One could make a good argument that the basis for actually placing a pre-order, on any game, is flimsy at best.

Not really. You can easily cancel your preorder at anytime so it really isn't much of a problem at all.

That's a very flawed position. How does the ability to undo something constitute a reason for doing it in the first place? Bearing in mind that once the game has arrived and you've found out whether it's any good, it is then too late to cancel...

it's alot of cool ppl on bsn, too.

but you know how ppl can be when they get on the internet.

Edit to add: i will say this GMagnum, i've seen some of your posts recently, and you're one of the cooler ppl here. you treat ppl w/ a ceratin respect and try to give them a fair deal about it all.

All in all, bsn cracks me up. there are some really funny ppl here---and some really smart ones, too. of course it's liberally sprinkled w/cranks, but ....eh

Nooo,  good reason for preordering would be that fact that you have spend more that 3 stinkin hours of your life on BSN.

Meaning you no longer apply to the "ifs", but to the " Gimme, gimme, gimme's"

I usually consider it beneath me to gloat, but the current amount of Cerberus fanwangst has me rolling in delicious, delicious schadenfreude. Not because I hate Cerberus (TIM's one of the best characters in the series) or because I like what the plot's done to them (it definitely could have been handled better and I'm mostly "meh" about it), but because there are a few individuals here that have, from time to time, made my experience on the ol' BSN less than pleasant.

I suppose it's the equivalent of cackling as you watch that one guy who called you fat drop his wallet into a pile of dog poo, but nonetheless, neener neener neener.

Comment on my hypocrisy and lapse in good character all you will, but I'm allowed to be petty and immature every once in a while.

facepalm. I never said it means you should preorder I was referring to you saying its flimsy to do it. Honestly preordering a game rather early can be seen as flimsy but the fact that you can cancel it doesn't mean it is risky at all. You can easily cancel it at anytime if due to reviews, demo, beta and comments from friendly players says the game isn't good.

2. Some are worried that the multiplayer aspects will divert too much of Bioware's capital for them to properly finish the single player portions. These fears have been compounded by rumors that the whole game can be stored on one dvd disc, which would imply that the entire singleplayer campaign consists of less data than ME1.

ME1 was on one disc so I'm not sure how that's a point against Mass Effect 3.

Plus it was said ME3 will be long as ME2( only with more re-playability) and that Co-Op is developed by different studio with it's own resources that just shares same name as studio that does Singleplayer.

Some people are wise enough to trust past experiences and be wary of sales/marketing/PR talk. That's all I'm saying about that.

Then ignore it just don't use that as an argument because it won't solve anything and end up causing a argument that would derail most threads on this forum. Not saying your wrong or right but its just advise.

It would imply it was shorter than ME2.  It's an unrealistic fear in any case, even with the capacity boost on the 360.  Jesse Houston mentioned they thought they might have to use BD50 on the PS3, which means the game was pushing 25GB, and it's exceedingly unlikely that MP accounts for more than a small fraction of that.

Or, to paraphrase Shepard:

"If this is the game, I'll need three discs. Or some really good compression."

He was implying it was shorter than ME1 though. Well not really implying, rather flat out saying it was because of the assumption that it's on one disc.

Well, seemed rather obvious Phaedon wasn't trying to fool anyone, just make fun of you.  And when someone was confused on that point, he made it quite clear he wasn't really you.  Not exactly the action you'd expect if he were truly trying to pass himself off as you.

That is so not the point.  On the internet there are things you DON'T DO even in jest and one of them is to steal someone else's identity.

-Polaris

I'm going to regret even getting involved in thsi but whatever.

Its not necessarily even stealing since he hasn't used you account to post or any private info other than sarcastically impersonate you in a attempt in a joke. There is literally no real harm done to your identity at all and no actual violation of personal information.

In short it was a impersonation that was done in jest and explained so that others would understand.

Edit: Now lets end this further thread derailment. If you have a real problem with it PM a mod.
