So many ideas being thrown around that it's hard to even guess. However, two ideas I think that are plausible would be either A.) dealing with post Reaper War chaos as the galaxy struggles to re-build itself, or B.) a timeskip a few decades and/or centuries later as we explore and rediscover what has happened to the galaxy in the interim. Whether the format of the next game will be single player like the trilogy or an MMO style game is anyone's guess.

Shepard will not be part of it, directly at least. Bioware already stated that ME 3 will end that story.

However, the greatest danger will be from boredom.

Yeah I just think at end of ME3, something may cause the species of the galaxy to oppose each other, leading to inevitable conflict and opening for an MMO, though they won't do it so soon after TOR

that's why there ending the shep story..

if the reavers are done there nothing to make game  for him thats why there  probably going to make new chapter 200 years down the road the  me universe or maybe aother character  will have  to look for him /her to find  something that was changed in the battle[brainstorming}

And honestly, I really don't think the series will end with ME3. The series is too popular for that.

It'd be like if Halo ended with Halo 3. A ton of wasted potential, IMO.

Maybe each Galaxy has it's "own Reaper fleet", and we will have to contact these Galaxies and help them (using the Citadell relay to travel between galaxies) out. Maybe, don't know

don't know much about software/game development but it seems to me that with multiplayer implemented already, after the initial investment to it build out, the MMORG provides the greatest return - I would guess add-on development costs are fraction of what it would cost to do a new series. Never played one of these online things - does not sound at all attractive - unless I'm wrong game play will have to degenerate to a individual or team based (yech) combat level shooter with plot, dialog and character development taking a decided back seat - tell me I'm mistaken, please. At my advanced age, I do not look forward with much anticipation to competing with/being bested by pimply 14yr olds...

Don't think it'll center on Khalee - too much canon on her already - Gillian maybe - we'll find her on her isolated planet where the quarians abandoned her aftthe couldn't take her weirdness - Gillian's Island...

Look at it this way. There was a million different conflicts small, medium and large in Star Trek that had nothing to do with the Borg.

its gotta be another story coming, they wouldn't bother to end a story like this unless they have planned on ending and making new chapter but with different antagonist i would love to be child or something time related to shep storyline after the ravers get creamed would make it a fun star trek game persay when kirk and crew went back in time an stng did the same only fitting that they did something to screw with the time line but who would be the protagonist??

Surely it could be set in the past, less worry about choices from the current mass effect games etc

Next challenge will definitely be the MassTpke Effect - wherein Shep, Tali, Liara, Ash, Kaiden and the rest of the gang all take summer shares at the same place on the Cape, and we follow the hijinx as they make the weekend trek from the Back Bay to clambakes and lobster fests, all the while laughing at those squiddy-looking things following in the camper behind them...

that or there in the old age home for retired heros that tell stories to the young up coming heros when they come to visit them and only  gross them out whe they use there biotics and  there arm falls off. and doesnt bleed.

I'm guessing the council races will be eyeing each other up, depending on who was the hardest hit during the Reaper invasion they'd take over their territory.
