Ok to start off the reason why posting this here in the
spoiler forum, is because the possibility that something I find and or post may
be connected to a spoiler in dragon age.

Anyway after playing and beating dragon age i started to play Mass effect again
to get ready for mass effect 2, when i heard a very familiar saying that we
have heard mostly throughout dragon age, "thank the maker." Which got
me thinking is dragon age and mass effect connected in some way. Although this
may be a small or chance connection as religions on earth has drastically change
after the discovery of Prothean tech. it already got me thinking down a set
path I that I will explore to try and find a connection. In which leaves
several questions to be ask,

For starters how does dragon age connect to mass effect
aside from being in the same universe, will we see elf appearing out of nowhere
or dwarfs coming out of stone or something?

 Are the god and religious
figures in dragon age really just Protheans, which could make some since, as
few did of survive the reapers invasions hence the ending of mass effect.

And last but not least Bionic and magic, why aren’t we
casting ice spells with our Bionics? Ok that answer may be more obvious but I know
someone going to ask it anyway.

Anyway I as I continue to play through the game I will
regularly update this post.

If you look at the moon in the camp you might remember it from somewhere else. There's also a comedy note you can find in the deep road which mentions a guy called Shepard and Mass which has effect. (Something simliar to that)

I think you're really grasping at straws here. 'Thank the Maker' was a phrase used in Star Wars too. Are you saying that's in the same universe as well?

Thedas' moon is exactly the same as the moon of a visitable planet in Mass Effect.

That's the only hint, anything else is tin-foil hattery.

I certainly hope that they won't have anything to do with each other, if I want scifi I'll play scifi, which is not something I am after right now.

This is the note I found in the Deep roads

"Mass will have an effect he says"

As long as it lifts us out, I figure.

Should have specefied "in my lifetime"

"Gives us time to talk" he says

"Hows a dwarf got a name like Shepard?"

Up yer shaft

"No really because, blah blah blah blah"

Axe answers but I still hear him.

Drip....Ground

Drip....Ground

Worse than his talking

Think I'll drop out for some air

Ah yes the tough question that everyone is afraid to answer. Just like the epic "Freedom Force and Bioshock in the same universe?" debate.

The term Maker is pretty generic really, I'm not surprise to see the writers using the same name as more of like a cameo appearance, but DA and ME in the same universe is just bad...

Won't you be disappointed when the Black City turns out to be the spaceship SS Caligula that was carrying a supply of cuddly plushies to the children of Gamma Backwater VII when it was trapped in the Fade and the plushies mutated into darkspawn.

I think it is more of a joke then something they would plan on doing, Well Known developers often times will put hints and Cameos from their other games in recent games.  (Or cameos from their Competitors)

There is the matter of the unlockable blood dragon armor in ME2.

Anyway, I doubt that there's any story/in-universe connection between the two.

Epically bad its like having Lord of the Rings and Star Trek in the same universe..... Actually it might be worst than that.

Indeed, I've heard it used to describe deities in the real world.

I dunno...I think that that would be kinda nice/amusing.

This kinda reminds me of people asking a similar question about Warhammer Fantasy and 40,000.

I won't mind getting access to the 'other' Blood Dragon armor (along w/ Spectre level guns)...oh, and a Mako, too. :D

Isn't Mass Effect in our universe, story-wise?

Well the jig is up. Thedas is actually an alien world colonized and subsequently forgotten by humans in the distant future. Elves and Dwarves are the product of genetic manipulation, magic is the result of technology advanced beyond our ability to recognize it, and The Maker is a Geth super-computer.

Guys I think it's pretty obvious that these things are just easter eggs and meant for a bit of fun. They'll probably hint at it but they'll never make it as a storyline element. We could also say that superman and DA share the same universe (=

That's more of an easter egg as there's no real connection between the two despite the design similarity.

Probably, so is a lot of sci-fi though....

As an aside, I suppose rumors of these are given more "credit" as Stardock's new fantasy game is supposedly set in the same universe as Galactic Civilizations.
But then that's really a special case since Brad Wardell is physically incapable of letting go over his insipid self-insertion fantasies where he's the ubergod of the universe.

I always assumed they used "maker" just because it isn't politically correct to say "god", no?

Or it's just boring. Granted, Maker isn't much better.
Monotheistic deities really need better public relations.

I always thought, about Joe Abercrombie's, True lore series. The history goes that a very powerful bloke called The Maker founded civilisation, created the largest and most intimdating tower which has stood for thousands of years, parted mountains and created some really nasty weaponary. The people now living think of him as a god and they called him the Maker because of the stuff he created.
