ME 1 is my favorite of the two games, it was hardly a letdown for me. It's not Origins to DA2 type drop off, but I still prefer the first ME.
I'm split on ME2 DLC. I liked LOTSB, & Overlord. Stolen Memory was alright. The rest I could have done without.
To be honest the main thing I really liked better in ME1 than ME2 was the good build up to the epic climatic final battle and the revelation at Illos that gave a Atmosphere of doom and despair if you fail. The conversation with Vigil pretty much told you how utterly screwed you were if the Reapers came. Even Sovereign itself was just great and it built up rather well.
Now ME2 build up to the Suicide mission didn't really work out to well. The loyalty missions did interfere with the build up (no matter how fun or good they were) even teh Suicide mission itself while visually gorgeus and effectively getting you hyped it basically felt more like a Big Goddamn heroes moment.
Edit: I guess at that point I didn't really feel the Collectors were that much of an enemy since you were supposed to be ready to whoop all kinds of ass, save your crew, not take casualties and kill a freaking Reaper while riding a damn explosion.
Virmire was my favorite mission in either game, followed closely by Ilos.
I didn't care about the Collectors really because they were an afterthought in the game. The Illusive man would send you out fetching people, then everyone once in a while he would stop everything you were doing, force you back to the Collectors. He'd send you out for a mission, and then give you the next list, then rinse and repeat.
So I never really looked at the Collectors like I looked at the Geth or Saren in ME1.

To be honest the Loyalty missions kind of messed it up. ME2 build up was great but ME1 was a little better (not significantly so).
Edit: Seriously I was expecting a rather awesome ship to ship fight with the Collector vessel but that was a bit of a let down. Still its understandable why it had to be short.

The only thing that has me down are the ammount of downers here. I have read the spoilers and it increased my anticipation of the game not diminish it. I don't get how some people just can't realize those notes are very old. I see people mention that our choices don't matter, where praytell was that mentioned? Answer it wasn't people just don't like that some choices arent there but Bioware themselves have said past decisions will matter. I believe them. They havent let me down on ME 1 or Me 2 with the exception of Pinnacle Station. They won't let me down now.

THIS !!!
Also, unless a long running and meaningful poll is offered it is simply hard to truly quantify the downers & whiners... but, I suspect the vast - mostly silent - majority of the folks that frequent these forums do so because they trully love the series and just can't stay away.
By the same token, even some of the chronic whiners could just be implicitly expressing their emotional attachement to the ME series and regard any evolutionary change and progress as a challenge.
Cheers

Which is just another classic example of the vague, marketing talk that makes you think one thing, but means another by avoiding a direct answer. More of that "the truth you hear" stuff.
So ignore that equivocal stuff in favor of the direct statements. Such as this one:Chris Priestly wrote...
It is not taking away resources from Single Play as we have said many times.
Not really a lot of ways to interpret that.
I'm sorry, but this direct statement also didn't have a lot of ways to be interpreted:
+Chris Priestly wrote...
No.Has Dragon Age 2 been rushed?
Chris Priestly wrote...
Rushed - not enough time taken to make the item top quality. What's your definition of "rushed"?
And I'm really sorry about bringing this into the ME3 discussion, but I just wasn't able to forget it. And after that, when people were asking for a ME3 multiplayer statement other than "rumors, rumors, nananananana" all we got was "you wouldn't believe me anyway". Even back then I still would have believed most anything. Now I'm just gonna stay pessimistic until we get more than talk.
Some clarification on the Origin issue for example would be most welcome, preferably before this year is over. And yeah, I know you're working on this.

Which is a rewording of what Chris said (or rather, what someone at BW posted using Chris' login) earlier in the thread. And I agree. I only whine about the ME games because they're good enough for me to hate them.

The problem I have with you assertion is the idea that there is some kind of "Evolutionary change and progress" happening here, there's nothing other than interrupts that hasn't been done before, 100 times before, and in many cases done alot better.
Name a feature and I'm pretty certain I can name a game that used it.
The whole "Evolutionary! Progressive!" thing is marketing talk. Just like "Immersive! Cinematic!", it's the same stuff that's been in other games. Seriously, the combat? Gears of War. The minigames? KotOR, Final Fantasy 7, Fallout 3. The Shooter with illusionary RPG elements? Deus Ex, NOLF 2, System Shock 2. The coversation system and presentation? A decade of Adventure games. The weaponry? Every shooter ever, and almost in every case done much better. The "Choice and Consequence"? Fallout, Fallout 2, Planescape, and others. The romances? It's the same system in every Bioware game.
So where exactly is this "Evolution and progress"? Because pretty much every feature of the game has been done before, so I'm not real clear on where this evolution and progress is that I'm supposedly resisting?
So no, it's not a "Challenge", it's obviously bad design and worse project management that's going to end up killing what could have been an incredible game, much the same way the exact same problems killed DA2.

So if the gameplay is the same as ME 2 that is bad design and product management? I couldn't disagree more. ME 2 is IMO a masterpiece as will ME 3 be.Gatt9 wrote...

To be serious saying ME2 is a masterpiece would on here is about as equal to saying was a piece of ****. Two opinions that people will argue over. The main difference is that if you don't agree with the latter opinion its possible you will be shown to be on the BDF.
