Thanks for the update Chris, hopefully the fuss will subside now and it'll soon be safe to browse these forums again for those who want to avoid spoilers.

Why should be take Chris' word on that?  Even if we do, there is a lot less said in the OP than meets the eye.....

-Polaris

exactly. what if they realised that major sloppy story and character writing and lack of choices has leaked and they can't do anything about it ,as game ships in 4 months, so they just try to cover it all up.

That is a non-sequitor.  If it's not correct, then you're no worse off than if you hadn't read anything.

However, I am confident that it IS (basically) correct.  I'll be hear to say "I told you so" on 7 March.

-Polaris

This and this would have been correct if ME2 Beta was leaked or many stuff we seen in ME2 would have been incorrect if we read it in same files with those 2?

All I really care about is being able to browse these forums without some idiot spoiling the entire game for me. Whether or not the spoilers that were leaked (which I haven't read and will not read) are true, I'm hoping this update from Chris will get people to settle down a bit and stop more spoiler threads from being created. I wouldn't put any money on that last bit actually happening, but I can remain hopeful.

ETA: I heard some people are really unhappy with what they've read, calling it a rubbish plot and other things, but this is BioWare. They've worked towards this for years. I don't really believe they'll end the series with a badly written plot full of cliches and a deus ex machina to beat the Reapers. That would be totally BioWare unworthy and they know it. I'm not worried...

We are not going to create a spoilers section of the forum for this leaked information. While the leak does hint at or indicate some story details, it does not reveal the final story spoilers. We will be opening a Story/Spoilers forum closer to game launch.

Glad to hear it. ^_^

They can't be that old since they were for the last beta test of the Demo before it was to be released in Jan.  Consider too that the basic story arc and lines are finalized FIRST.  Yes there can be some tweaking and deletions done later, but the major story won't change much from even a year old draft.

-Polaris

If you knew anything about modding you would know game files contain tons of old, unused & outdated stuff. FACT. Devs rarly bother erasing old & out-dated stuff. Go look into files of other BioWare games, you will see tons of cut/modified content.

4 months left and still working on story? sorry but i don't believe you. You don't have time to implement choices people want (from all negative feed back about spoilers) so you just tell people it's not "done" and "not accurate".

We don't know how old those files are though. According to Chris, they are first draft level. We know ME3 was playable last Christmas. The story files could be over a year old, for all we know.

I don't think those files were meant to be in there at all.

After all if those files were up to date, why would they still be in a rough form? As you said, by now the story elements of the game should be like 99% complete.

They're probably just tweaking bits now. Adding lines here, probably nothing incredibly major. However, it's likely the beta build is at least 6 months old, which means the script could be older, possibly from early this year or even earlier (we really have nothing to go on here). Like several have said, while it might contain certain key spoilers the execution could vary immensely (and in some cases will have to, considering all we have for a lot of missions is a journal description and some disconnected bullet points). It's entirely likely the leaked script isn't accurate with regards to the final product, which is not to say the kernels of plot are different.

I'd say it's not entirely accurate (some details might change), but I'd say the general plot outline is pretty darn accurate.

If you didn't know, they finished key romances a week ago.

Friendship relationships 1-2 months ago.

They also created new female character 2-3 months ago.

Fortunately, I have have avoided any and all spoilers and I will be starting a complete media blackout on Mass Effect 3. I don't even intend on playing the eventual demo. But what I don't understand is how people can do this? My heart goes out to the fans who have invested a good part of themselves, fallen in love with every aspect of the Mass Effect universe, and who have had the privilege of enjoying the truly beautiful experience of playing the first two games like myself, only to have had the final chapter spoiled by some **** who think it's just hilarious to ruin the most important part about a story, the end. I will never understand a person like that. I believe the word "troll", isn't harsh enough.

The stuff with the VS is so bewildering, if Bioware had simply lied and said it was fake, I would have believed them.

For sake of us all, if spoiler are indeed accurate i hope they have time to change VS parts and implement choices on characters fates.

Indeed.  What BW is not saying is at least as revealing as what they do say.

What did the script say about the VS?

What's the difference between "key romances" and other romances? Are the "key romances" the ones for the permanent squadmates?

See the last two pages of the now locked ME3 Story Leaked thread and read the spoilers.  It's explained there.

Considering this leaked Beta story at least outdates E3( it can be way older), it is highly possible.

No idea, Mac Walters never responded to that question.

That figures. Romances had nothing at all to do with the plot or missions in ME1&2.

No it doesn't. We already knew it wasn't 100% accurate, but clearly some of it does offer a decent representation of what's actually going to be in the game all that remains to be scene is exactly how much of it does.
