So, soldier is next to useless, now?

The Omni-blade and grenade are cool, but still not enough reason to go without biotic or tech powers.

Really, there is no need to be a soldier anymore, because everyone gets whatever weapons they want. The whole point of playing soldier was getting whatever weapons you wanted. An Omni-blade and grenades, a good class does not make.
Really, I'd say Sentinnel is actually the OP class now, since they get tech armor, aforementioned weapon choices, AND tech/biotic abilities.

Doesn't that really depend on your preferred play style...I know I couldn't do without my Infiltrator cloak (tried all classes, will stick with Infiltrator exclusively myself)...where as Soldier has AR.Ofcoursenot wrote...

There is a lot of benefit carrying all. As an infiltrator lots of times I'd say "wish I had a shotgun". Or as adept, " wish I had an assult rifle"
Plus adrenaline rush is total win when coupled with a SR. In fact I think solider is the easiest and too powerful in ME2 so hopefully this balances out.
I'll agree with bioware on this one.

Hellcat, under what rock did you crawl from? AR is easily one of the most, if not THE most powerful abilities in the game. Easier headshots, shoot up a YMIR and duck back into cover, sprint from cover to cover, etc etc.
i dont play games for unchallenging easymode crap, which is exactly what adrenaline rush is, A.K.A. worthless.

Out of actual curiosity, do you allow any power usage by squad members or use any other power types when playing other classes?

You have some strange views. The thing that made the soldier worth playing in ME2 was the fact that it had the most powerful skill in the game, Adrenaline Rush. Heightened Adrenaline Rush slowned down enemies by 70%, gave you a 140% damage bonus, and made enemies sitting ducks for head shots. And there's also the fact that melee in ME2 is really only viable with Adrenaline Rush on because being exposed to fire for 5 seconds on the higher difficulties is like a guaranteed game over. It's easily the most overpowered skill in the entire game, period. Being able to use all of the weapons was just gravy, really.
If anything, the Soldier may become even more overpowered in ME3 because players can probaby just break the game's balance by dumping all of their points into upgrading Adrenaline Rush. I know that's what I'll be doing.

1. Adrenaline Rush is not worthless. Much like the Sentinel's Tech Armor, it's "push this button to become a god."hellcat420 wrote...
my only problem with soldier class is the stupid ammo powers and that worthless adrenaline rush. imo they should have put the ammo types back in to replace the ammo powers and put weapon skills back in for soldier class.
2. Ammo powers are actually pretty sweet, and I like them as powers more than I liked them as mods. Still miss some of the ammo types (Sledgehammer and High-Explosive), but you've obviously never rolled with Squad Cryo. Even on insanity, it offers ridiculous amounts of crowd control.
3. As far as I know, Marksman and Carnage are back, only now they apply to whatever weapon you're using instead of just one type. Since headshots do bonus damage now, Assassination would be redundant, and Adrenaline Rush coupled with the thermal clip mechanic makes Overkill irrelevant.
(What's this? A smart, literate person rolls soldier? Ye gods, is it even possible?)

I agree, it was OP, but now that you can take any weapons you want, the soldier has no edge, no reason for use.RusZap wrote...

They "balanced" it by sharing it's advantage with the other classes.

AR is not worthless. Maybe you are too proud to use it, thinking it is cheating?hellcat420 wrote...

Ammo powers are better for soldier. They have no cooldowns and soldier's playstyle demands almost continuous firing, since giving him biotics will essentially eliminate the difference it has from other classes.

i dont mess with squad members other than pick them to go on mission, usually ill let them die at the beginning of combat so they dont get in the way or annoy me or leave them sitting behind cover away from combat. i dont play other classes because i like to kill stuff with guns. ive messed aroudn wiht putting a few different powers on the soldier class but that was just to check some of them out and see what they do(advanced training or whatever). reave was the only power i thought was ok but even that seemed a bit op.
