Hi everyone, I've a really annoying problem with the game, that I can't wrap my head around. I'm currently in chapter three, on the map called Puzzler's Sepulcher. To move forward I need to kill the second guardian, and the problem is....well, this guy is simply immortal. Every time I attack him, and make a successfull hit, I get a *weapon ineffective* message. My henchmen are lady Aribeth and the silly little kobold Deekin. None of them is able to inflict any damage to the guard either. Aribeth is actually able to hit him, but it's as if she's doing no damage whatsoever. He remains uninjured.
When i right click on him, and then select the Examine option, his Challenge status is Impossible.
I tried using cheats to increase my level, and even on max level I can't even scratch him. Still the same *weapon ineffective* message appears. The only difference was that his challenge status became Moderate... God mode was also useless.

I've completed all the quests in Cania, and my character is a human monk. If that makes any difference.

Any suggestions are welcome, because I'm out of ideas and just a few more unsuccessful attempts shy of uninstalling the game. Which would be a real shame, as I like it quite a lot.

I never had a problem with that encounter.

My first guess would be to check to see if you are using +5 or better weapons, the guardian might be immune to anything less.

After that, do everything you can to increase your best fighter's damage. The Guardian have some ridiculously high damage reduction you need to penetration.

Part of the reason that I may not remember that particular encounter as problematic is because I find it hard not to take Valen with me, and that dude deals out high damage with lots of critical hits.

My third suggestion would be to experiment with various kinds of elemental damage that might hurt him. Most creatures are vulnerable to at least something, and hopefully by this point in the game you have collected a lot of equipment that gives you lots of different things to try.

In addition to regeneration, that guardian has high damage reduction and 20 points of resistance to all five elemental types. If your monk has +7 or better gloves or can do positive, negative, divine, or magical damage, you should be able to take him. Otherwise, you are only likely to hurt him on critical hits, and his regeneration can probably keep up with that.
