After this game comes out, Altair and Ezio's story will both be concluded and then the last Assassin's Creed will come out next year. Personally, I'm stoked. More so than I was for Assassin's Creed 2. I've been hearing good things from the people who've gotten the game early.

Has anyone else seen the launch trailer? Damn, this series really came a long way since 2007. And the soundtrack has been released early. I don't know what else to say. I've got so many questions. Like, who's the blond dude in this video? What does that Chinese women want with Ezio? Why does Desmond now look like Niko Bellic's twin brother?

Discuss.

I'd like it, but I doubt I'm going to get it in the near future. This season is friggin packed.

That being said..

I loved Brotherhood's multiplayer, and it'll be interesting to see where they go with it next. It was challenging, unique, and pretty badass. It had a rather steep learning curve though. I can tell you how many times I stabbed the wrong dude when I first started it.

As per single player, as long as you can free run and do all the combat stunts I am happy. Story though... Hmm.. I think AC2 had the best story thus far, and seeing Ezio go out-more than likely through "retirement"-will be a shame. I wonder who they'll replace him with. Hopefully not Desmond.

I'm behind, need to get Brotherhood. I was kinda put off by how cartoony AC2 felt to AC1.

Regarding the next protag: I'd love to see a female, but that probably won't happen. My dream would be to jump through time, playing through each of the assassins whose tombs you raided in AC2.

Agree that Desmond = bleh but you know it is going to happen.

I am waiting till the Digital Copy comes out. All my games were stolen and been buying digital ever since I wish some companies allowed you to Pre Order Digitally like some developers on the PSN....

Considering the next game is the last game in the series, it probably will be Desmond.

Well, the numbers are in from metacritic.... and out of 21 critics, it's running about 80 out of 100. Most of the critics I personally take notice of (GI, IGN, GameSpot) are averaging about 85+. I had a feeling it would be around there. Just letting you guys/girls/alien midgets know about it sooner rather than later.

I may check it out during spring - However, as the warlord succinctly put it, this season is friggin packed.

My brother is playing it and Ezio just disguised himself as a bard. His songs were hilarious, especially about the one about him fooling the same people he chases.

I guess some time in the future I will play Brotherhood and Revelations, I noticed Desmond does appear in Revelations. I was afraid the two would have nothing to do with him. It was also nice to hear Peter Reneday as Al Mualim again.

If I remember correctly from GameInformer's Exclusive way back, Spoiler OMG Spoiler Desmond was supposed to have some sort of experience in "the black room", which is meant to be an auxiliary room of what the loading screen usually looks like. I think they were trying to go for a more hallucinogenic Max Payne 2-esque dreamscape...thing.

It was also nice to hear Peter Reneday as Al Mualim again.

...and He who decreaseth Peter Reneday Voice Time, increaseth sorrow...

The multiplayer is pretty good. Corruption and Artifact Assault I think are new modes and were a lot of fun to play.

I really do hope Assassin's Creed 3 is coming out next year but I doubt it. Ubisoft has said they want to release one every year which sounds like they want to milk the franchise. Why come out with the last one chronologically if you want to get as much as you can out of the series.

The AC next year is supposed to finish Desmonds story. That's explicitly what they've said. In the AC series, the Templars are talking about a disaster that will end the world in December 2012. Ubisoft has said they want to finish the story by that deadline.

However, this doesn't mean that the AC franchise will be over after that...just that Desmonds story will be. My guess is that in next years AC(3), they'll most likely tie in another new character that you will play as in the following years game.

Personally, I'll be done with the series after AC3.

And...done. I gotta say, great game overall. It doesn't leave me wondering "Wtf?" like the other two, and does a great job of wrapping up Altair/Ezio storylines, which just leaves Desmond. My only complaint is that one rather huge question, from Brotherhood, that I was wondering about was never addressed by the game.

I haven't even played the game yet and I'm getting extremely tempted to watch the Let's Play videos.  Please tell me they answer all are questions this time.

I'd say so, for the most part. Or, at the least, they clarify everything which was rather confused in the last two installments.

The only question which they ignore is *AC: Brotherhood spoilers*

Why does Juno make Desmond stab Lucy?

Aside from that, the storyline was easy to follow, had great pacing/build up, and made me care alot about all the main characters (Desmond, Ezio, and Altair).

Should I get this game? Is it better than previous AC games? Does it provide anything new?

I can't choose between this and Halo remake so if anyone can give me their opinion then it'll be nice.

I haven't finished AC1 yet, after 4 years! I entered the Jerusalem... changed my Windows. My save were in German and after I reinstalled it in English, there was no voice acting, it sucked. I think I have to reinstall it again.

Same core gameplay, with some (slight) updates to game mechanics. Executions aren't as OP, hoobklade/bombs offer new tactical options. If you enjoy the core Assassin's Creed experience and are looking for more/want to know more on the story, go for it. If you're looking for some major gameplay innovations, you probably want to move along, as this is more of the same.

As a huge fan of AC though, I thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

I've just finished it, so here be my thoughts:

WARNING! SOME SPOILERS BE AHEAD!

LIKES

Ezio Auditore - It's sad that this is Ezio's swansong from AC, but what a journey it's been. From his birth to his reckless youth up to his rise in the Assassin order, Ezio's life has been a bountiful playground for us gamers. And some of his finest moments are to be found here. There's the fantastic action set pieces showing that even in his late years he is still very much a badass. We also get his humorous side in the bit where he infiltrates the Sultan's palace disguised as a minstrel, with hilarious results.  Then there are the quieter moments, such as his growing romance with Sofia Sator that provide a sweet respite from all the death that surrounds his life, and show us a softer side to his character.  At the end of the day, I think Ezio will go down as one of the greatest protagonists in a videogame in any generation. It's been great playing as him, and I will miss him.

Altair Ibn La-Ahad - When last we left Altair in AC1, he'd just killed his former master and taken control of the Brotherhood. But for much of the game, he was an arrogant douche who rubbed people in the worst way. So it's refreshing to see him develop into a kindly and wise mentor to the Assassins in the Masyaf memories. Some of the series' best moments are to be found here. From his tragic exile after his wife is killed to his triumphant return to take control of the Order once more. His final days are some of the most touching moments I've seen in a game.

The Ottoman Empire - In AC1 we stumbled through the Crusades, and AC2 and AC Brotherhood allowed us to fool around in Renaissance Italy, so it's great that this game allows us a chance to explore an historic empire not often featured in any media. Constantinople is a great city, probably the best Ubi has designed for AC. And the characters who populate it are interesting. Like Yusuf, fun loving leader of the Constantinople Assassins to Suleiman the Magnificent, though only a teenager here is already showing signs of his future greatness.

Action aplenty - Despite this game being the last hurrah for Ezio, it's no doubt his most intense outing. There are a ton of spectacular set pieces to be found here. Of note are the two of the Masyaf key missions to the final chase. Ezio's probably the closest we'll ever get to being Zorro in a game. :D

DISLIKES

Still too many questions -  Despite it's title, the game doesn't really reveal much and just acts as a bridge to the next game.

Engine showing it's age - While I'm grateful to Ubisoft  for cranking out game after game while not sacrificing quality, the AC engine is starting to show it's age. And it's not just the graphics. Some gameplay issues that need to be addressed in the sequel. Such as combat, which is not smooth as is should be despite the Kill Streak mechanic. Free running also needs a bit of an overhaul to make it a much smoother experience.

Desmond's memory bits - Argh. No first person platforming Ubi! I dislike those immensely. :pinched:

Janissaries - Ugh. These ****holes are hard to kill.

All in all, great game. Not as good as Brotherhood, but it being Ezio's swansong more than makes up for it.

I really should buy more of these games because ubisoft uses some interesting story lines that tap into conspiracies floating around - symbols, myth, secret societies etc. Sometimes I think ubisoft is trying to say something profound.

But I can't stand Ezio. He's a thug in my eyes, and has none of Altair's grace. Although Altair started out as a douche, he began to change.

Tempting if I get to see Ezio's swansong.

I'm really glad to see I'm not the only one who noticed this. Ezio is basically an Italian variation on Antonio Banderas' character. And I'm completely okay with that.

Which is why Ezio is one of my favorite protaganists I didn't create myself. Mainly because he's so close to someone I would have created. I tend to quickly lose interest in games where I can't create my own character, but I have a great time with him.

That said, I doubt I'll get near Revelations before January. My plate is overfull with Skyrim and Saints Row 3.

I finished AC:R and really enjoyed it. I have to say, without posting any spoilers, the story and the revelations are really gratifying. There are some really powerful and unforgettable moments throughout the game. I think the game answered a lot of the questions and mysteries presented in the first 3 games, and I am pretty happy with the way they answered these questions. Some of it is still very unclear of course, but I ended the game very excited for AC3 with my new found understanding of the lore.

Surfing the web, I was actually very surprised by the number of people who have listed Ezio as one of their all-time favorite video game characters. I always liked the character, but I was really impressed by how Ubisoft made such a likable protagonist for so many.

And overall, I think they did justice to him, just seeing how he changes over the course of three games. In AC2, he's young and brash, gets into fights, sneaks into girls' rooms at night, etc. Then we see him in his old age, much wiser and more focused. It's all very well-done.

I started playing the game today, and from what I've played so far, this game is pretty damn good. Of course, Ubisoft always likes to start things out with a bang, but this feels a lot more engaging than Brotherhood, which I was slightly disappointed in. I think what helps this game is that unlike in Rome, the entire HUB isn't just one big country-side with less than a quarter of it being the actual city. Constaninople feels like a real city and it's "realness" stems from it's size.

The diversity of the environment also helps. I don't know why people say that this game is just like Brotherhood. The combat is mostly the same, but the developers have also brought same interesting new features and many of the old features have enough nuances from the last game to keep it fresh.

Executing a hook and run is probably one of the most fun gameplay elements I've seen Ubisoft add. For the first time since AC1, I actually find it more enjoyable to run away from guards instead of taking them down with my elite sword skills.
