It's clear you guys are drifting away from what ME1 was and are very cleary trying to appeal to the Cawadooty crowd with action mode. WE'll JUST PICK ALL THE DIALOG FOR YOU! RPG mode? really? yeah guys lets make a mode that just sits somewhere between the two and call it good. Story mode>? Was that Hamburger Helpers idea from Da2?
Trying to appeal to the action crowd for a game that was made for its narrative primarily is a great idea.

this trend does not sit well with me, they are pandering to the shooter crowd far too much

You realize that is just for the multiplayer right?
Actually, no.
The RPG mode, action mode and Story mode are all for the SP. They are not related to the MP component. As for what they actually mean, here is my take on it.
Action mode aka the "This is Gears of War in Space mode": Default Shepard option chosen. Probably a good mix of renegade because you want the casual user to feel like badass. Push more people out of windows please.
Story mode: You want to enjoy the story without dealing with the combat too much. Combat scenarios are skipped and ennemies HP is reduced.
RPG mode : Standard mode. Full combat + full story.
Here's what really struck me about these mode. I don't know why they created them. I mean, couldn't they be bothered to craft a complete package? Are they afraid that the combat is not good enough? What if the story doesn't hold up? It feels like they are catering to too many different demographics. They want the COD/GOW crowd but they don't want to alienate the RPG fanbase.

Watched the leaked video and literally just paused the video for about 5 minutes when i saw the game mode options. Story mode? Action mode? RPG Mode? Are you guys high?

Dear Princess Celestia, this week my very talented friend Rarity learned that if you try to please everypony, you often times end up pleasing nopony.

I cant blame them for trying to cover as much of the demographic as possible buts its way to late in the game for that. If you were going to do this it should have been in Me1 from the begginning. The people that werent playing this game at the start arent going to jump in now all of a sudden thanks to a few new modes
No its not. I appreciate having the option of experiencing the story of my careers without combat/action so I can see it through quickly on my first play.
Then, I'll RPG the hell out of them until I get sick of the story, then play Action mode once I want to skip the story.

Wait, so you mean you guys actually have no idea what these modes even are or how they work?
LOL! What's the point of this topic then? To make sweeping, baseless assumptions about a game and company based on something there's almost little to no information about?
Man, this is just priceless. Excuse me while I go heat up a bag of popcorn - I just have to see where this topic ends up going.

Those actually sounds like placeholder names. I wouldn't place too much stock in it..
That the names are subject to jazzing up isn't much consolation to those who are opposed to the features themselves.

Why not multplayer?
- Because, Mass Effect is a SINGLE PLAYER GAME!!!
But why can't they add a cool new feature?
- Because, it's SINGLE PLAYER!
Why does it have to be, why can't it have both?
- Because it just is, okay? It... is! IZ!!!
Same with this crap. "NO! Mass Effect has to be RPG ONLY!!! Because that's what it IS! IZZZ!!!!"
Especially when the option is there for you to play it the same way you have been all along. Typical purist screaming-into-mirror this is.

Oh I wish. I was just extrapolating on the videos of all the 3 playthroughs and the actual description for each mode.
Or you know, you could just not be on the internet.

Well, if success is playing DA2 for an hour and throwing it away in disgust, then yes, it failed for me utterly.
'Scuse, I gotta get back to my 4th playthrough of DA2.

Personally I hate the silly anti-change mentality so many people have to the game. Like with the multiplayer nonsense, I'm glad you purists got served on that one.

Would love the chance to see your face if co-op ruins the game and integrates itself way to deep into the single player game.
The multiplayer things is far from over and no one got "served" lol...
