I just bought the game over the weekend and of course it wouldn't download. I got on the tech support chat and was given a solution that DID get the game to download and install. However, it didn't install correctly because DA:O still won't recognize it. But at least I got it to download and the files are present in the DA:O folder! Now all I have to do is get it to work!
Here is the transcript:
You are now ready to chat with Mister.

Do you receive an error message?you:
Nope. It just behaves as if it has completed downloading it,
but nothing happens. Then the link changes back to Ready to Download. I bought
DA 2 at the same time and that has been successfully downloaded and installedMister:

Mister:
Please give me just a moment while I look into this further.
Mister:
After it says it has finished downloading what does it say
in the Origin Beta?
you:
The download bar on DAO:A shows 0% and then changes back to
Ready to Download. At the bottom of Origin Beta it says All installs complete
Mister:
Do you have any options to uninstall the game?
you:
Not within the Origin Beta that I can detect. I can check
the program list in Windows...
Mister:
Please do so.
you:
it isn't there either
you:
just DA:O and DA2
Mister:
Can you click on the gear symbol in Origin and select
settings?
you:
yes
Mister:
And can you tell me where the download/install path is?
you:
\\ProgramData\\Origin\\DownloadCache\\
Mister:
Is it to the c drive?
you:
C: etc. etc.
you:
yes
Mister:
Please give me just a moment while I look into this further.
you:
actually it shows two different things here...
you:
it has a path for downloaded games and another for where to
store game installers
you:
the one I gave you was for game installers
Mister:
What ar ethey both?
Mister:
What are they both?
you:
For Downloaded Games it shows C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Origin
Games\\
you:
For "Select where you want to store your game
installers" it shows the path I already shared with you
you:
C:\\ProgramData\\Origin\\DownloadCache\\
you:
Battlefield 3 and DA2 both downloaded fine with those
settings so it is strange that this one is not
Mister:
I understand. One moment.
Mister:
Mister:
1. I would like you to hold down your Windows key on your
keyboard, between the Ctrl and Alt key. (The one that looks like a flag)
Mister:
2. While holding down the Windows key I would like you to
hit the "R" key on your keyboard. (This will bring up a new
"Run" window)
Mister:
3. Inside that "Run" window I would like type in
"msconfig" and hit "OK".
Mister:
4. Now a new "System Configuration" window should
open up.
Mister:
5. Inside that new window I would like you to go to the
"Tools" tab at the top. Go to that.
Mister:
6. Inside that Tools tab I would like you to locate inside
that list a tool named "Disable UAC" (If you cannot locate
"Disable UAC" it will be named "Change UAC Settings")
Mister:
7. Once you have located that tool I would like you to
select it and then click the "Launch" button.
Mister:
8. If you launched the tool named "Disable UAC"
you will see a black box pop up saying that task is completed, you can now
close that and skip to step 12.
Mister:
9. If you launched the tool named "Change UAC
Settings" you will see a new window pop up with a slider on the left had
side that says "Always Notify" on the top and "Never
Notify" on the bottom.
Mister:
10. I would like you to slide that all the way down to
"Never Notify" after that you can hit "Apply" then
"Okay".
Mister:
11. If it asks you to restart you can just close that
because we will be doing one more thing before restarting.
Mister:
12. Now I would like you to go back to your "System
Configuration" window and go to the "Services" tab.
Mister:
13. Inside that Services tab I would like you to make sure
there is a check next to where it says "Hide All Microsoft Services".
Mister:
14. Now that there is a check in that box I would like you
to select the "Disable All" button.
Mister:
15. Go ahead and click on the "Startup" tab for me
and select the "Disable All" button.
Mister:
15. Now hit "Apply" and hit "OK".
Mister:
16. Reboot when prompted.
Mister:
Restore Clean Boot
Mister:
If you ever want to re-enable the extra tasks/programs, you
can follow the instructions below to do so:
Mister:
1. Hold down the Windows Key (The flag between the Ctrl and
Alt keys) and press "R" to bring up the "Run" window.
Mister:
2. Type msconfig, and then press ENTER.
Mister:
3. On the General tab, click Normal Startup - load all
device drivers and services, and then click OK.
