I struggled with the interface throughout the Eden Prime section, so that kind of threw me out at first. Then we got to the Citadel, I started getting the hang of things...and Paragon that i am, I talked both Udina and the turian Councillor down. And they made me a Spectre. It was like becoming a Lensman and a 00 all at once. Awesome.
I chose to go after Liara first, and my first landing in the Mako was...not in the right place. I got a Thresher Maw my first time out. I think I jumped a foot when I heard that sound for the first time. About an hour of play later, I finally found Therum. Not long after that, I knew who my LI was going to be.
Feros was epic and Noveria was an emotional roller coaster (I'M SORRY LIARA!), but then came Virmire. "You are not Saren." Saren justifying himself. An earth-shattering kaboom. Whoa.
And yes, finally, Vigil. Everything made sense. It all tied together. I think I babbled to my wife for ten minutes about how brilliant it all was. That's when I knew with a certainty that it wouldn't be my last playthrough, and that we were witnessing a change in how video games are made.
I was disappointed in bits of ME 2, but the reason I sucked up the thermal clips, being forced to work with Cerberus and the ripping out of the RPG elements was because the magic was still there, IMO. Meeting Tali. Rescuing Garrus. Seeing how Ash had grown. Reuniting with Liara and carefully getting past her defenses. Tuchanka, Wrex and the most epic handshake evah. Oh, and the new characters! Mordin, Jack, Gru Legion, Thane...as much as I love Liara, I had to make "clean" ME1 playthroughs with no romance so I could experience the options in the sequel. (What's that? Something about cheating on my LI? I can't hear you la la la la.) :innocent:
So I guess it's been a whole evolution into obsession, but if I had to pinpoint the moments that turned me into a Massoholic, it'd be the Spectre ceremony, the Therum escape, meeting Sovereign and talking with Vigil. Shocking in how different that list is, I know, but I gotta be me.

Opening sequence, the elevator to bridge walk, and Tada reveal protagonist's face, I was like Whoa!
Then find out it's a damn fetch quest for a boring beacon, I was like Nooooooo, let Nihlus do it himself!
Then the video of all hell breaking loose on Eden Prime, I was like, Oh-oh, I think we're in deep poopy-doo!
Then landing on Eden Prime with a squad of, count them, two guys, I was like sneaking behind every rock and tree and nearly peed my pants when I accidently shot a gas bag.
Then Jenkins get's shot, and I'm, Oh, crap, it's just me and that useless Alenko guy who's half dead after just three little flying robot things and I so suck at shooters, why did I ever buy this game? I sneaked so hard after that, I think Ashley shot the first two 'real' geth all by herself, while I covered behind something three clicks away.
It just got better after that, even though I peed my pants a little again when the main badass alien guy, Nihlus got shot too. I was praying not to meet Saren as the level boss of the Eden Prime level.
Sorry, I think I channeled Thane there a bit.
Lol Colorful commentary

The first E3 video confirmed it, and I followed its progress. Almost made me buy a 360 too, but then I figured it would get a PC version, just like KoTOR & Jade Empire.
All I needed was patience, and it paid off quite nicely for me.

-Seeing the(at the time) amazing alien facial animations
-The very first time I used Biotics.
-Using the Pause-And-Play mechanics in a Third-Person Shooter.
-The Difficult Decision at Virmire.
-Ilos, from beginning to end.
-Kicking the Window to walk along the side of the citadel, with an enormous reaper in sight as I made my way futher in.

The Mass Effect universe is rich universe with alot of things being plausible, others not so much. Shepard coming back to life, really Bioware? The experience has gone down hill since then because of the fan base

Every series, be it Movie, TV or games has a distinct moment where you go "Oh Yeah. This it IT!"
So what was your moment?
For me it was right after I finished my first playthrough of Mass Effect and I started a new game with the same character and the intro started, you know, with the camera following Shepard through Normandy, I was so excited to play the game again! I was hooked from that point on. I couldn't wait to get to Noveria again and kill me some rachni.

I was checking out the solar systems in the cluster before hitting x and realizing there was an S-load of other clusters, full of other systems, full of other planets. Blew my mind.
