Ok, lay off the personal attacks. I know some people will rightly take what I have said and accept it. I also know that there will be people who doubt what I have said (to varying degrees) and that is fine too. As mentioned, we aren't going to say "this and this are in the game, this hints and what is in the game and all this isn't" or similar. The smartest action is to avoid spoilers.

We will be working to prevent people from "spoiling" the game with the material leaked as it does not accurately reflect the final product, BUT it can certainly give the impression of ruining the moment. As people have said, they will play the game when they can and some will try to say "I told you so" or whatever. To then I say "have fun" as they'll be playing an awesome game while they look for those "I told you so" moments.

To those who say "I am gone until the game ships", I do recommend you follow us on Facebook and Twitter and continue to check the Mass Effect 3 website to make sure you stay up to date on the latest ME3 news, the demo, etc. When you are ready, the forums will be here when you get back. :)

Thanks for the very clear update, Chris. I'm glad that Bioware is endorsing a spoiler-free policy for the BSN. :-)

And they say sarcasm doesn't work on the internet ^_^

You do know that Jimmy is an informal version of James, right?

So why BioWare never referred to him like that in 2011? And why do they call him James in other version of the script? Not to mention, he dies very early on in one of the versions of the script which obviously was changed.

I'm saying this because there are people who actually thought that script was the current and finalised one.

Edit: removed large nest of quotes.

And they CAN'T say x is inaccurate since then people will know y is accurate, cause it spoils the game.

That is a non-sequitor.  Just because x is confirmed to be inaccurate doesn't confer any information about y.  I agree that all other things being equal it's best not to say anything.  The problem BW has now is all other things are no longer equal.  There are definate issues that people are having with the leaked information, and that damage will continue until and unless it's confirmed or denied.  Better to remove a foot than lose an entire limb (or your life).  The same principle applies here.

So Bioware should spoil an entire game as a damage control just because some some people can't understand this is a rough script that outdates at least E3?

That's ridiculous logic there.

Oh, really? I would've thought the fact that it didn't read like a script at all and was mostly rough outlines would've clued them in. Some people are just crazy, I guess.

I'm not sure who you think has actually said that.  It certainly wasn't me.  I've said many times that details might differ and things might be deleted but the major points are probably very accurate.  That's my position.

Bull****. If they squshed x plot detail but not y detail you would assume y was true or they would of said it wasn't true as well.

Exactly.
Whole point of this is to have fun experience, not to be a ****** and wait 4 months to say to someone "I told you so".

No it's not.  It's a simple fact that right now some (I'd say many) people are up in arms over various details that were leaked.  If those details are wrong then Bioware is being damaged for nothing and it would behoove them to correct it.  Failure to do so engenders a perception that the offending material is accurate.

Well, it is draft notes, it isn't entirely strange that Mac (or whoever) just referred to him as Jimmy while writing notes. It isn't odd for writers to refer to characters with pet names or casual versions when writing story notes.

I agree with you in principle, btw, I just think your logic here re: James' name is kinda flawed.

It is very a small number of people who believe this is 100% in game.

And only way to get this leaked info now is through BSN over PM from users and small forums.

I think what Mesina means is that if Bioware goes out and says X is wrong then people will get a strong hint that Y is correct. Mostly because if Y was also outdated information, why did they not mention it together with X?

*sigh*

This script at least outdates E3.

That's 4-5 months of time to change stuff.

And hell, it can be even older!

And I'm going to guarantee you that people are still going to call this BS and continue whining.

Yep. I don't believe you. For that matter neither does Game Informer or many others out there.

I will be ready to say "I told you so" on 7 March.

-Polaris

i honestly don't understand, what are you still doing on these forums? it's clear that you didn't like plot or direction for ME3 as presented by the info from the leak.

now all you do is spew out these negative comments bashing the game and anyone who believes ME3 will be an epic game (whether they liked the spoilers or didn't read them and have faith in their beloved franchise), while signing off with that idiotic(and eccentric) "- Polaris" sign off (thinking you take the time to add that to your every comment alone is sad). really "Polaris"? are you, sir, in fact a spaceship? i'll be damned...

Information like this is viral and the release date is five months away.  That's four months too long to start damage control.

There is also quite a large precedent of Bioware sidestepping and denying everything that leaks until it turns out to actually be be true. Legion leak, Multiplayer etc. This time though, this time is different because they say it is.

There is also the GeOW 3 debacle to remember. The game was leaked 3-4 months before release and the dev said that it was an internal beta with an outdated story and people shouldn't read about it because they might spoil themselves. If this turns out  differently than that did  I will personally send a copy of Xenoblade to Priestly.

4-5 months is nothing especially this late in Dev.  In fact the main story arc/plot is (and has to be) the first thing that's finalized.  Details may differ but not the basic accuracy.
