Ah, yes. A choice between aiding the Quarians or the Geth... the Squad Mate you didn't chose probably becomes the final boss for that mission. Fighting a former Squad Mate would actually be quite a significant battle, and I suspect Bioware know that as well.
Fighting Legion or Tali? It would be a Paragon/Renegade choice. Aiding the Geth to end their war with the Quarians, would be Renegade, but reap better benefits (The assistance of the full Geth war machine, industrial power and sheer technological might) but helping the Quarians retake their homeworld from the Geth would be Paragon (But the Quarians would be a weaker and far less powerful ally than the Geth). Who would you chose?
I assume players wouldn't have the heart to fight the Quarians and would side with Tali against the Geth, eventually fighting Legion.

Actually the way i see it the Quarians are in the wrong in this entire situation. Geth only retaliated and drove their creators out when they realized they were trying to commit genocide against their people. It's like punching a dog and getting mad when it bites you.

I think that you will be able to convince the quarians to try and find a new world, or maybe coexist with the geth.

Legion doesn't want war, in fact it seems like it "hurt" him that their creators reacted in such a way.
In fact the only people talking about extermination and enslavement are the quarians, making them the renegade choice.

This video is excellent, in it he explains everything from the geth plans for the future to my reasoning behind blowing the collector base!
I suppose it contains spoilers, but this conversation usually cant be heard and i hadnt heard it until now.

Ah yes. Of course, the Geth would prefer peace, but self survival comes first and that shall be the dominent issue with the Geth in ME3. They will always put their survival ahead of everything else, as is natural. So far, for ME3, the Geth Collective is a wild card. They could side with Shepard, or they could side with the Reapers (They are capable of so, and the Reapers still need a new species to fill the gap left by the Keepers.) . If the Quarians actually threatend the Geth's ability to surive, then the Geth would wipe them out.
I expect the Geth issue to be solved three ways. Two of those involve helping either the Quarians or the Geth, or the third option for attempt at dimplomacy (Which will naturally take longer than simply wiping the other faction out. Seriously, Cerberus could attack the Quarian Floatilla, the Geth could wipe them out no problem)
If Legion was never activated or you failed to do his Loyalty mission, the Geth as allies are instantly no goes. I'm now thinking of the unique scenerio of what happens when Legion survives, but with his loyalty mission uncompleted.
