I'm not saying I like it, I'm just curious as to whether there are people that are fans of the series. I mean, I've seen three reviews of MW3 and a lot of the comments seem angry at the game getting higher scores than they think it deserves. Even before MW3 was revealed at E3 2011, people were talking about how repetitive the games were or how the multi-player was "broken" or that the storyline was hard to follow.

So, are there any fans of the series on this forum?

6 hour campaigns that are always the same as the last game.
Multiplayer that encourages immature behavior.
Whats not to like?
Honestly the appeal is completely lost on me. You've played one game you've played them all.

I was quite a big fan of World at War but then my brother stole my copy. So I decided not to buy any other CoD game in fear he would steal it again and eventually I just lost complete interest in the series.

IMHO, they're the Madden of FPS games - same game, different year, different number.

I can pick them up,play and enjoy (usually play online with my brother around his house) But it's not a game series I can see myself ever coming back to much after playing once.

I love CoD games. The story is pretty damn good, the multiplayer is fun(that is, when other players aren't being cheap), and is generally a good time.

There's always some issues with the games based on opinions. MW3 is pretty good, I like it. It has things I like and things I don't.

So yeah, I like CoD.

I like CoD games just fine on an individual basis, i just don't think that enough changes between titles to justify the price tag.

Call of Duty is ok, if I'm going to play a FPS I'm going to play Gears of War or a valve FPS.

Is this when we all say FPS's are for morons and anyone who plays them are childish morons, and that games like Witcher 2 are for intelligent people?

No, this is where people say that for all the resources that go into developing CoD, there isn't a lot of innovation.

I don't know about you, but who goes into a FPS looking for innovation?

If the whole industry had that kind of mentality, we'd still be playing goldeneye clones.

Meh, I don't really care about CoD. I don't like it. I don't hate it.
It just exists. Like greengoron89 said, it's like the Madden/FIFA/Final Fantasy of the FPS genre.

I do think, however, Modern Warfare tries waaaaaay too hard to shock its audience.

We'd still be playing Doom

^. I never really get hyped up for 1st person shooters that rely on their  their multiplayer component as its main selling point. The only 1st shooters I like are the ones that put narrative ahead of that, such as Half-Life, System Shock and Bioshock (well, the first one, anyway.)

But this is different. If it ain't broke, why fix it? I'm not saying that we should discourage innovation, but CoD doesn't sell tens of millions of copies a year cause people hate it or think it's repackaged. And to the people that like to blame the marketing, you both severely underestimate people's intelligence and over estimate Activiosion's marketing skills.  But to stay on point, when the fans start complaining, then IW should drastically change the CoD formula, till then I'll just keep enjoying it.

It's not broke by 2006 standards, but it's becoming a relic. I'm just saying that with all the money they're getting, they could develop something much better.
