Well I see a lot of complaining but if you're a developer you should have thick skin for that sort of thing anyway because it is ALWAYS going to happen even if your game is perfect in every way. Which obviously it won't be. People are often both short sighted and selfish but sometimes they can still have a point anyway which gets ignored due to how much of a ****** they're being when trying to get it across.
But I wanted to talk about my thoughts on some DLC and basically give a more "Constructive Criticism" (I hate this term...) post on DLC and some suggestions for how it could work with Dragon Age. Because people are generally more receptive when you're nice to them or so I find.
Some problems with DLC, in the form of suggestions.
Ingame advertising. I understand why it's there. I know that it helps but please put it on the Menu Screen. Characters referencing it ingame is a big shot to the kneecaps of Immersion something everyone should know is one of the most important features of an RPG/Dark Gritty Fantasy Epic/Whatever new words Gamespot has come up for this stuff. For many it's the Most and wanting to feel like you're actually in this world is definately ruined for gamers when people ask you to download new content in the middle of camp. If it's moved to the Menu (increase that font size of "New Downloadable Content Available" message by about 60 or something) or maybe Loading screen? Can you do that? I remember Halo 2 telling me there was map pack to download during some sort of loading screen thing ages ago. But the situation was different as I was online. Regardless it's just a thought.
Items. DLC new items are cool, but they're always too good for my liking. Why is it that whenever adding a new sword it has to be "The Best Sword", or at least Top Tier? I don't like seeing a million sets of Uber Spiky Death Evil Man Plate of A Bajillion Defense #15. Can we get some new content suitable and useful for Mid and Low level characters too please. I remember having this gripe with Oblivion as adding even just one Lair/base/tower/pirate ship to your account made it stupidly easy to power through the game. Props to Shale for not being hugely overpowered but I feel that could be because he wasn't DLC but reintroducing something dropped. Of course someone could think they're awfully clever making some witty smartass comment right here like "Don't complain, just don't use if if you don't like it" and sure I won't use it. But at this point I've already payed for it. And this irks me a little. I don't think DLC should just be a "make the game easier now" button but should add to the game or maybe even add some riduculously hard boss dungeon thing for people who've finished the whole game with ease and want something to challenge them. But I'm not gonna demand that you bow to my whims, some probably like getting a set of rape equipment/abilities and by all means continue giving it to them but I'd like to see some new stuff in DLC that isn't like this as well.
Length. People have complained about Wardens Keep being too short, and also the announcement by SomeDudeFromBioWarePossiblyEvenDudetteHowWouldIKnow? of the Ostagar thing being around an hour long. And rightly so, a lot of people don't like short little extras that feel a little too tacked on in the grand scale of things, it could take a while to make but things generally do and it's how long they take to play that counts. It's understood that there is going to be small DLC and possibly one or two large DLC's as it's better for you guys to work that way. I would suggest this. Reserve addons and new quests for the large DLC I'd much rather see something like a New Origin (perfect small 20 minutes to playthrough DLC, Apostate that gets caught and rescued by Duncan or Human commoner doing err, something are my ideas. Maybe more Character Creation options for my small DLC. (Not enough Minimalist Tattoos only over the top stuff or long Hair that looks manly comes to mind. As does no tattoos for anything other then the face and nothing like Scars or Moles or what have you. Would anyone but me make a character with Freckles if we could? No? Ok then...) Then when big DLC time rolls around we could get something big and awesome like a full new area with quests, people a companion and a new army to recruit for blight stomping and the whole shebang.
Price? Honestly? I think it's fine. But then how much would you plan to make us pay for a big DLC?
And I'm hungry...I'm going out for a meal. This post probably isn't finished yet I'll add more stuff if i think of it. As for this thread perhaps other people could put forward good solutions for DLC arguments. Or maybe it's just me that's gonna.
P.S I use a lot of brackets looking back don't I?
A (Perhaps futile) small attempt at a more Positive thread on DLC

I liked the DLC and the idea about it. Perhaps the price is one of the biggest points of controversy.
In fact I consider "The Stone Prisoner" something like the DLC No. 0, even it's for free. That one had a high quality and added quite some value and fun to the game.
I also got Warden's Keep. While I liked the idea and story, the content left a little to the desire. The cutscenes are great and it is more spooky than most other areas. But then... You know, to have an entire keep for the wardens and the party would be really nice. But you only get the courtyard in the end. To have a mage research about how to remove the taint would be a welcome addition to the storyline, but after you leave the keep there is no trace of him anymore. Couldn't he at least have taught my mage blood magic??? I also couldn't finish the quest about the historical information anymore. (I didn't bother to reload an earlier save game, because I loathe the game breaking my quest in a way that looks like a bug.)
My opinion: DLC is a definite YES, but only IF the quality is similar to Stone Prisoner. I got the feeling that Warden's Keep could have been much better, if Bioware or EA allowed it another one or two weeks to evolve.
I will most likely get more DLC, but also hope for good community modules while lacking a bit of the time needed to make one myself, but you never know...

I understand the frustration with not being able to get back into the Keep after finishing the quest, I felt a little of that at first, but really, what possibly more could you do with the Keep afterwards? Walk around the same rooms and look at how nice and neat Levi's family had cleaned things up?
Seriously, what do people expect from an open keep?

I would be more on board with DLC if they took the time to fix the bugs and balance issues that are already in the game. As it is It just feels like they are nickle and diming me for an unfinished product.
I haven't even looked at the new one, but if it's more like WK, and not stone prisoner, I wouldn't buy it anyways.

Relhart: In one of the threads on the upcoming new DLC, they mentioned that patch 1.02 is in testing, and that 1.03 is in planning. So, it sounds like they are working on bug fixes and/or balance issues currently. I would expect at least 1.02 to be out before Return to Ostagar, if that is the case.
