I was just sent a video from a group of Dragon Age fans who attending this past summer's Dragon Con in Atlanta Georgia. Not only did they attend, they attended in excellent Dragon Age cosplay.

Check out the video on YouTube

And make sure you stay till the end for the spicy shimmy. :D

That was pretty crazy, in a good way :P Some great outfits, but not only from Dragon Age, some others in the begining were pretty cool too.

Nice vid!

That Varric was awesome, despite being the tallest dwarf ever.

Those were awesome. I also liked the Mord'Sith costume. I miss Tabrett Bethell on my TV. :(
I hate to say, though, that, while entertaining, that wasn't a spicy shimmy! Go have Neel show you how it's really done. :P

Haha, looks like great fun. Some really great costumes there, including some quite daring costumes for Morrigan/Isabella's. Must be great for the guys at Bioware to see people doing this kind of thing.

Ah, the reason for the whole "iconic" look for the DA2 cast.

It's amazing that not only to they have the motivation and means to make the costumes, but they look so close (or close enough) to the real thing.

I liked "Anders" there and his pet Ser Pounce A Lot.  There were also plenty of Isabela fans it seems.

On behalf of the DA team, I just wanted to pass on my thanks to Brooke Fox and Alex White - along with all the cosplayers involved - for putting this together.

I'm always amazed at the level of talent and creativity that the community has when it comes to cosplay from our games - and this was another great example, the costumes were fantastic.

As we couldn't be there in person this year, I also can't help but call out and congratulate the effort in organizing the get-together at Dragon*Con and even creating the DA2 banner for the parade - that was an awesome touch (and I won't even get into the Isabela-Anders jig at the end of the video). :)

As game developers there are few things that make us more proud and excited about our work than to see others truly enjoying it - so much so, that they would choose to invest their own personal time and in their own way honor what we've done as part of their own creative labors of love.

So whether you are doing DA cosplay, or fanart, or fanfic, or modding, or...you get the idea - the team and I salute you, and really thank you for your support.

F.

The dancing at the end really capped the video for me. One of the reasons I've continued to be a Moderator here is that I get to deal with our fans on a daily basis. It's great to see the same kind of passion, dedication and love in our fans (both cosplaying and not) that we try to show as developers.

The roar of collective enthusiasm is deafening.Image IPB

...or is it just silence? Image IPB  A mere dozen posts in six days, out of which three are desperate bumps by Bioware people, and three are rather terse and somewhat hard to decypher posts by arthur cousland.

Look, I like those people. Nerds make me go all warm and fuzzy in the stomach.

But they don't need you to make it impossible to equip your partymembers. I'm sure they're quite capable of doing their thing regardless.
And I think that this thread is clear evidence, both of how representative they are of your customers and of how 'great' the value of the free advertizing for your game is.

If this truly (?) is the reason for fixing the apparel on our companions, then I'm sorry but this goes down in the book "How to Make Poor Decisions and try to live by them"

Also, if you really believed in that advertizing religion in the first place - why didn't you force the iconic Hawke on us? (Image IPBvomits). Didn't your advertizers insist on how recognizable and iconic he would be? - How is it that you could suddenly see how that might not be a good idea? And still try this other *?

So, like, I was defending BioWare as if they see cosplay as an illustrative example of an intangible benefit rather than as a benefit in and of itself, but what I actually meant was that, while they see cosplay as a nice side benefit, it's that intangible benefit for which cosplay is an illustrative example which is the only one that actually factored into the decision to use iconic outfits.

Mental gymnastics check: success.

If you look at the sales figures of TES V: Skyrim, I think a proper Dragon Age 2 which would have built on the strengths of DA:O and not gone all manga and cosplay (slight exaggeration) would have had the chance to sell a lot more than its predecessor. What does this post have to do with Cosplay? Everything. Please, don't think Cosplay for Dragon Age 3.

"No, ... don't you ... don't you DARE stop"

Nive vid and some really good cosplays aswell. The Anders is just plain brilliant (especially love Ser Pounce-a-lot *meow*) and only short of using real leather hides and such to being a perfect match. Absolutely stunning.

Sure, cosplay=free advertisement, but I can't help but wish I was there.

I've been to a few renaissance faires, twice in-costume, and I'm sure this would have been fun too.

Yes, I probably have posted to this thread too many times.

At DragonCon, cosplay is more sightseeing than anything else. No matter how much of an ubernerd you are, there will be awesome costumes that you don't recognize. If you don't already recognize the game, the most reaction people have to seeing DA cosplay is 'woah, cool, can I take your picture' and then they walk away. Nice try attempting to troll the mods. /golfclap

And yeah, Arthur Cousland, it was hella fun. You should come next year! ^_^

Also, Bioware folks - thanks so much for the support and interest you've shown. You should ALSO come to Dragon next year. :D

If events like that actually came through the midwest, I'd definitely consider. Usually, all the fun stuff takes place in California. I also had no idea that this event happened until clicking on the thread.

There is a facebook group Dragonage at Dragoncon if anyone is interested. I couldn't make it this year d/t 2 house payments and recent move till we sell old house. Next year planning to be there! Working on a Cassandra Inquisition costume which is nearly done, plus have my DA II Aveline costume which is better in the heat.
