The "ME3 will suck" thoughts lately have been plentiful to say the least. Im apparently part of the minorty that expects ME3 to be a great and better game than ME 1 and 2.

i want to have (or attempt to have) are small discussion on why people think ME3 will be bad and what proof there exists of that.

first of all i would like to say that i am not part of this "broader audience" that some people have been branded as simply for belieiving in the game. i dont love shooters, i hardly even like them, and ME2 is my favorite game of all time (lets see how much crap i get for saying that)

ok so someone please tell me in the most calm and logical way why ME3 could possibly be a bad game. please dont use any "broader audience" quotes, as those are simply a marketing strategy to get more players.

also please no spoilers from the leaked files, but i have watched the beta footage so thats all good.

I don't think you're in a minority. Plenty of people are still psyched for ME3.

There's always a vocal minority of belligerent haters that can be safely ignored. The big ones on the Bioware boards are the people with rose-tinted glasses.

They're just not the vocal ones.

I don't know that they're less vocal, it's just that they have less to say in light of recent events beyond "keep up the great work BW" or similar. Whereas the people who aren't happy with recent developments... well, they have more to say. And lest I be mistaken for a BSN member with a typically Either/Or mindset, let me say I don't see these two groups as being mutually exclusive.

im not happy with everything BW is doing, but that is pretty much impossible. however the poeple that are unhappy seem to heavily express their unhappiness over and over again.

It is like a fire, theres a spark and a ton of combustible material. People have valid concerns. There's a document that contains just enough info to suggest those concerns are merited. A fire rages.

I read the leaked info regarding the ME3 plot and I have to say that this is going to be one hell of a ride. The game is going to be great!!! That's all I need to say about that....

There are concerns, but I think it's because ME3 is so close to being amazing. Just seeing these little bits and pieces that aren't so great, people get scared and make a big deal out of it. Multiplayer in particular, but I think before the data mine, the beta's leak was actually some good reassurance for many people, particularly the Sur'Kesh segment.

I've been scared for months, but since the confirmation of multiplayer and the explanation of how it would work, I've actually become even more optimistic. I'll probably abandon these forums once Skyrim arrives, however, just to forget the mess these boards can become in the last 4 months. I remember before ME2 was released how insane the forums got. They're reaching that stage quicker than ever, and mainly because ME3 is the biggest game.

I'm eager for ME3, but once Skyrim is in my hands, it's a media blackout for me until ME3 arrives. That is, if I can control myself. :P

From what I can gather is that most people that have read spoilers is that an extremely weak and cliche plot device(s) is used. Which can be pretty disheartening when not coupled with the entire game and just read from a few notes thrown together.

It always boggles my mind when people have decided they won't like the game before playing it, they spend so much time saying how terrible the game is going to be. Hey its fine if you figure that a game isn't going to be up your alley, but why continue to waste the time on the forums throwing temper tantrums and engaging in passive aggressive arguements with those looking forward to it?

I mean I "knew" I wasn't going to like Resident Evil 5 despite loving RE 1, 2, 3, and Code Veronica. Did I ever even post one negative thing expressing how horrible it was going to be? Nope, because that would have made me a pathetic, whiney, immature stooge. Did I begrudge people who were looking forward to it or (GASP!?) even liked the game? Nope, because doing so would make me a arrogant, holier-than-thou, narcissistic jerk. And when it came came out, did I buy it? Nope. Did I ever try it? Yup, and didn't like it. Did I go back to the forums and ranted about how one of my old favorite franchises "betrayed me" and how Capcom was dead to me? Nope. Why? Because I, like the silent majority and many other fellow gamers, are far more well adjusted than that.

I'm not down personally, but I can sense that other people are about this whole leaked spoiler fiasco. If it helps remember all the gameplay stuff that we've been promised, the locations we will see, the, old and new character we will see and meet and reporters we will punch.

People saying me3 sucks are gona be proven wrong. People saw the da2 script and thought the game was still good, look how that turned out. Never make an assumption on the script it's written without any emotion. Plus almost everyone on the BSN flys off the handle at every little thing.

I think it is inmportant to remember that even the people who are currently, shall we say, on teh negative side are only there because they love he Mass Effect series and are worried that what we have revealed so far doesn't conform to their expectations of ME3.

This doesn't mean that they hate ME3 (I do grant there are a very small number of people only here to cause trouble, but we try to downplay them asap), it just means they want clarity and, to some degree, reassurance that we aren't screwing up a title they care about.

they already said the leaked script was partly scrapped and/or revised, i dont understand why people are still using it as evidence that the story sucks.

TBH the more I actually see of the game the more excited I get. Even for an unfinished beta it looked like a blast to play. ME2 is my all time favorite game and I'm confident ME3 will surpass that. The only concern I have for ME3 is that we might end up with alot of missions where we can't really pick our squad. I'm ok with no permanent squadmates but I'd still like a roster to choose from for each mission to add some replay by bringing different people along b

Sarunas - because people assume it's final script and it won't change. they've forgot about one thing. ME3 is still in development, there are many things to be done, added, etc...

i think comments from devs and such should be enough to reassure them some what, i mean you are the ones who know the game the best. i often see people disregard what the bioware employees say. it kinda shows the one sided view they have about the little we know about the game... i doubt much will change until they play it for them selves and are proven wrong (or right, making me the person on the wrong side) at least we know that people like you are listening and not taking BSN too seriously when it hardly has anything good to add.

I think that's a large exageration at least in my case.  What I am afraid of (and with good reason I think) is that it's far too late for substantive changes to be made that deal with what I feel are substantive issue in the story (the huge one for me being the apparent lack of respect for our big choices in ME1 and ME2).

Same NYG. I dunno if I can call either ME games my absolute favourite though they are definitely near there. I doubt it will be like that all the time though. Mainly for important Assignments and Side-campaigns I'm sure and some will probably just act on their own as guests.

The leak was hard to read and understand, and rather than devote brain power to the fact that perhaps there was quite a bit missing, they applied that brain power to filling in holes with supposition or overanalysing things that did not meet their preconcieved notions.

Many people also liked what they saw. I, for one, am optimistic about what's coming based on a very rough, disjointed and incomplete story gathered through a datamine.

Take that as you will.
