Asari have none of their father's DNA, and 100% of their Mother's DNA.

I insist that Morinth looking like her mother was a design choice for Morinth to believably impersonate Samara.

But asari aren't clones of their mothers. The mother uses the father's DNA to alter DNA they pass on to their daughters. And it's widley believed (although not proven) that aspects of the father's personality will be passed on to the children (and if anyone's half krogen it's Aethyta).

You don't honestly expect two related characters to look even remotely similar, do you? Look at Miranda and her biological duplicate Oriana, they look nothing alike. Then there's Ashley and her pale, redheaded sister. Don't know what they were thinking with that.

Well said. It's funny that Morinth looks like Samara, but Falere and Rila don't.

Which seems to be stronger evidence that asari don't have to look like their mothers, rather than the "Morinth looks like Samara" argument. Add in the fact that Morinth was meant to masquerade as Samara by the devs, and that argument doesn't mean much to me any longer. Asari aren't clones, their DNA is randomized during the melding, which is probably why Falere and Rila don't look much like Samara. We don't know to what extent the Asari genome gets randomized during the process.
