 Hello everyone!

I've been running Mass Effect 1 and 2 on my computer for quite some time now, but I've had a rather serious issue of late.

In contrast with almost everyone else here, I'm not a PC-owner. I have an Apple MacBook Pro w/ the Intel i7 processor, a NVIDIA GeForce GT 330 M graphics card, and 4 GB of RAM. I'm running Windows 7 SP1 on Parallels 7, so my system performance takes a rather significant hit when I want to run Windows apps. However, it's never stopped me from running Mass Effect in the past.

Essentially, here's what's happened:

Shortly after Mac OSX Lion debuted, I downloaded and installed it. Shortly after, I realized that my version of Parallels (v. 5) wasn't compatible with Lion. After putting off the update for as long as possible, I finally caved in and bought Parallels 7 a few days ago. I transfered all of my virtual machines, then booted Windows. I tried to run Mass Effect 1, but I got the dreaded "Failed to compile global shader FDOF and bloom gather fall back pixel shader" error. Everything I've read online says it's an issue with my video card, but that doesn't explain why it worked before. I updated to version 1.02 and ran the MassEffectConfig executable, deleting the local shader cache as per someone's suggestion. However, it too was of no avail.

Does anyone have any idea what's happened? Could it be that Parallels has doomed me to never play Mass Effect again?

VM's arent supported. Your best bet is to use bootcamp for a dedicated Windows partition to play your games in. I cant recall anyone on these boards who has managed to get it running on a Mac via a VM.
