Someone asked me how good Flashbang Grenade was against husks. I tested both the Improved Flashbang Grenade and Frag Grenade evolutions with Shepard and Kasumi:

Flashbang against husks

When I reviewed the footage, I saw that I screwed up most of the Improved Flashbang tests. I did not position my squadmates properly and I had a tendency to move to the wrong positions so that they fired at the husks, skewing most of the test results. I think I have enough good video footage that I do not need to go back and record the test again.
Conclusion: It appears thagt Flashbang will not knock down husks if their armor level is too high. If their armor is low enough, it will knock husks down.

Testing in a real game is hard to do, but I agree with you about what you are saying - it looks like if the husks have full armor, neither does anything. If you use it enough you might find some glitches, but in addition to not doing much damage against armor, it looks like it might be difficult to deploy.

I would normally use flashbang against husks when I played Veteran for fun. A good solid hit will take out a few of them in a group. The trick is lobbing it in the right spot. But it does work, with added armour on the higher levels I can see it being rather tricky though.

Flashbang knocks down unprotected enemies. Husks are insta-killed when they are knocked down (ragdolled). It will just stagger them if they still have armor...

If you insta-killed them with a little armor left, it must have been less than the damage output of flashbang (which is small, 75hp for Improved).

Improved flashbang is badass against a wave of husks if you strip their armor before using it and target the middle one.  The radius is ridiculous on this power.

Well, maybe flashbang is great vs unprotected husks - but so is anything that gets them off their feet - shockwave, or pull field, or throw-field, singularity.  CaolIla, imo, has got the best example of handling husks with his adept video of Reaper IFF where he does not use shepard's weapon fire to take out all the husks on the Reaper Core fight - I think he had Samara and Mordin to strip the husk armor.

Red was trying to evaluate how good flashbang was by itself vs husks.

Flashbangs are good against husks in the sense that they ragdoll and have the best AoE/level in the game.

Used to love the power back in my Normal/Veteran days, but I have to admit, I've rarely used it since moving to Hardcore/Insanity.

The power seems bugged though, as it sometimes mysteriously kills things through protections. Mostly in Arrival though, where I suppose the fabric of gaming reality is weakest, lol.

I have only used flashbang on insanity. I admit I like it more against enemies that shoot back, and Harbi, but it works well on husks.

As far as the rest goes, none of the other powers that instakill husks do anything through protections either. Singularity isn't terrible at eroding protections, but the only way you can get singularity in any mission with husks is to play an adept.  I admit that when I was an adept I predominantly used singularity and pull in the IFF mission, as it just makes sense to use biotic powers with that class.  But flashbang has its place if you are a tech or combat class or have a thing for Japanese girls with a penchant for kleptomania.
