Cool your jets, people. The demo is essentially an advertisement, and as such, they're advertising different aspects of the game for different audiences. The actual game won't have an "action mode" I assure you.

I would say that most people do not enjoy Bioware games for their combat.... They didn't become a company known for amazing stories for nothing...

I'm not disagreeing, as I also play Bioware games for the story interaction. However, that doesn't nullify that some fans may also enjoy it, or that Bioware typically spends a good amount of time developing gameplay mechanics as much as anything else. Ultimately, if all Bioware games were just about story, I think we would all be playing variations on Jade Empire's combat system (which was very simplistic) rather than games like Origins, ME2, etc.

Oh no, someone has a different play style than me. I must immediately whine about it on the forums.
Not until someone else's playstyle directly interferes with the development of the games outside their preferreed genre in order to appeal to them.

Story mode>? Was that Hamburger Helpers idea from Da2?
Very few people probably got this one. So funny.

How dare those people, being all unique and stuff!
For real, I don't care how other people play their game.

No one said that but ignoring the inherent RPG elements that should be core to the games design philosophy in an attempt to appeal to a wider audience is rediculous.
What kind of person finds that shifting a few numbers around is hard especially when their is an option to auto level up.
This isnt Baldurs gate or Fallout where you have to micro manage every point or you create a bad character and your ****ed.

If you choose to play RPG mode, then it has not impacted your gaming experience. Even the effort required to create automated dialogue would likely be minimal.

It's a demo trying to appeal to any and all possible consumers. Whether or not someone enjoys RPGs, they're still a potential $60 waiting to happen. Thus, part of the demo tries to appeal to them.

Wrong
One feature that was present in this early build is a set of game play
modes that are in development. In the beta code they are referred to as
“action mode”, “story mode” and “RPG mode”. We want to stress that these
features are still in the early stages of development and will receive
considerable iteration and refinement. These
modes are designed to give players an even finer degree of control over
their game experience than ever before. Whether it be someone who
finds the combat difficult but wants to experience the amazing story,
someone who wants to focus on the action and combat game play, or fans
who want the rich, story-driven RPG Mass Effect experience they’ve come to love – Mass Effect 3 will support all of these options. We’ll have more info in the days ahead!
From the announcement. It seems that it's a core feature of the ME3 experience. It's not limited to just the demo.

What the hell are you talking about? What does this even have to do with auto-dialogue, which lets players engage in the gameplay that much faster?

Far enough, but I think it is also fair to say that gameplay is not BioWare's biggest strength. They do story better.
I am just worried that BioWare was forced to bite off more than they can chew and that the game will suffer for it in the end. I could not think of a worse idea than forcing co-op into the last game of a trilogy. It is just bad marketing and bad decision making and it seems quite obvious it is for teh money.
But I am still Pessimistically cautious about this game and for now, I still have my Collectors edition pre-ordered....

Personally I hate the silly anti-change mentality so many people have to the game. Like with the multiplayer nonsense, I'm glad you purists got served on that one.
Why not multplayer?
- Because, Mass Effect is a SINGLE PLAYER GAME!!!
But why can't they add a cool new feature?
- Because, it's SINGLE PLAYER!
Why does it have to be, why can't it have both?
- Because it just is, okay? It... is! IZ!!!
Same with this crap. "NO! Mass Effect has to be RPG ONLY!!! Because that's what it IS! IZZZ!!!!"
Especially when the option is there for you to play it the same way you have been all along. Typical purist screaming-into-mirror this is.
Would love the chance to see your face if co-op ruins the game and integrates itself way to deep into the single player game.
The multiplayer things is far from over and no one got "served" lol...

nobody was talking about dialog we were discussing combat, and in discussing combat you are talking about all areas of it.. If you want over simplified combat thats fine but its not the game ME was intended to be.
I'm not speaking spanish now i think.

Oh, I'm 100% with you on that. The marketing/pre-release info on ME3 (imo) has been pretty crappy so far, and this leak is not making it any better.

I won't deny that development could be impacted by this, but not in any significant fashion that I think I'm either going to love or hate ME3 as a result. To me, it's about the effort required to implement sub-titles, another feature I'm likely never to use. It's not on the same scale as multiplayer, where a substantial amount of resources are being used to create a feature I'm likely never to touch.

Then don't play in the other modes sounds simple, me I'll be playing in story mode since I always pick the casual difficulty if given the option
I always do the casual difficulty first and until I reach the highest level and defeating the game, then I move on to the other level of difficulty. Like right now I am playing Batman on easy difficulty, and Mr. Freeze is still hard. So this mode must be like this:
Story Mode = Easy
RPG Mode = Medium
Action Mode = Hard
