You can always do it, the reload to a previous save. The spec is saved to your profile, not to your save game.

Unfortunately I've saved already and found out that specs go to profile just today... Thought that Jowan might be a good friend and show fellow mage a few blood tricks...

Too bad, I thought you might be able to learn it from Flemeth's grimoire, if you kept it yourself instead of handing it to Morrigan. Also there would have been opportunities to hide a book about it in some blood-mage places... On the other hand, maybe such magic can't be learned from books...

I think there are such books. If I remember correctly First Enchanter Irving has them removed from the library to his office in Mage Origin because he says they are too dangerous to keep them somewhere where everyone has access to. Old Bastard...

Yes he says that, but only after you ask him after seeing them and looking through them (codex entry). So we'll have to assume that they don't contain quite enough information. Also, it's not something you learn. You get blood magic by making a deal with a demon. (Edit for clarification: As per the game lore, you make a deal with a demon. I'm not talking about the quest where you can make a deal with a demon to get it, but it seems that even if you have the spec unlocked, for rp purposes you're making a deal with a demon by speccing it.)

Yeah, but they apparently held enough Blood magic knowledge to allow Jowan get the basics and qualify him as a blood mage...

Unless Jowan has made such a deal before the Mage origin story...
