Dragon Age 2 vs. Skyrim: Thoughts?

However, before anyone else can ask, I want to know:
Skyrim or Dragon Age 2?
The question was inevitable. And now, as faithful gamers, we must place judgement on these installments in two of the most renowned RPG franchises in existence.
To make this evaluation easier, I've included the following categories which I believe are worth addressing:
1: The gameplay. Includes combat, crafting, character creation, travel, looting and leveling.
2: The world. Includes overall setting, dungeons, factions (eg. The Companions/ Grey Wardens) and points of conflict (eg. The Qunari in DA/The Rebellion in Skyrim)
3: The Story. Includes the characters, the character relationships (including romance), the overall storyline, the telling of the story and the dialogue.
4. The graphics. Includes the world graphics (arhitecture/static objects/environments), the character animations, expressions and appearances.
5. The sound. Includes the voice acting, the music and the sound effects.
6. The final verdict. You're the fans. Nuts to what IGN says, I'm interested in YOUR opinions. Which game wins this showdown?

The games we normally call open worlds – the locked off cities and level-restricted grinding grounds – don’t compare to this. While everyone else is faffing around with how to control and restrict the player, Bethesda just put a ****ing country in a box. It’s the best open world game I’ve ever played, the most liberating RPG I’ve ever played, and one of my favourite places in this or any other world.

Well, before it does get locked... what game/developer you think PC Gamer was reffering to in their skyrim review, when they say:The games we normally call open worlds – the locked off cities and level-restricted grinding grounds – don’t compare to this. Well not DA2 because no-one has ever called it an open world rpg.

(But wont otherwise comment because Skyrim is going to have to wait a week or two.)

Pacman is so much better then the DA2 and Skyrim put together.

The dancing fire gypsy is correct. Pacman has such a dark and gritty plot. The characters and story are incredible.

The games are so different that making a comparison is laughable. Also, we don't do versus threads here.
I think there's room for a valid comparison here. Both are RPGs with Dragons. But it's how the developers choose to approach this concept that seperates the games. I have to admit that I was a little surprised by all the Skyrim support on a DA2 forum.
The thing that really struck me as being different (aside from obvious combat differences) is the way in which the story is told. Bioware tells the story of DA:O and DA2 with cutscence and personality dialogue option whereas Skyrim's story is shown mainly from a 1st person perspective where you watch the action but have little say in dialogue situations.
It's like the difference between Halo and COD. Halo cuts away to 3rd person in its cutscenes to deliver some powerhouse plot points where as COD is purely 1st person with minimal cutscenes (and if there is a moment that feels like a cutscene, you can still look around freely and maybe even move around too).

I don't think any Bioware game has been called an open world RPG. You can't really say they use locked cities or level grinding either.

You shouldn't be surprised. The only games that routinely receive hate on the Bioware forums are Bioware games.

Of course I'm right
See, I always took Pacman as the story of a man literally haunted by his past deeds. He no longer find any real enjoyment in his life, barely eating...Barely living. His ghosts drive him, hound him, causing him to pop pills in an attempt to escape the here and now. But eventually his past will catch up to him and he'll die. Perhaps he's better off that way.

That has to be the most epic explanation of a video game ever. I mean... You win, sir. You win everything....

Yes those are factual differences but you are asking which one is better, well comparisons in qualitative terms are difficult because they are so different despite both being rpgs.
