I actually thought, given that Femshep is shorter then Manshep, when Anderson gives the "soft around the edges" line, if they're not careful THATS when it'll be looking like he's copping a feel, tied with that line.

I didn't even notice the other one.

In case it hasn't already been stated, the scene the op was referring to took place during the leaked opening when Anderson was escorting Shepard to the defense counsel's chambers. It was a gesture meant to show familiarity--the likes of which haven't really been shown in past installments--between the two, but ended up being very awkward and unprofessional.

is that the in-game way for the devs to tell me "enjoy starting back from level 1 sucker"?

I think the issue dips further than just "whaa, but my FemShep...!"

The opening indicated a lot of things to me, regarding decision making from earlier games. And it isn't good.

If my Shep chose to actually believe in TIM and despise the Alliance for leaving her for dead, she wouldn't bother listening to the Alliance at this point. She wouldn't be "taken off duty". She's a goddamn Spectre. **** that.

But we're steamrolled into the "canon" opening because it's easier for the developers. I understand that; it just doesn't sit well with me. While one of my Sheps would most definitely do as the Alliance says and remain loyal to Anderson, my other wouldn't take their **** at this point. But she is anyway, and I assume she'll automatically be nice about it as well.

No matter how hardcore a Shepard you run, being the first being to destroy an entire solar system and end 300,000 lives in one fell swoop is something Shepard - any Shepard - would own up to. Yeah, Shepard was justified, but unlike letting a bug hivequeen loose, a human destroying hundreds of thousands of lives of humanity's hateful rival has immediate and far-reaching consequences.

Don't think of it as starting from level 1. Think of it as a free respec!

My Shepard -- and me as a person -- wouldn't care. If my wise old mentor wants to jest that I'm looking soft, I'd certainly let him!

As for the weird breast comments: ****** are ******. They're sacks of fat and glands on my chest (and many other women's), and are only useful in mothering. From my experience, most women aren't insecure about their boobehs.

Add me to the list of people whose Shepard would take the banter as Anderson meant it--a good natured, non-body-shaming joke.

Ditto the life saving arm thing. My Shepard isn't 12 year old and more focused on "oh no, boobies" than "whoa, I almost just died...thanks, man!"

Actually, it's pretty funny that some men are more insecure about women's breasts than women themselves are.

* OMG I touched her breasts, she's gonna hate me now, HELP! *

@schneidend

The devs stated that we got our level reset in ME2 because they wanted a seamless transition in ME3 (read with no reset)...so yeah I'd rather NOT import a level 30 shepard and find out that he sat on a couch reading fornax and eating varren skewers getting fat so I can AGAIN experience the pleasure to start from level 1

IRT: Anderson's "soft" comment:

Soldier Femshep: "So?"
Engineering-capable Femshep: "Give me about 2 hours back in the labs, I'll fix that right up for you."
Adept Femshep: "It seems I'm not the only one, then."

As for the chest-grab: None of the Shepards I've played would even care. If they even noticed.

Eh, whatever. The skill point system is completely different, anyway. I'd rather learn as I go than derp around with a level 30 built like a house of cards like somebody who bought a max level character in an MMO.

Anderson: Getting "soft" around the edges
Shepard: Touche'...desk life hasn't been kind to you

Boobs? Meh, he was saving my life. I would still be recovering from the adrenaline rush of almost falling.

I think that would be ridiculous.
"Going a little soft around the edges?"
*punches him out*
*security grabs Shepard*
*Shepard in prison while Reapers be reapin'*

Roll credits for ME3, totally worth the wait...

AdmiralCheez wrote...

Wait, why is it that telling a woman she's gained weight grounds for punching suddenly, but it's just playful banter if it's telling a guy he's put on weight?

Screw this.

Anderson: You're fat.

FemShep: Yup. Deal with it.

This!

actually...the point system is pretty much identical in concept with more branching and more paths. If you played ME2 you'd be 100% fine

level cap is 60 in ME3 so even importing a level 30 character would not fit your example of getting a maxed out MMO character AND you can always do a full respec

LOL! Omg I love it.

Seriously though, I see nothing wrong with either of these. "Going soft" is just a little joke, I'd imagine. And he was saving her life, so I don't think she'd care.

It's rare for me to find an issue of gender that I don't, in fact, care about. Well done.

With any luck, and if ME2 is anything to go by, Anderson will just be hugging the air or giving Femshep a clothesline anyway. On a more serious note, assailing Anderson is a little extreme and I'm sure those posters were merely joking, but the banter is slightly unusual and they may well change it(or skip)

Okay, I'm getting that he grabs her around the waist during a rescue. That's different. "I'll have Rupert whip you up some of his calamari gumbo."

If it was onboard ship and a pat on the stomach, that's an entirely different thing.
