Okay, so it's established that... err... at some point in the story, an entire year passes. However, I'm still utterly clueless as to when this time skip occurred... can someone please enlighten me?

It can't have taken a whole year to get from Ostagar (right after the prologue) from where you used to live, as it says Altair was recruited just six months before you meet him...

It couldn't have taken that long to get from the Wilds to Lothering because... well, it couldn't have, could it? No one acknowledges that journey taking an overly long time...

Raaaaaaah I am so confuzzed.

When did it happen that Gorim could be already married with a kid on the way? Among a bajillion other crazy things that happen before the end of the story.

Also, on a side note, why the heck does nobody in DA ever have any daughters? The Dwarf Noble PC's kid, Rica's kid with Bhelen, the kid that Morrigan has after the endgame - ALL sons, every single one of them. What the heck is the deal with sons?!?! Why is everyone only able to ever have boys?!?!?! We need to have SOME girls once in a while, you know.

At this rate, the female is going to become an endangered species in Tamriel.

Ferelden is pretty big.
From Redcliffe to the tower of magi = 1 day.
Bann Teagan says it in game.

The journey TO the wilds didn't take a year. But there is a undeclared amount of time between the fight at the tower of ishal and the recovery from injuries at Flemeth's hut.

Check this map of ferelden and see for yourself: http://images.wikia....31/Ferelden.png

It also takes 2 weeks and 4 days to make the journey from Orzammar to the Circle Tower. If you extrapolate that knowledge with the distances shown on the map of Fereldan, a large part of in-game time is probably taken up just walking from one place to the next.

Also... The world of Dragon Age is called Thedas, not Tamriel. ;) Somebody has Skyrim on the brain, I see!

When is it stated that it takes a full year?

Edit: I realize that Wynne says the mage warden has been out of the circle for nearly a year, but other things also seem to contradict that.  Including in DA2 the blight being ended during Hawke's first year in Kirkwell.

Second edit: ONE contradiction was Howe purge of the Alienage when he first became Arl of Denerim (according to the guard of the Alienage).  But after you get into Fort Drakon, you may hear guards joking about how short a time he was Arl.  The 10 days they said of course was an exaggeration.  Also, you may learn that Highever still had the bodies in the Castle, but I guess they could have been rotting for a long time (ick).

i think a Codex entry in DA2 says that the Fifth Blight lasted one year. (at least I recall seeing that mentioned in a couple of other places in the forums).

The Dragon Age timeline is very questionable and inconsistant. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

This.

And if timeline contradictions bug you, you'll be tearing your hair out in DA2... :pinched:

Depends completely on how quickly you get wynne's approval up, if she hates you the blight last 3 days, if your friends, however, the time it takes to get from the wilds to the circle equals one year... Odd.

Before DA2 the main timeline was 1.5 to 2 years for the game. In DA2 that was changed to 1 year from Lothering to the final battle against Archie. However as has been stated the DA timeline is questionable especially considering the whole Anders scenario.

Also, Bann Teagan states the journey to the Circle Tower from Redlciffe is one day 'across Lake Calenhad' which suggests a boat ride during that trip back and forth. ;)
