You are assuming that it will come out in the way you are thinking and that it won't please you. Note they still have plenty of time to polish and seconded it is impossible to please everyone. (That maybe why they are doing what they are doing, also it has been stated that the three modes are not completed so they are bound to be changed or taken out completely. This was mainly for the beta of the demo anyway)Sircaptainking wrote...

No one said that but ignoring the inherent RPG elements that should be core to the games design philosophy in an attempt to appeal to a wider audience is rediculous.
What kind of person finds that shifting a few numbers around is hard especially when their is an option to auto level up.
This isnt Baldurs gate or Fallout where you have to micro manage every point or you create a bad character and your ****ed.
What the hell are you talking about? What does this even have to do with auto-dialogue, which lets players engage in the gameplay that much faster?
nobody was talking about dialog we were discussing combat, and in discussing combat you are talking about all areas of it.. If you want over simplified combat thats fine but its not the game ME was intended to be.
I'm not speaking spanish now i think.
Who the hell let the dragon age 2 team touch Mass effect 3?

It's clear you guys are drifting away from what ME1 was and are very cleary trying to appeal to the Cawadooty crowd with action mode. WE'll JUST PICK ALL THE DIALOG FOR YOU! RPG mode? really? yeah guys lets make a mode that just sits somewhere between the two and call it good. Story mode>? Was that Hamburger Helpers idea from Da2?
Trying to appeal to the action crowd for a game that was made for its narrative primarily is a great idea.
It seems pretty clear that automated dialogue was a pretty central aspect of the OP. I'm simply expressing the idea that someone can play ME3 for the combat, even if it's not something I personally would ever consider doing.

I'ts not what ME was intended to be? Bioware owns the franchise the game is whatever they want it to be since they are the ones producing it

No, actually it's EA who can faff about with "what they want the game to be" and what they want the game to be is a cash cow.

I always do the casual difficulty first and until I reach the highest level and defeating the game, then I move on to the other level of difficulty. Like right now I am playing Batman on easy difficulty, and Mr. Freeze is still hard. So this mode must be like this:
Story Mode = Easy
RPG Mode = Medium
Action Mode = Hard
I would say it is more.
Story Mode = Easy
Action Mode = Normal
RPG mode = Hard
However, I believe Mass Effect will keep its traditional difficulty levels so I actually see it breaking down more like
Story mode = Less emphasis on combat
Action Mode = Less emphasis on the story
RPG mode = How the game has always been and always should be.

Oh, I see. So you "extrapolated" the basis for your argument based on a few short videos of an unfinished beta and some vague descriptions?
And you honestly expect anyone to take you or any of the other panicked posters in this thread seriously?

The game does include its traditional modes from insanity to casual.
It's all in the leaked footage floating around.

Good point. I really was guessing myself. I must admit I am on the side of less co-op, more single player than made Mass Effect good.
But you bring up a good point that makes sense. I love some DX: HR myself.

To anyone who thinks that the options are any more than this, they're fooling themselves. The game is making itself appeal to a more general audience by allowing people to adjust how they play the game with ZERO IMPACT on everyone else.
I'll be honest and say that I normally love to have the full Story and Combat experience (save for difficulty, since I kinda suck), but when I feel bored, there are times I'd love to just skip through all the story choices and go right to the blowing **** up with big guns and biotic powers.
If that's now how you roll, just don't pick it. It doesn't hurt your gameplay experience (unless, god forbid, someone has a play style different than yours), and I really doubt the three settings were any at all hard to create. Seriously. It's probably much, much easier on processing power if you only have to load a single possible scenario to a conversation instead of dozens of possible scenarios, and gameplay difficulty can already be manually adjusted in the in-game menu.

Just thought I'd throw that in here, what with all the assurances of how crappy or un-crappy something will be.
We don't have ANY game play to work off of yet, so all this mumbo jumbo about "DIS GON REWN MAI GAYMZ FEK PLZ BIOWER DNT B BAED LIEK DIS LOL IMMA KANSIL PREORDER" is just ridiculous.
Oh, and for the Action Mode version... Boo hoo, on my fourth or fifth playthrough I press "x" on my x-box controller and skip through the story line anyway. I'm doing those play throughs for the classes, because at that point I've done Renegade and Paragon. Oh, and the combat system in Mass Effect 2 was pretty fun when you shook it up with different characters. I just played through as an Infiltrator like two weeks ago, actually, and I found it to be hella fun, and I ignored most of the story line. So a stream lined mode to get a class/character aspect down and done would be amazing.
Also, for the people griping about "Co-op directly impacting and making you get things that SP wont allow" are silly. Go read what the Devs have already said about it. You can get EVERYTHING from Single Player. Multi-player is just another way to go about getting some of those things.
Don't worry people, this game is NOT turning into a CAL - O CS 1.5 tournament. Scouts and Knives... Gogogo.

I think people see it as a general dumbing down of a game. You have to admit that design concessions were probably taken to make sure you could play the game different ways. I am of teh idea that there should only be one mode, RPG mode. That is the mode that garnered all of the passionate fans and that is the mode that will probably me played the most.
People see the adding of modes as the dumbing down of the game and appealing to the LCD of gamer. Most people bought into this game believing that there would be no multiplayer (Bioware has said that about the series) and an excellent story. They are right to lament when all evidence points to the fact that BioWare may be drifting away from what made the Mass Effect games special for so many.

using the argument that IF YOU DONT LIKE THE MODE DONT PLAY IT because it doesnt alter the stance that a company shouldn't be trying to appeal to a huge audience this late in the franchise.

"Trust what the devs and EA has said." is not really a great plan of attack either. Of course BioWare is going to say good things about the game. They may even lie or tell mistruths. We have no real fact that co-op will NOT affect the Single player more than the devs are saying.
Just saying, nobody has any facts at the moment on either side of the debate.

If BioWare deems elements unimportant (like dialogue) enough to skip...then they generally dumbed down their writing. Which is what people are upset about.

That's exactly what Mass Effect was - an action RPG.
Just don't tell anyone - it would cause peoples' "arguments" to fall apart at the seams, thus rendering all of this chest-beating utterly pointless.

Mass Effect is quite the RPG with Third Person Shooter mechanics.
That changed some with Mass Effect 2, which was more Action RPG like.
