I have seen the other post(s) that go into detail regarding other people with the same issue I am having (or something similar), but I didn't see any support offered as far as answers that would fix the problem.

I  bought a digital copy of DA - Awakening from Origins, and it downloaded... or I thought it did. Like others noticed, when I tried to redownload my content and uninstall Awakening the program was nowhere to be found on my list. So I went around in my dragon age folders and deleted everything there was that said "awakening" in it, and then attempted to re-download the game. I go back to my origins program, and this time when I click "Install" nothing happens. Absolutely nothing. *vein pop* Posted Image

I looked around online and finally I found some directions as far as running Origin itself in a slightly different way.
1. Exit ORIGIN completely.
2. Run a Command prompt as Administrator.
3. Navigate to where ORIGIN is installed.
4. Run the command: Origin.exe /Register
5. Run ORIGIN and see if you still get the error message.
I clicked the "Install" button again, and it is installing. Whether or not it's installing correctly this time I am not certain, but at least I got it to work with me a little. It is currently at 37%.

Would anyone happen to have any remedies they've figured out?

I've never gotten it to install correctly yet. I've never heard of steps 3-5 so maybe that is my problem.

I just added a thread over on the origin help site, hopefully someone will answer my question on there. I know the live help is no help at all.

There just isn't much of anyone around to answer about DLC. I don't buy any, myself. Lots of reasons, including poorly designed implementations of how to acquire and register it. These forums are a bad weather phenomenon, mostly, and begin dying down in April. The message traffic from new people is going up this season, but the experienced people from last spring aren't back, and their replacements aren't active yet. You are stuck with the Stickies and the Archives.

no,. I'm referring the post I added on Origin EA help website. I added a thread about it there and no one has responded yet.

I don't visit any forum anywhere there; if you mean that you used the option to "Send an eMail", I have to warn you that they can take a week to answer those.

Only the Chatline seems to result in some sort of answers in anything close to realtime.

After several tedious live chat sessions with EA's support staff, the only real answer I got was that they do not know why this problem exists, nor do they care. After taking about 10 minutes each time to explain that I was having problem with a product I got digitally off of their store, I was given the standard support staff answers. "Update driver ... re-install Origin" and so on.

Oddly enough, even though this has been mentioned in many forums, at no point did any of the 3 different reps recommend the "Run as Administrator" option. The first one rattled off a bunch of registry files I should just go and delete. Ignoring the fact that if I didn't already know how to access my registry files I would have had no way of figuring his advice out, none of those files existed. The second one kept having me uninstall and re-install the Origin program. (He also wanted to know if I had "The disc version or the physical version") The third one told me to download updated drivers and then reboot my computer. After that advice he promptly ended the chat session.

I have a relative who works at EA and although he has nothing to do with the Origin store, he has more or less said that the DA: O - Awakening issue is incredibly low priority. Technical support is all focused at Battlefield 3, and this has not been a big enough issue to merit a fast response.

My issue with the whole thing is that I bought the expansion pack off the EA store many months ago, and am trying to re-install all my games on my new hard drive. The best guess for why Awakening isn't installing is that even when you do get it to download, it does not download properly and therefore won't install properly.

If anyone wants to mess around with the individual files for Awakening, I have noticed that regardless of where your default install and download folder is for Origin games, Awakening will go to your Dragon Age install folder.

I too am experience this same problem. Very disappointing. I get that there are "newer" games that have a higher priority, but an entire $20 DLC not working at all seems to me like it should get at least some attention.

I'm sure it will be addressed eventually. Personally I think EA could use some more positive feedback in regards to their Origin store. Of course it is a very strange problem that they may be looking in to without saying anything. I know it is always embarrassing for technical support to flat out say "we have no idea why this is happening," especially when they are trying very hard to tout their new online store.

However, seeing as the only information I can find about this problem on their own forums is the thread by Verly that still has no replies, I'm less than optimistic. I think the best course of action is to add our individual complaints to that EA Forum thread, and continue to bring the problem to EA's attention. If enough people complain they will have to at least acknowledge the problem. You would think they'd be eager to fix any issues with their precious new Origin store as fast as possible

I thought I would at least post something there, but as you said, I've received no replies from anyone, let alone EA Origin. grrrrr.

Actually, it's a slightly larger problem than just the Origin Store. I originally purchased Awakening from Steam, before Origin existed. Now a very positive thing that EA did was you can register your CD Keys from Steam onto Origin and they will "give" you credit for owning the game and transfer it to your Origin list. After the issues that I had with getting Awakening to work on Origin, I tried to get it working on Steam with the same results. So it is a larger problem then just Origin's installation.

I just bought the game over the weekend and of course it wouldn't download. I got on the tech support chat and was given a solution that DID get the game to download and install. However, it didn't install correctly because DA:O still won't recognize it. But at least I got it to download and the files are present in the DA:O folder! Now all I have to do is get it to work!

Here is the transcript:

You are now ready to chat with Mister.

Mister:

Thanks for contacting EA Help! My name is Mister how may I
help you?

you:

I recently purchased Dragon Age Origins: Awakening and it
won't download.

you:

I click on the link to start downloading and after a second
it says download complete without downloading anything

Mister:

Do you receive an error message?you:

Nope. It just behaves as if it has completed downloading it,
but nothing happens. Then the link changes back to Ready to Download. I bought
DA 2 at the same time and that has been successfully downloaded and installedMister:

First and for most, I would like to apologize for the inconvenience
and also ensure you that I will do everything in my power to assist you. Please
allow a brief moment while I look into your issue.

Mister:

Mister:

1. Hold down the Windows key and press R

Mister:

need to know the full information for the operating system, processor, memory
and direct x version. Also on the display tab I will need to know the device
name and the driver date.

Mister:

Please give me just a moment while I look into this further.

Mister:

After it says it has finished downloading what does it say
in the Origin Beta?

you:

The download bar on DAO:A shows 0% and then changes back to
Ready to Download. At the bottom of Origin Beta it says All installs complete

Mister:

Do you have any options to uninstall the game?

you:

Not within the Origin Beta that I can detect. I can check
the program list in Windows...

Mister:

Please do so.

you:

it isn't there either

you:

just DA:O and DA2

Mister:

Can you click on the gear symbol in Origin and select
settings?

you:

yes

Mister:

And can you tell me where the download/install path is?

you:

\\ProgramData\\Origin\\DownloadCache\\

Mister:

Is it to the c drive?

you:

C: etc. etc.

you:

yes

Mister:

Please give me just a moment while I look into this further.

you:

actually it shows two different things here...

you:

it has a path for downloaded games and another for where to
store game installers

you:

the one I gave you was for game installers

Mister:

What ar ethey both?

Mister:

What are they both?

you:

For Downloaded Games it shows C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Origin
Games\\

you:

For "Select where you want to store your game
installers" it shows the path I already shared with you

you:

C:\\ProgramData\\Origin\\DownloadCache\\

you:

Battlefield 3 and DA2 both downloaded fine with those
settings so it is strange that this one is not

Mister:

I understand. One moment.

Mister:

Mister:

1. I would like you to hold down your Windows key on your
keyboard, between the Ctrl and Alt key. (The one that looks like a flag)

Mister:

2. While holding down the Windows key I would like you to
hit the "R" key on your keyboard. (This will bring up a new
"Run" window)

Mister:

3. Inside that "Run" window I would like type in
"msconfig" and hit "OK".

Mister:

4. Now a new "System Configuration" window should
open up.

Mister:

5. Inside that new window I would like you to go to the
"Tools" tab at the top. Go to that.

Mister:

6. Inside that Tools tab I would like you to locate inside
that list a tool named "Disable UAC" (If you cannot locate
"Disable UAC" it will be named "Change UAC Settings")

Mister:

7. Once you have located that tool I would like you to
select it and then click the "Launch" button.

Mister:

8. If you launched the tool named "Disable UAC"
you will see a black box pop up saying that task is completed, you can now
close that and skip to step 12.

Mister:

9. If you launched the tool named "Change UAC
Settings" you will see a new window pop up with a slider on the left had
side that says "Always Notify" on the top and "Never
Notify" on the bottom.

Mister:

10. I would like you to slide that all the way down to
"Never Notify" after that you can hit "Apply" then
"Okay".

Mister:

11. If it asks you to restart you can just close that
because we will be doing one more thing before restarting.

Mister:

12. Now I would like you to go back to your "System
Configuration" window and go to the "Services" tab.

Mister:

13. Inside that Services tab I would like you to make sure
there is a check next to where it says "Hide All Microsoft Services".

Mister:

14. Now that there is a check in that box I would like you
to select the "Disable All" button.

Mister:

15. Go ahead and click on the "Startup" tab for me
and select the "Disable All" button.

Mister:

15. Now hit "Apply" and hit "OK".

Mister:

16. Reboot when prompted.

Mister:

Restore Clean Boot

Mister:

If you ever want to re-enable the extra tasks/programs, you
can follow the instructions below to do so:

Mister:

1. Hold down the Windows Key (The flag between the Ctrl and
Alt keys) and press "R" to bring up the "Run" window.

Mister:

2. Type msconfig, and then press ENTER.

Mister:

3. On the General tab, click Normal Startup - load all
device drivers and services, and then click OK.

Mister:

4. When you are prompted, click Restart.

I was given this link in another thread and when I followed it I actually got the game to work.

http://social.biowar...-1806835-1.html

Open up your Dragon Age game folder.

Open addins, then dao_prc_ep_1 under there.

Right-click Edit the manifest.xml file.

Select from the <AddInItem line all the way down to and including the </AddInItem> line (this is almost the entire contents of the file).

Copy it to the clipboard.

Open your My Documents folder.

Open up BioWare, Dragon Age, Settings.

Right-click Edit the AddIns.xml file.

Go right to the bottom of this file, and immediately before the final </AddInList> tag (ie. right after the last </AddInItem> tag, paste the text you copied earlier.

Save and close everything, then run the game. Awakening should appear properly now.
