That was based off one person's limited understanding of the situation, and I think that was retconnced seeing as howMass Effect: Evolution deals with the formation of Cerberus and the Dossier in LotSB also details their history.

Certain figures in the Alliance support Cerberus, but it isn't an Alliance operation.

Nope. That entire statement is wrong.

Not the entire statement. Cerberus is a rouge Alliance Black Ops orginization that offically went KIA after the First Contact War. I wouldn't agree with the unlimited intel and money however.

I'm still a little bit disappointed by the fact that Renegade Shepard cannot continue his work with Cerberus....

Lets see why not in me1 if you play side conques: 1. killing aliance admirals who asking questions, experemenitn on rachni on Kahoku, kidnapping, assasinations and so on. In me 2 if you dont destroy collector base cerberus will use that against you in me3. In me3 cerberus is working for the reapers. So i say to hell with them. Yes Cerberus was part of the aliance but is gone rouge a long time ago if you read all the books you will understand. PS im not a hater just  my opinon beside its your choise some one will choose bad someone good just like in STWOR and i cant blame them for that better in the game then in real world :D

Cerberus can't be defended cuz it has a low damage resistance.

Cerberus is only subject to their general desires, namely the advancement of humanity. Beyond that, their role in Cerberus is non-existent.

It is very rare to find a large organization where those who put up the money are the same as those who run things.

What would he have to do to become legitimate?

Be sanctioned/approved by the Alliance. And all that entails, i.e. supervision, direction, etc...

Governments are a dime a dozen, why must it be the Alliance?

Cerberus can't be defended because the entire organization is full of incompetent, short sighted, fools. "Derp lets continue to research reaper tech, if we fail shepard will just clean up our mess..."

It is an alliance black ops organisation. Kahoku's testimony confirms this, the Alliance scientists mission does too- the project on Akuze was an Alliance project (and the specifics of it were classified) according to Hackett. In Evolution, we learn a little about TIM's work with the Alliance, and it culminates in the formation of Cerberus on Arcturus Station which is the Alliance's HQ. The whole Armistan Banes fiasco also points to a close connection between Cerb and the Alliance. Kahoku says that Cerberus went rogue a "few months ago" so the 'Cerberus went rogue a long time ago' theory doesn't hold water either.

ME2 seems to ignore this issue alltogether though- there isn't really anything to confirm or contradict it. However, there could be something in the ME3 story leaks (I haven't read it all so I can't comment).

You also have Zulu_DFA's theory that Cerberus never went rogue from the Alliance, but there's a lot of scepticism regarding this :P

It is, not at all surprisingly, wrong.

I thought it was an interesting and well thought out idea, but I think we all knew that it would be wrong in the end!

No, TIM KNOWS there's a threat (the reapers).

Government, schovermment. "Legality" has nothning to do with anything.
The Legal governments of the Alliance and Council did nothing to protect the people. They did nothing to prepare for the reapers.

A "legal" government can do more harm to the populace than the illegal "terrorist" organization.

Neither did Cerberus besides torturing children to make them powerful biotics, which is going to help so much against the 2 kilometer long dreadnoughts.

And those shock troopers of races the Reapers have been known to control before? Yeah, incredibly smart move there.

You know, instead of f**king around, they could've helped Shepard convince the Alliance and the others that there's a Reaper threat.

But noooooo, they think they are the only ones that can stop the Reapers. Never mind those massive fleets and other certain objects the other factions have that could be incredibly useful. No, that would a smart move, and we know Cerberus can't have that.

They must appear secretive, even though they have nothing good to hide or do.

Sorry, you're wrong. Judging from the leak, we're going to beat the Reapers in a ground war with mechanised infantry.

Cerberus is the necessary evil in mass effect world to make sure we will prevail from the Reaper's menace.

As someone who's read the leaked script: No. They're not. They're really not.

As someone who doesn't give a **** about a clueless "someone" who allegedly read some leaks with the same brain that has regurgitated the mess I've seen lately, yes they are. They really are.
