd ed. player&dm and icewind dale series player.
I missed the old days and started icewind2, but while I am killing, graphics did kill my eyes, so I found out NWN2 and bought it.
Unluckily I dont have much time as in history, so need guidance from you.
I am totally noob to game and and kind of busy nowadays and couldnt start yet.
Maybe you guyz enlighten me,
So a new game(platinum ed) has 3 campaigns to play, but seems you can download player made campaigns also for single play?
There is a section called module, well looks like a short campaign, couldnt figure it out, what is this?
Multiplayer: when i try to sign in it says authorization server down, are they really down or something wrong with me?
I still can connect to online although servers down, so what I am missing since cant connect main.
so in this section you create a personal server or join them which are like 24/7 servers like mmorpg games servers I guess, tried to join some of them but 1gb content made me cancel.
there is also a direct connect, i think its for playing an official or a player made campaign with a friend, am I right?
Sry for too many questions, hope to play with you guyz

All the modules you can download for single and multiplayer are free.
Here's a rather exhaustive list.
Here is a list of the english language modules sorted by rating.

All content you find on http://nwvault.ign.com/ is free.
All those persistent worlds (PW's) are free, the ones you describe as like small MMO's. There is a gig of (free) content you can download when you connect because the community has greatly expanded the amount of resources for the game. The average persistent world is better than a typical mmo, you know everyone, you have active DM's regularly present and running things etc.
In short, there's tons and tons of free content, much of it of very high quality, and a decent portion is beyond the quality of the official content (never underestimate dedicated amateurs without deadlines)
Welcome.

A campaign is essentially a container for one or more modules. While the game allows modules to be played separate from a campaign there are more options available in campaigns than stand-alone modules. Because NWN used stand-alone modules rather than campaigns and many of the early modders (developers) for NWN2 had also been NWN modders, for a while there were more stand-alone modules being created than campaigns. I think campaigns have been the norm for a while.
If you download a campaign and install it (see the directions that came with it, but generally the campaign folder goes into the My Documents NWN2 campaign folder and the modules into the My Documents NWN2 modules folder) you would start it by starting a new campaign. If you download a module and install it (in the My Documents NWN2 module folder) you would start it by starting a new module.
You can also downloads mods that modify the game in some way. Some are specific to the OC, MotB, or SoZ, and others are more general and may work in any campaign you play.

The Bioware server has been down for months. It was hacked and they took it off line. It hasn't come back.

You can play online. The only problem as a player (AFAIK) is that your usename/password can't be checked when connecting. Which isn't too much of a problem, really.

I also a newbie player here, could someone explain to me how I access the additional sub races in the game. I know you can be a Gold Dwarf, Sun Elf, Drow, etc, but I cannot seem to get those choices to populate when I start a new game. I have the Steam Neverwinter Nights 2 Platinum edition. Thanx!
