If the whole industry had that kind of mentality, we'd still be playing goldeneye clones.

But this is different. If it ain't broke, why fix it? I'm not saying that we should discourage innovation, but CoD doesn't sell tens of millions of copies a year cause people hate it or think it's repackaged. And to the people that like to blame the marketing, you both severely underestimate people's intelligence and over estimate Activiosion's marketing skills.  But to stay on point, when the fans start complaining, then IW should drastically change the CoD formula, till then I'll just keep enjoying it.

It's not broke by 2006 standards, but it's becoming a relic. I'm just saying that with all the money they're getting, they could develop something much better.

You could say that about Pokemon as well.
Or the Mario games. And many other franchises which just refuse to evolve. That's a bit ironic coming from Pokemon.

Didn't the head of Activision fire the creators of the call of duty series?

I'm not Pokemon, I'm bobobo, my latest Pokemon run is on blue, and I'm not buying another pokemon game unless they adopt 3d environments and battles at the least.

Whether CoD continues to stagnate as a series is unimportant - the FPS genre doesn't need CoD to move forward, not when many other amazing FPS series and games are more than capable of doing that themselves.

The sad thing is...CoD sells millions and millions, and games which try something different don't sell half of that.
Sometimes they even bomb.

They did. Some many left that A new Dev team called Sledgehammer (which is a lot of the ppl that made Dead Space) helped develop MW3.

I want to see a full-size console JRPG version of Pokemon with a battle system similar to that in the Tales or Star Ocean games. It should also expand on the "Secret Base" element from earlier games and offer more customization and also allow you to customize your trainer with different clothes and such.

i Don't have anything against the games themselves, i think they're fine, they're fun i guess, i don't actually buy them(except for COD4, which i still hold as the best one), but i do enjoy playing them when a friend invites me to his house and asks to play with him.

And Really, ****ing about COD is not gonna do anything, it's gonna be laughing all the way to the bank, no matter what i say, no matter what anybody says.

What i detest is Activition's Constant Milking of it, to the point that people keep trying to Imitate COD, and even milk what they have.
it's giving a terrible example to the Industry.

THAT'S what i hate.

That'd be something truly interesting and fun to play.
But as long as the same tired formula continues to sell, they won't try anything new. I'm quite sure of that.

Err, you're talking about JRPGs here - the most stagnant, unchanging genre of games in the industry IMHO. They make the transition between Call of Duty games look like the transition from Super Mario World to Super Mario 64, for crying out loud.

I like Black Ops a lot. The multiplayer is a fun way to win in competitive activities that don't require you to be strong or smart! Indeed, Black Ops is like the Olympics for us fat and stupid people.

I've played Call of Duty since it came out. They've been decent but I've given up on the series after the multiplayer for Black Ops failed to work properly for me. It became a $60 digital paper weight...

I'm ambivalent about it. The knock against the series seems to be a lack of innovation. But if it sells, it sells.

My opinion on modern warfare games is the same as modern mario games - they're great as a rental, but it's not pushing the envelope enough to lure me into spending $60.

I only played CoD 1, and that was too much shooter for me...so yeah...don't really like them.

I like COD. Multiplayer infuriates me to no end of course but I only ever played because of friends. However I always enjoy the single player story, and even managed to beat MW1 on veteran before, that was fun.

I wouldn't cry if the series suddenly dissipated or anything though.

If you're a fan of the CoD you have to watch this. The Online Gamer: House Party. And The Online Gamer: Family Dinner. Actually, just watch the whole series. It will make you laugh.
