If your cd key is in your registry, the only reason that I think your DLC wouldnt be playable offline is if your offline token got corrupted for some reason. Try backing up and deleting your profile.dap file, located at

\\My Documents\\bioware\\Dragon Age\\Settings

Then log back in again and see if it allows you to play offline after that.

I'll try that as well when I get home. My cd-key is listed and I can't play if I'm not logged in.

careful though playing logged in, if you happen to get disconnected or some such, it will ruin your current save game or rather your dlc progress, unless you have a save from before you disconnected

which means losing hours of game progress:P

I had that problem with STEAM, but if you log in while using STEAM then use steam in offline mode the game seems to keep some kind of data that allows me to play even when not connected to the internet.

If you are using the retail version I have no idea.

Hmm. Just for the "official record": We do not have to be currently logged in (while playing) to use DLC content?

I ask because there is only a router in one room and I have to wheel my computer in there to use it. If I can use my Blood Dragon Armor and the Golem stuff (whenever I get to that in the story) from my room I can stop annoying everyone else by having my desk taking up all that space haha.

Correct. It requires a one-time activation then you can pull the plug and never go online again and it will be fine. Well, should be :)

I had this issue until I backed up and deleted my player.dap file as suggested. That fixed it.

So yeah, now I'm playing the game with DLC without being logged in at all.

I tried offline again, I could log in the game but all the DLC were broken. My CD-Key is in the registry and I have the Steam Deluxe Digital Edition.

I tried doing what I'm quoting. When I relogged it downloaded and reinstalled a bunch of the DLC and stuff seemed ok in the game. I went offline again, could load my save game fine but again, all the DLC are broken.

It's not too bad for now but it's kind of grating on my nerves knowing that I need the internet for my single player game.

Beside this issue, I had 0 problem with all the DLC before (they all downloaded and installed fine and never broke in the game when logged in). I also know a thing or two about Dragon Age DLC as you probably know from my thread! So I don't think I did anything wrong! I will do more testing tomorrow, feel free to add other suggestions.

Thanks for the official support on this issue.

Why is it that Pirates can just boot up the DLC no problem but us paying customers have to go through all this trouble to play what we purchase? That's what really smacks me in the face. I bought Warden's Keep amd for the content I feel like it was worth the purchase, but I had to deal with this until I downloaded a work around. If I had gotten a pirated copy I would have been able to play fine, no work around needed.

EA really needs to shape up, they're creating pirates. People who otherwise buy their games are now getting cracked copies just to avoid issues like this.

Just download the pirate version of the DLC... you paid EA and Bioware, it is exactly AND ONLY the stupid 'copyright protection' crap they have in there that is screwing all of us legit customers... the actual content and code is good. You paid, just get the stuff without the LAME CRAP they layer on top and all the problems are solved.

Crap, why do we bother buying DLCs when they are cracked so easily but legit customers are slammed with so many technical stuff to do before it can even work? Why oh why Bioware/EA? No more love?

Many of us cannot enjoy the game because of the DLC problems. I had to complete the final 2/3s of the game with no Warden's Keep or a interactable Shale. My items such as blood dragon armor, the helm, gear from Warden's keep and items I put into the chest there all gone or bugged. EA's support blows and takes well over a week for a reply. I wrote once and got the run around, my second ticket I guess they didn't like my mouth which I sent on the 22nd to no reply as of yet.

The part I can't figure out is if you can play this game offline with all the joyous wonders of DLC bought and paid for without any hiccups, then WTF!!!!!! does getting disconnect from the servers screw your DLC and corrupt your saved data???

I don't want to have to download the pirate version is the thing. I want to use the legitimate version. I really do. I paid for the content if I didn't want a legit copy I wouldn't have bought it.

Ah well I already downloaded a 'work around'. EA really needs to shape up.

Sorry Kevin but that's definitely not the case. I have auto login on and constant Internet connection and the DLC always needs to authenticate. If I press resume straight away it comes up with a warning "Owner of DLC needs to login before continuing".. How's that for not needing to be online to play the DLC.

It re-authenticates every time you log in. If you try load while it's authenticating, that happens. If you don't have autologin on it won't happen, though.

I wish that had been the case, but it needed to authenticate every time I tried to load, whether I was logged in or not. The pirated copy doesn't even have to authenticate when you're logged in, or so I've read. I had to download a work-around fix from link on a mod site to solve the problem.

Well, it shouldn't be doing that. I can play offline (network cable pulled out offline) with DLC just fine.

Does anyone know how to re-enter the cd-key into your registry? I've got the impulse deluxe version. I did previously have troubles with DLC and had to reinstall the updater or something like that. I don't have 'Dragon Age_code.exe' because that file was probably in the temporary installation folder which was wiped upon installation.

As far as the game is concerned, I'm pretty pleased with the actual content. When all the technical issues are brought up, I'm far from pleased. Currently I do need to be logged in. I have to slug through forums for technical solutions to solve my DLC activation problems and if I ever need to re-install I have to re-download a huge file. Where as pirated software, from what I hear, doesn't have to jump through any hoops to get their game working. They store the installation files somewhere, all their DLC works fine and dandy and they've also saved themselves some more lunch money.

When I got dragon age I felt like I was trying to support the same people who brought us NeverWinter Nights and Baldur's Gate, but every single time my internet goes out or some new out of actual gameplay complication comes up I get a bit more frustrated.  Someone please give me a better reason than "pirating is bad" to justify why I should buy future bioware products because right now I feel like purchasing was a masochistic decision.

It's like 300k, could email it or something? Don't know if it would actually work with that version though.

Currently I do need to be logged in.

These issues are all dealt with in the DLC sticky...

If you can't get an ISO or somesuch from Impulse then they're idiots and you should tell them such.

Yeah well EA are idiots. The installation files thing is, again, nothing to do with DA. I have all my installation files sitting on a DVD :P

Have you taken the about 5 minutes to go through the DLC issues thread and try fix your problem?

We shouldn't have to search the forums and jump through hoops to solve problems EA created and failed to fix themselves. Having to download a patch I can understand, but having to open up files and folders and delete things and rename things and text edit things. That's just too much. Luckily the work around wasn't all that hard to install, so for me at least the issue is solved. I wish I could link people to the mod site that helped, but EA wants to keep all the mods here on the project section and doesn't like when people share third-party mod sites. The name is pretty easy to find though, I mean DAmods are what it's all about.

Yes I've gone through the DLC issues thread if you mean the sticky in this forum. It's basically a re-hash of what is written in this thread which I've gone through. Their solution doesn''t work for me as I don't have a CD and the login once a day thing doesn't either.

To be fair I'm not even experiencing the worst of the problems some people are as I've been able to finish the game. On the other hand, these are problems which shouldn't even exist. I've been going through the forums a bit more lately after my first play through and reading about some of the problems other people have really steams me up about how much random crap people are taking to get this game going in an acceptable way.

EA just published it, blame Bioware :P But yes, you shouldn't have to. The question is, is it better to moan on these community forums or spend 10 minutes fixing the problem? In too many cases, people choose the former.

Having to download a patch I can understand, but having to open up files and folders and delete things and rename things and text edit things. That's just too much.

Those are temporary fixes until the patch is done. Would you prefer no fix at all until the patch is out?

Do they care that much? I've seen plenty of people mention nexus and whatnot. Not our fault the size limits preclude some mods on this site!

Tell Impulse to give you the proper installation files for the game :P I can email you file anyway if you'd like?

Beware generalizing from forums like these. Inevitably most people on these forums are people with problems. They could be 0.001% of people with the game though (or half of them, impossible to say).

This is indeed true, but the people who get stepped on, so to speak, are the ones who cry out the loudest.  I can only judge by what I'm seeing and currently what I see is from the time I went to sleep and the time I got a chance to re-check the forums, the forums have been hit with about 4 new pages of people creating new thread to problems.  Either they're reposting(let's hope so) or these are new users with new or the same problems as everyone else.  Either way, I'm going to have to lean toward the idea that a substantial portion of gamers are suffering problems.

As far as my problem is progressing I'm checking through Impulse's options to see if there's anything that I missed, but nothing yet.
