Hey all!

Sorry if this topic has been allready posted somewhere else, but I couldn't find it, and I thought it's an important topic.

At the end of Mass Effect 2 we saw a huge Reaper fleet, with different kinds of Reapers ( www.youtube.com/watch ), but in the Mass Effect 3 trailer, and in the demo we ONLY saw "Sovereign" looking Reapers.

I hope this is just in the beta and in the demo and BioWare will change this in the final version, cause it would feel lame to see Sovereign looking Reapers everywhere (it's obvious that we will see same looking Reapers, as the Reapers probably created more then just one Reaper out of a race, but as I said in the demo and in the trailer we only saw Sovereign like Reapers, everywhere).

What's your thoughts about this? Maybe BioWare allready posted a reaction about this in the forum and I've just missed it? :)

Sorry if this topic is a duplication :)

From what I saw in the ME2 ending, they all look the same except for some minor alterations in the shape of their bodies, and seen from different angles.

If you mean Reapers based off other species like the Human Reaper, and considering the new species of husks, it is plausible we will encounter different types of Reapers at some point.

I've counted at least 5 very different looking Reapers in the video I have linked (pause it at 0:01 and look at the right and the left one for exmaple: different eyes, different shapes).

Oh, you mean the lights on their bodies? Yeah, that's different. I thought you meant completely different shapes haha.

Who knows, though. Apparently the Reapers will come in many different sizes. There's a chance we will spot more visual differences as we play the game.

There will be at least four different types of Reapers, so don't worry. Be happy.

Didn't someone from BioWare said that the Reapers all look similar on the outside (their exoskeleton or whatever it is) and the core... thing... whatever looks like the species it was made from?

Yes, they did say that, but at the ME2 ending you can clearly see some reapers having a different form of the usual reaper, 'specially Harbinger.

Look at this picture taken from the ending scene of ME2: images3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20111030074512/masseffect/images/thumb/6/69/Reaper_fleet.png/830px-Reaper_fleet.png

They don't look the same, not at all.

In the Mass Effect 3 trailer, in the demo and even on the magazines cover we only saw the Sovereign type reapers. I repeat ONLY. We don't see any of those reapers seen at the ending of ME2.

I go even further: at the ending of ME2 I didn't see a single Sovereign type Reaper! So uhm... I hope BioWare will change this in the final version of the game :)

Remember that only the Reaper 'cores' take on the shape of the species the Reaper is based. The Reaper shell takes on the same basic shapes, but as others have pointed out, there are some differences (number of legs/tenacles, lighting patterns, body shape).

Oh man, the trailers didn't show everything? Especially this one specific detail! I'll let Bioware know they need to get back to work!

Also, according to the spoilers that shall not be named, there are different classifications of Reaper ships. The classification that Sovereign fell under are also the ones used for taking over industrial cities. So it makes sense you'd see alot of those on Earth.

But you didn't hear that from me.

I agree with the OP. At the end of ME2 you can see how all the Reaper hulls roughly follow the same basic pattern, but nonetheless they are all distinctly unique. EDIT: at least of the ones we can see in the foreground...

In the ME3 demos/trailers all the Reaper ships seen landing on Earth looked identical - but I'm guessing there are different classes of Reaper ship to the ones seen at the end of ME2? Perhaps there are multiple classes e.g. the big daddies seen at the end of ME2, which each look unque on the outside (see Harby, Sov, etc.), the ones seen landing on Earth which are all identical, the ones seen walking on the surface, etc.

I got the feeling the ones we saw at the end of ME2 were the largest and most powerful of their fleet.

That wouldn't make sense... why the core/shell difference when they don't need to worry about moving through air or water?

Theres big sovereign reapers and smaller ones that crawl through on land, like spiders. Also they use decives similar to the collector's oculuses to destroy fighters.

there are reapers the size of skyscrapers, and there are those 2km long dreadnought basterd, gonna be a blast of a game.
Also BW stated that the reapercore resembles the species it was made off, quite silly, and an obvious late-fix for the generic look the reaper fleat had.

 "Why they all look alike"
BW "they look different inside" :wizard:
 "that makes sense"

The only differences I've noticed between ANY reapers is the size and how big their heads and tentacles are. Well, I also noticed the ones that seem to be walking on the ground.

Seems to me Bioware is just gonna give us 4 or 5 different varieties of mollusks and crustaceans as basic shapes for them with dimensions being the only other variation. a shame, since I'd love to see variety in design, to represent races wiped out in past cycles.

Doubtful, since Harby is just a wider Sovereign.

Also the "unique reaper core" thing:
That is possibly the worst possible excuse for cutting corners that I've ever heard, read, or seen.
It breaks Canon, too *points at Human Reaper*.
The very idea of this excuse irks me.

People on here have some bad sense of scale. The Reapers you seen in the demo are not the 2 km long monsters Sovereign was.

No, those devices ARE oculi.
