EDITED ON 11/27/2009 Correct a typo that would cause the Warden's Keep script from not running!

First, before you do anything I suggest, make sure you save your game AND backup your bioware folder (just to be safe)

Second, read this guy's post here:  http://social.biowar.../58/index/81613 thread has a HUGE write up for DLC issues. Try this fixes FIRST

If the above doesn't work, you're SURE you've done a certain quest properly, etc and there is no other hope. I offer ways that will FIX your game or give y ou a work around so you can continue.

First, you need to enable the game's console:

For retail: Make a shortcut fo DAorigins.exe to your desktop, right click it, properties and in the TARGET box add -enabledeveloperconsole (OUTSIDE THE QUOTES!)

For STEAM: Do the SAME thing as above, but ALSO right click the game in steam, properties, general tab, set launch options and enter: -enabledeveloperconsole

Dev console should now be enabled

**************************************************

When in game hit ~ you won't see the console but it's there, but you should see some garbage text at the top of the screen and you won't be able to walk or move. hit backspace a few times to make SURE the console is clear

http://farm3.static....02d4b769c_o.jpg is an example of the shale script being fired off

Debug Shale/Hon Village/Sold Peak:
runscript zz_shl_debug

the screen will warp around you will get prompted to do ALL SORTS of things, including teleported to shale's hometown AND trigger off key plot scripts with shale. I hope this helps!

choose Warp to a location
then Honn.
BAM! you are there... now go get shale! :)

If the village fails to show up on the map after this, you can always use this command to go there. So for those who can NOT get shale, this will FORCE the game to take you to shale's hometown so you can get him... er her :)

If the script doesn't work at all, and you are SURE you did everything right then your DLC for shale is broken and needs fixing (see above link)

Debug Warden's Keep:

runscript zz_gwb_debug - debugs Warden's keep, allows plot flag settings and lets you warp to the repaired keep with marchants and the chest. Also can be used to get the keep to show on the map again

Debug Problems with the Circle:
runscript zz_cir_debug - Starts the Circle of Magi Debug Helper Script which allows modification of plot states and teleporting.

Debug Orzamarr issues (including fixing the Harrowmont/Behlen bug!):
runscript zz_orz_debug - Starts the Paragon of her Kind Debug Helper Script which allows modification of plot states and teleporting.

Denerim Debug, Landsmet Debug, Romance Debug
runscript zz_den_debug - Starts the Denerim Debug Helper Script which allows modification of plot states and teleporting around Denerim and the Landsmeet (USE THIS TO MODIFY ROMANCE OPTION FLAGS! BUT FOR ROMANCE DO IT IT CAMP ONLY!)

Debug Redclif area quests and plot issues:
runscript zz_arl_debug - Starts the Arl Eamon Debug Helper Script which allows modification of plot states and teleporting.

ADD MISSING PARTY MEMBERS:
Use this ONLY if you are bugged and the character should be in your party and you can't get them. (It also can be used to get someone back if y ou ****** them off, and they come back with all their weapons, gear, etc. Just give them a gift before you talk to them again!)

runscript zz_addparty NPCname
NPCname=Shale, Alistair, etc

******************END Main plot scripts*******************

OTHER DEBUGGING SCRIPTS

runscript zz_cli_debug - Jumps you to the climax at redcliffe castle (use at own risk)

runscript zz_pre_debug - Starts the Prelude Debug Helper Script which allows modification of plot states and teleporting.

runscript zz_urn_debug - Starts the Urn of Sacred Ashes which allows modification of plot states and teleporting.

runscript zz_pre_demo2 - Teleports player and party to Ostagar, may have other use

runscript zz_pre_strategy - Teleports player and party to Duncan's fire in Ostagar, may have other use

******************END MINOR PLOT DEBUGGING*******************

Also if u have pissed off a party member and there's just not enough gifts to make them happy again:

runscrip zz_addapproval y xxx

example:

runscript zz_addapproval 5 50 (add 50 app points to shale)
runscript zz_addapproval 5 -50 (removes 50 app pts from shale)

BE CAREFUL with this!!! If you set something too high, too fast, you can BREAK that character and certain things won't happen with them. I HIGHLY recommend doing it in blocks of 5-10

also ~ then up arrow then enter will repeat the last console command.

1 - Alistair
2 - Dog
3 - Morrigan
4 - Wynne
5 - Shale
6 - Sten
7 - Zevran
8 - Oghren
9 - Leliana
10 - Loghain

*****************

Party Gifting Issues:

Lastly if you were unable to find the key plot "gifts" you may spawn them OR they won't accept a gift they should, you can delete the special gift and run:

runscript zz_party_addgifts (adds ALL plot triggering gifts to inventory)

keep in mind this will give you ALL special gifts, but that's ok too, the game wont screw up if you double gift someone a special gift.

**************

ALL of the scripts I have listed are safe. I DO NOT recommend "finding" other ones to hack your character stats, etc as this WILL email BW/EA and mark you as a cheater, and then your online profile will never be updated.

I have provided these commands so gamers can work around BW/EA's apparent lack of responses to the gaming community on fixing the game and the DLC content.

If you don't know what you are doing or how to do any of this.. DO NOT DO IT.. and don't come whining that you messed up your game. SAVE SAVE SAVE it before attempted ANYTHING like this and BACKUP your bioware folder

**************************
SCRIPTS NOT TO USE!

scripts that will flag you as a cheater to bioware.. and YES the game WILL email them:

runscript cheat - Inspired: Major Cunning (any of the plot Inspired stuff)

runscript cheater (adds ALL game achievements)

runscript zz_supercrit player

those 3 will flag your saved files across ALL saves as a cheater in BWs/EAs eyes

using those could prevent your online bioware profile from being updated because your labeled a cheater. I do not list these so people can cheat, but the console commands can EASILY be googled by typing Dragon Age Console Commands, and I don't want people going out, playing with scripts and either screwing up their game or online profile. So I list these as ones to AVOID. Even if you aren't logged in the game will STILL email BW because the game has your login info if you have DLC installed :)

Manually Download ALL DLC:

If any of the below download as .zip, rename to .dazip (make sure file extentions are on in windows), run daupdater and drop as many as you like (or all) into daupdater once it's running and install. Any registered game WILL accept and use all of the once below EXCEPT: The Stone Prisoner, Wardens Keep, and the blood armor. The rest of the special retailer DLC will work (I know I installed them and got all the items)

A manual install can often fix a broken DLC vs letting the game DL and install it. This way you will also have the original DLC to re install should it corrupt and you won't have to re DL IT.

DAO_PRC_CP_2 - The Stone Prisoner
DAO_PRC_NRX_1 - Warden's Keep
DAO_PRC_PROMO_1 - Memory Band
DAO_PRC_PROMO_2 - Feral Wolf Charm
DAO_PRC_PROMO_3 - Guildmaster's Belt
DAO_PRC_PROMO_4 - Band of Fire
DAO_PRC_PROMO_5 - Dalish Promise Ring
DAO_PRC_PROMO_C2 - CE Bergen's Honor, Grimoire of the Frozen Wastes, Final Reason
DAO_PRC_PROMO_EDG - The Edge
DAO_PRC_PROMO_EMB - Embri's Many Pockets
DAO_PRC_PROMO_HOD - Helm of the Deep
DAO_PRC_PROMO_LKS - The Lucky Stone
DAO_PRC_PROMO_LNP - The Lion's Paw
DAO_PRC_PROMO_ME_ - Blood Dragon Armor
DAO_PRC_PROMO_VGL - Mark of Vigilance
DAO_PRC_PROMO_WAR - Amulet of the War Mage
DAO_PRC_PROMO_WKD - The Wicked Oath

NOTE: SOME OF THE ABOVE DLCs ONLY WORK WITH THE DELUX/COLLECTORS EDITION OF THE GAME!

I would advise not mucking with a lot of the other shale debugging options as you can break shale.

For those having problems with other game events not triggering, I know many debug commands that will FORCE plot triggers and other things to happen if they are not working for you

I'm also working on a save game editor so users can safely edit their save game files and characters, maps, etc and remove any corruption in them. I'm also working a a repair tool to scan corrupted save files and export the good data along with things that should be on the map, but this will take a little time... but if BW isn't doing this. someone should

Do you have a link to a list of these "many debug commands"?

How are you planning on determining when a save is "corrupt" (never mind working out how to fix it)?

I'm getting tired of waiting for EA/BW to fix the DLC bugs and would be interested in using (even, contributing to) a save game editor. Is it entirely reverse engineered or do you have some other information source?

Most all of those can force plot flag etc... but you have to BE CAREFUL if you are stuck... and I don't mean stuck by you've forgetten a quest, or failed to talk to someone. I mean that you are BUGGED and the game won't continue... and your last save is so far back it's not even funny (which shouldn't be the case)

If you manage to ****** off a party member and they leave, or they get BUGGED and POOF, you can easily get them back as well:

runscript zz_addparty NPCname

NPCname=Shale, Alistair, etc

wow! thanks for this, a full list of commands might be useful, and the save editor sounds perfect - but before you do that i'm going to be selfish, do you know the command for debugging warden's keep? i specifically want to flag it as completely unstarted so levi shows up again, i had previously talked to him and got the map location but a crash reset the quest to the 'A merchant is following you, make camp' stage, but he never shows up in camp and i have no map marker.

Thanks!

EDIT: oh, sorry, i hadn't refreshed the forum in a while so i was replying to an earlier post, i see you have already given some more commands. still, if you know how to fix the problem i mentioned using these commands that would be great! thanks for the help.

yes,

runscript zz_gwb_debug to debug warden's keep issues and to warp there

you can also use this to trigger various plot flags and other things if your keep is bugged...

but if you've already done the keep and just lost it.. just port to the REPAIRED version (that's the version with the npc's , party chest, etc) :)

usually for DLC files the command is:

runscript zz_xxx_debug

where xxx is the 3 letter code of the DLC to debug.

I figured this out from here:

C:\\Users\\David\\Documents\\BioWare\\Dragon Age\\AddIns

Look in each DLC add in folder, you will see a file ending in .dds so for warden's keep it is:

gwb_module.dds

I assumed (and correctly) that the 3 letter code in the file is what the debug script in game would call, and I was correct. This works for shale and the keep :) Enjoy

Remember if you have NEVER been there, choose ENTERING SOLDIER'S PEAK.

If you completed the whole thing and just lost it, warp to the "repaired" version

what's very sad is it takes people in the game community to work around these issues while EA and BW techs sit there doing nothing. What they really need to do is BYPASS them and get the DEVS' arses on the forums.

It will be up to the USER to tell the program that shale, the keep, and or Honn village is corrupt. The repair program will then go in and force add the village to the map if need be, replace various data, plot flags, etc on shale if needed be, as well as soldiers peek.

Since I have had corrupt files and was able to indentify where it started, I can identify just what the corruption is and how to fix it. I had a corrupt save and a "good" save not 10 mins apart. So it was EASY to find the corruption.

in some cases a person's shale may just need to be "replaced" and I will allow the person to "chose" their new shale (level, stats, equipment), etc to be plugged back into the save file if their shale can not be fixed.

I've already done all this, manually to my save game files. I just have to turn what I did manually into a tool.

Basically here is the problem with the game... if it deactivates DLC while playing certain flags, etc get removed (or added)... and the game FAILES to restore them once it re connects to the server. It then passes this on to the save data. Once a person saves then exits, these flags are FOREVER changed. And MUST be changed via a save editor, or in same cases by an in game script.

How does it pass this corruption onto earlier saves then? I can't understand by what method this could happen, is some of the data that hasn't changed 'shared' across several saves to reduce filesize maybe?

Anyway, thanks once again.

It can't. If even NEW games are broken, then there is something wrong with your DLCs.  In this case the game is corrupt and passing that corruption to brand new games. In this case a FULL uninstall and re-install *may* help. If it doesn't, uninstall and SYSTEM RESTORE back to a date BEFORE the game was installed, this will delete any borked registry entries for the game. Then re-install and things "should" be better. Also the game puts things called SIDs in the registry that can break also (which is LAME).  Hence why I suggest a system restore in a case like you described.

I've only addressed fixing the saved games, and/or working around the problems with in game scripting. Once of the next things I am going to do is take apart their DLCs and see just what they are doing and what's going on. I'm sure BW will fix them.... eventually... but it doesn't help any of us NOW.

IMO, NO DLC should have been released.. actually the entire game should have been held back for 1-2 months for further beta testing. AWESOME GAME.... just went through POOOR Q/A

Edit: Another option in addition to a save game editor/fixer would be a sort of "trainer" but instead of making a trainer to "cheat" the game, the trainer corrects flags and other problems in memory - which are then passed on to the saved games, and then the trainer could be used to EASILY fix things if you get DCed from the server w/o even having to exit your game. If BW doesn't fix this issues, I will explore both possibilities.

I can't seem to get the "shl" debug menu to open.

I haven't been able to access Sulcher's Pass yet - it doesn't appear on the map, but I do have Stone Prisoner installed.

If you can't get the debug menu going for shale then you've done something wrong

1a) not added the -enabledeveloperconsole properly, and in the right box on your shortcut
1b) if you have steam it MUST be added in steam by right clicking the game, properties, general, launch options and put in there

2) once you hit ~ in game and start typing a bunch of garbage letters should appear at the top of your screen

3) also once you hit ~, if the console is working try moving ;) if you can't move.. you are in the console, after that hold down backspace to clear the movement keys out

4) make SURE you are typing stuff into the consolr correctly, since you can't see anything, and I've done it many times... it's VERY easy to have a typo and not know it! :)

The other debug commands are working correctly (Warden's Keep included), and I'm sure that I'm typing it in correctly. When I put "runscript zz_shl_debug" in the console (minus the ""s, of course) I get nothing, while when I use the other commands I get the dialog choices and whatnot.

Any insight?

I did this to fix my Shale. Here is how she was broken: Had already did the quest, but right clicking on shale took my back to the inital dialogue with the control rod. I ran the command: runscript zz_shl_debug. Then I choose the option to set the plot, and then number 1 (have control rod password). Then I teleported to Honn, and spoke to shale while she was on her original spot. Activated her, and now she seems to be fixed!! Thanks TallBear, great work

That means the DLC is either not installed, not installed properly or broken. Id advise deleting it from the Add ins folder

C:\\\\Users\\\\David\\\\Documents\\\\BioWare\\\\Dragon Age\\\\AddIns\\\\dao_prc_cp_2

nuke the ENTIRE dao_prc_cp_2 folder, and re DL it.. do it manually if you have to.. there's links and instructions how to manually install a DLC. I forget where.. it's a HUUUUGE post with manual links to all sorts of DLC we ALL were supposed to get but never did, and you can DL and install them all

http://social.biowar.../58/index/81613 for DLC issues and towards the bottom of the post a list of ALL the DLCs we are entitled to

Ok, so question. I already finished the Keep and can go there (everyone is there, the chest is there with all my stuff in it, etc), but Levi is back in my camp with a plot flag over his head. Is this a big deal?
