Alright, the results are in. It's impossible to kill him with three shots without Lacerate triggering.

I uploaded two of my best runs (sorry for the sh!tty quality, but that's the best I could do with my phone-cam)

Take 1 (mark of death, vendetta, assassinate, auto-attack)

Take 2 (mark of death, vendetta, assassinate, twin fangs)

It could be further improved for a speed run, but yeah, maybe some other time.

haha very nice!

that's possibly the fastest time possible (that double assassinate is pretty crazy).
and yeah, the assassin spec is loads better than shadow (mark of death+extra crit damage+best spike damage talent); but it kinda lacks the flair of the arishok never getting a chance to move. Also, dodging/moving to the arishok after the charge takes up some valuable time.

I wonder if it would be enough for a duelist/assassin with one point into stealth to instantly drop into stealth (just to stop him charging), vendetta him, double assassinate (lacerate) and twin fang him. As in, the mark of death isn't actually necessary if everything already hits the cap; and an instant vendetta (if he doesn't start charging) or stealth-to-vendetta will be faster than waiting for him to finish charging...

Oh and in terms of speed runs, the obvious best would be an instant double vendetta followed by a double assassinate followed by a twin fangs (doubtful it would need to be doubled).
Just might need to record 100+ times... haha

haha anyway, i can't believe you're still face-wiping arishoks when you could be playing skyrim!

Thnx.

Well, I noticed three random factors that basically require pure luck for a perfect speedrun.
One, Arishok decides to charge ASAP (vid 1), or waits for about a second or two (vid 2).
Two, Lacerte proc.
Three, what Arishok decides to do after you assassinate him. In vid 1 he went for the health potion, in vid 2 he started his whirlwind of doom, but got pwned before he could hit me (hehe). He can also decide to impale you, wich happens instantly and ur pretty much screwed after that. Also note that Vendetta triggers a force effect CC, wich assassinate then cancels afterwards (no force multiplier for assassinate). That results in Arishok recovering slightly faster then Hawke's assassinate animation. That's also the reason you are screwed, if he opts for his insta impale move.

And I like your idea with stealth, wich should in theory eliminate the random factor #1. Although I'm not sure you could reach the cap without Mark of Death. Dunno, maybe I'll try it out....sometime when I'm not too occupied with Skyrim.

That said, I'm outta here.

So, I choose fem Hawke on this playthrough and she's a rogue. She decides to listen to Fenris and take it to Arishok personally.

The problem here is, it seems pretty challenging for a rogue to fight Arishok 1 on 1. His general DPS is pretty high, even for a Duelist Rogue. His charge immobilizing Hawke is also a big problem.

For this character, the Duelist & Dual Weapon talent tree are mostly finished. Are there any strategy I can use to win this fight?

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

Personally the only way to run a Rogue I would say there is go with Assassin and Shadow specs.

I had no issue with beating Arishok silly between using Inconspicuous to wipe away my threat, shifting his attention to my dog, and using Assassinate for huge damage spikes. Depending on your choice of weapon, Archers could use Pinning Shot and normals to knock out some extra damage. DW fighters can just spam the hell out of their high damage spiking talents like Backstab, Explosive Chain, and Twin Fang to decimate him.

Don't duel him - the group fight is much easier.

Easier, maybe, but you miss out the Qunari Swords quest which turns out heaps of exp. The benefits are very much worth the extra work.

In my party I have - Fenris, Aveline, Anders and myself - Templar so it should be fine - Ill try it later properly I was not in the good frame of mind when I tried that option last night. If not Ill re-think my build - maybe sword & board. I prefer two/weapon fighter but that does not fit with my templar image thing LOL

There's your problem.  You're a templar warrior? So you took 3 Warriors and a healer?  Take Isebela/Varric or Marill.  On Casual you won't need need Aveline, you should be able to soak up the damage yourself.  The group battle on casual is very very easy regardless of your class, you just need the right group composition.
